Mild Madhouse spoilers, in terms of enemy variety:

I'm about to finish up playthrough #3 tonight. My first time through was on normal, second on easy to grab those extra items. Using those items in Madhouse almost feels like cheating, but then I remember just how much that mode hates me and I don't feel so bad.

You guys deserve all my money. But I can only give $9 of it.

I, for one, envision a future where every host is Sean Vanaman.

If you do go for the special item in the demo (which you should do, because it definitely helps early in the game) I would recommend following a guide. Be careful of which guide you follow, because some of them include a lot of unneeded steps. There are some great speed runs on YouTube that include only the necessary steps, I would recommend searching for them!

I picked up some momentum after the first few hours of the game, and I was fortunate enough to have a couple of days off. The amount of playtime that Steam is reporting for this game is a gross amount of time for me to spend on any game in a normal week!

I just completed my first playthrough last night. I'm not sure how this forums handles spoilers, so I'm going to try my best not to include any in this post. Just be warned!

I have returned after completing the first hour of the game. noiseredux, just like you, entering the shack was a bit too much for me. I ended up stopping there on my first night of playing, but was able to continue on in my next play session. It's a weird feeling, having a game where I'm both dreading and anticipating play sessions at the same time. My horror game chops on PC include the likes of Alien: Isolation and, most recently, The Evil Within. With both games, I was able to play to completion by watching Let's Plays when I felt too much anxiety to play on my own. I would watch only until important story points, where I would jump back in armed with the knowledge of what would happen where. As the game goes on, I would rely less and less on this method. It's like entering a swimming pool on the shallow side with floaties and, once I'm accustomed to staying afloat, I'll swim out to the deep end with a life guard watching. I predict I'll have to do that with this game as well.

I just finished pre-loading. I've never pre-loaded before, so I keep clicking "play" to see when it will actually let me play the game. I have a feeling I'm going to get 5 minutes in and completely regret my purchase. Not because it's going to be a bad game, but because I'm a baby who plays baby games.

Mrs. Ostrich is a fan of the show (Chris Remo in particular), but...you see...to me, Idle Thumbs is a thing that is best enjoyed privately. I hope to conjure images of me hiding in a closet, unbeknownst to my wife, listening to the sweet sounds of Chris Remo, Jake Rodkin, Sean Vanaman and Ethnic Breckon. But seriously, I'm looking to add another awesome forum to my mix of daily internet browsings, and I've been putting this one off for far too long!
