I think I broke it.

Alright, you know what? That's what I'm gonna try to do now. Those smaller rats heard what you said and want to be part of something bigger than themselves. They want to be rolled up into a giant Ratball. Now I'm going to do some research on how that would work. There's a part in the Holy Diver video where Dio sort of lazily whacks a guy with a sword and the guy turns into a pile of rats. I just need to do that backwards. I'm starting to feel like a shill when I say this, but Construct 2 really does make getting things off the ground pretty easy. I don't know much about game physics at all, but C2's plugin for that does most of the work.

I don't know anything about Gamemaker or I'd help you out for sure, this is looking really neat! I love the concept, and the artwork is pretty cool. Good luck in the second week!

I've been contemplating a game based on "And That's Why Skeletons Fart That Way" since the first Wizard Jam. Might take a crack at it! If not, I can at least help anyone using Construct 2 if they're new to the engine. I'm excited!

EDIT: It's up! http://riv-hester.itch.io/happy-happy-krampusnacht ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey all. Long time Thumbs listener, first time Thumbs forum nerd. Thought it might be fun to take a break from making my game by making another game, so here I am! Anyway, this is a score based arcade game vaguely inspired by the Smash Run mode in the 3DS version of Smash Bros 4. As the ever-popular Krampus, the player will run around beating naughty children* with a switch until they are subdued enough to capture and be sent to work in Santa's coal mines. * The term "children" here means artificial approximations of human larva. Child abuse is "bad". I've been roughing things out since the jam went live last night. Here's a look at what I've got so far: I'm using Construct 2, GIMP and I'll probably mix my sound effects from public domain stuff I find on Freesound. Also, I wonder how many Krampus games there are going to be in this jam. Not enough, probably. Never enough.

Awesome! Thanks for posting these, guys!

Man, I totally missed that, thanks! And yeah, if I have time over the weekend I'd definitely like to get the rock throwing working. And maybe even something to ramp up difficulty over time, but I don't know how I want to go about that yet.

Thanks a ton! Glad you guys are enjoying it.

The Wa is strong with this one! Feels like a very amicable mix of Surgeon Simulator and Besiege.

Came out pretty cool! I can totally see this concept being expanded to a full game, too. I want to see an alternate ship where one gun-thruster thing is bigger than the other, so the small one keeps whipping around. That might be pushing the hell part of physics hell too far, though...

This is great! I love the sense of weight on the landings.

Man, this just bleeds personality. I'd love to see you guys keep going with it. -

I could totally see this game existing in a piece of cyberpunk fiction. I love it. -
This is art.

Thanks guys! Spoken like a true Krampus. That's the great thing about Construct 2! You can knock out basic platformer movement and collision with its built in behavior library in a matter of minutes. Granted, you have to do a lot of tweaking to get it actually feeling good, but it still frees up a lot of time for everything else. Almost half the work I put in was polish!

It's up! http://riv-hester.itch.io/happy-happy-krampusnacht I didn't get the high score to save between sessions in time, but it'll track it as long as the game stays running. And naughty kids can't throw rocks at you as I'd planned, but it was a choice between that and controller support. Other than that I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Hope you guys like it!

Man, this is looking so polished! I like your menu music a lot, too!

One more major area to go and the level is done. I want to get the menus and score screen working today as well so I can just spend the end of the jam polishing and tweaking. There's something suspicious about that snowman.

Cool idea! You guys are totally rocking that Gameboy look, too.

This is obscene and I love it.

Getting the rest of the level built and filled out with a few more props. I'm also setting things up for the naughty kids to be able to throw rocks at the Krampus, but that isn't working just yet.

Nice progress on the temple! Looking good.

Looks cool! What kind of gameplay do you have in mind?

Got a start on the timer and scoring systems yesterday, but I'm hoping to get a lot more done over the weekend. Back to work on this stuff as soon as I get home from... Well, from work. WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK. DO IT. JUST DO IT, like I've been told that disgraced actor says! Hey, thanks for the offer! I've got it covered, though.

Speaking as someone who thoroughly enjoyed the sailing for it's own sake in Wind Waker, this sounds really appealing.
