  1. Where in the World - Idle Thumbs Map

Goddamned Norwegians, having all the nice weather and the oil and the whatnot. When I lived in Skellefteå (northern Sweden), we had occasional dips close to around -40C/F in the middle of winter. Now that I live in Sundsvall it generally stays around -20C to -25C in the middle of winter.
  2. 3D Modeling

    Noted!
  3. 3D Modeling

I'm not one to argue with the likes of Loomis, Richer or Winslow. My anatomy teacher made sure of that (he got a t-shirt from one class that says "Do as I say and you'll become a happier human being". Very true.) Thanks! I'm aware that she's a bit short, she's meant to be shorter than average so that's by design, but I'll take a look at the shoulders and legs. Thanks!
  4. 3D Modeling

Worked it over a bit more. Fixed a few anatomical problems and added a bunch of detail + something hairlike.
  5. 3D Modeling

Thank you. I started out without reference (other than stuff I know from memory thanks to artistic anatomy classes), then pulled out a couple of anatomy books to do some corrections. It's nowhere near done, of course, and I'm still doing passes to touch up stuff I missed or waited on doing for a bit. Anything in particular you were thinking of?
  6. 3D Modeling

I've been diving back into 3D modeling after a long hiatus, and moving from Maya + Mudbox and my old university's own game engine (Nebula Trifid) to Blender and Unity has been so nice. After watching a couple of tutorials on youtube (highly recommend looking up Darrin Lile's tutorials) to reacquaint myself with the interface, I decided to build a simple box model basemesh and sculpt out a first concept for the main character of a game I'm hoping to put together in Unity:
  7. Akeytsu, a rigging and animation tool

That does actually look really nifty (and sweet jesus yes anything is better than Maya). I've been getting into Blender again recently, and the rigging and animation ain't half bad, but anything to speed up the process and make it less painful is very welcome.
  8. Post your face!

Ooooh, I have a face! Hello!
  9. New people: Read this, say hi.

I've wanted to make a game with focus on social conflict for a really long time, as well as a story where reality is breaking down and the real (game) world is being affected by the way people in it think of it. The idea is to make a sort of stealth adventure game with a focus on non-violent conflict resolution to affect NPCs, thereby changing the game world. Since I really, really love games with character animation (esp. faces) that feel "alive", I want to focus on making the facial expressions and body language of characters as convincing as possible.
  10. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hi everyone! New member here, been listening to the show for a few months. Started out with Idle Thumbs ep. 207 (Bublé Bloodborne Bloodbeef) then worked my way back throughout the Soundcloud archive to episode... 156, maybe? Then I started from the beginning and worked my way through that, and then I started going through Tone Control followed by Designer Notes. Used to study computer graphics at university and really wanted to go into video games, but then I got burned out in 2012 and haven't really been able to do anything since then, but listening to these shows helped reignite my love for video games again. Now I'm working with Unity and Blender to bring an old game idea of mine to life.
