  1. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

yay got my first elusive after flubbing the last two! and 4/5 hitmans to boot. Would have got silent assassin but someone saw me stick him with an emetic syringe. really could have been more careful in finding the right time and place for that.
  2. The Huge Armored Core Playthrough

designing mechs and duelling them with a friend was some good couch times back in the ps2 days. I would be all over an old school style AC for my PC.
  3. I dig digging through works done by childhood me, especially teenage me, and groaning at all the complete guff i spewed onto the page/screen. I think it would be a great idea to make a shared experience of this. Feel free to post writings, art works, school projects, etc from your fragile years for everyone to laugh along with you, not at you. This will of course be a judgement free zone. We've all been there before. I'll be starting out with a short story I wrote back in primary school, and whatever else I can dig up from old internet sources.
  4. A scathing critique of American wartime culture, from past me, an Australian high school drama student
  5. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

Fucked the latest elusive target. He saw me trying to poison his glass. One thing led to another, and after playing cat and mouse with a baseball bat in the upper floor of the house for a good while as I cleared a path to the nearest window to drop him out of, I got shot on the way out at point blank range. Went to hit a guy with the bat, instead bent to snap the neck of an unconscious guy at my feet (thanks context sensitive button prompts) and was gunned down.
  6. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

Tried going guns blazing and taking out all the guards in a level to unwind after getting suit only silent assassin on paris. Turns out the environments feel so darn believable that going in guns blazing was probably one of the most unsettling things I've experienced in a video game. I've headshotted a room full of goons about a million times in video games, but going back through an area and seeing a waiter on his smartphone calling friends or family to tell them about the psycho killer at work was a little too much.
  7. Bit late on the draw with this one, but when Chris remarked on the changes undergone with sequels to reach a wider audience, in which some of the original challenge and charm is inevitably sanded away for quality of life improvements and that the dark souls series has somehow largely dodged this so far, I think it is worth noting that demons souls was originally a kings field successor, a series similar to yet far more impenetrable than the souls series. Perhaps one of the reasons the souls games have avoided this change is because they are already themselves a product of it.
  8. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

killed myself going for the food critic (on my first elusive target too). Placed what i assumed was a remote detonated explosive. It was a proximity based explosive. Hung around for a few seconds, confused that the detonator wasn't in my inventory...
  9. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

Something they do in that contract that I wish they did more often is placing more expectations on you as the player to play along with whatever your disguise is meant to be doing. For example, Participating in the play as the shooter in Curtains Down. Another, stronger example, is disguising as a point man in the colorado mission. Having to basically rock up and act as if you've been there all along in a training exercise is a great mix of tension and almost comedy as you desperately try to work out where you're supposed to be and what you're supposed to be doing based on a very short briefing.
  10. Hitman: Steve Gaynor Edition

...only one from blood money? and there's one from absolution on that list?... edit: two from blood money, but still too few.
  11. more like idle saturday for everyone in aus hahah- wait thats still the weekend? fuck
  12. TITANFLAPS 2

Respawn, from their cod4 pedigree I assume, have some godlike ability to induce flow states. Even in quiet moments in matches you're constantly on edge, jumping around and checking your minimap for the nearest bad guy. The movement controls are so intuitive and lend themselves to allowing anyone to pull off the smoothest shit when they get lucky. I've had grapples so well timed and placed, less and less by fluke the more I play, that'll just carve the sleekest, sexiest arc through the air to drop me in a window. A window that is just big enough to allow you no loss of momentum going through if you hit it perfect. Threading the goddamn needle like that is so sublime and it makes me feel like a goofball when I gasp or moan out loud even though I'm alone in the room. I agree that as an entry into anonymous online gaming, in shooters or in general, you'd be hard pressed to find a better alternative. Barely anyone says anything, including slurs or other abuse, because they're all just as hypnotised by the experience. Even when they do talk it's well mannered, as there's no grounds for beef when you don't really need your teammates for anything, and dying comes with only a few seconds long time penalty. I'd recommend anyone who enjoyed the campaign to just jump in and pretend the other players are just bots who will probably kick your ass for a while (speaking of which: turning up the FOV if you can helps a ton with avoiding getting shot. Default is 70, which doesn't grant enough situational awareness imo for the kind of game that it is). Edited additional side note: aim assist is very generous for controllers if you're on PC. You won't be sniping anyone from across the map, but for mid and close ranged shooting, I use a XB1 gamepad and do not feel disadvantaged against m&kb players at all (do swap the assist style from classic to steady in the options, tho).
  13. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

Hey guys, just throwing out the net here looking for a new player. Got a group I run dungeon world for every thursday at 7pm GMT. We're looking for a new player to join an ongoing campaign that we're about 3 sessions into and lost our 4th due to scheduling re-adjustments. Message me if you're interested.
  14. I'm interested in what you actually think of the counterpoints people have given. I know it can be tricky pushing back on a forum that is clearly liberal home turf, and the back and forth has in my opinion passed the point of anyone actually registering what the other side has to say, but I'm just curious of what you're expectations are based on precedents Trump has set for himself as outlined in many of the posts above, or whether you don't have any beyond 'only time will tell'.
  15. and this thread hasn't even popped the cork on trump vs climate change (or lack thereof) yet...
  16. TITANFLAPS 2

As someone playing on probably one of the smallest communities (a pc version in Australia) I see why people worry about the playerbase, but at the same time it's not something that should turn you off buying the game. Peak population here is about 200+ playing attrition, and 40+ playing mixtape, but you know what, I got titanfall 1 for $30 back when it was ~100 playing attrition and that was it, and that was still worth it to me. Also, this game is likely to have a pretty long tail. Even the original still has players, and I expect the free DLC and inevitable release on EA access a few years down the line will be sure to keep the population stable for a while, if not allow it to grow.
  17. TITANFLAPS 2

Movement in this game, especially with the grappling hook, is so intoxicating to me that I barely care about how well I or my team are doing, unless we're losing so bad that I die within seconds of respawning every time. I don't mind losing or winning, I just love running and jumping around and often shooting some guys in a cacophony of gunfire and explosions.
  18. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

  19. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

i might be a tad (10min-ish?) late if its 6pm sharp but I'd love to join. I assume you'll be using roll20/voice? Should I make a character prior to, and if so, what level?

  24. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

Well I'm particularly interested in some dungeon world, and seeing as you are all down for that on GMT evenings and are new to the system like me, I'd like to invite SBM, Mythalore and Gwardinen to some dungeon crawling shenanigans run by yours truly. The invitation is of course extended to anyone else who wants to join, its just that the stars seem to have aligned for you guys in particular. For format, I was thinking roll20.net and voice using something like discord or google hangouts. Lemme know if you guys are interested and if we got the full group ill chase you up with more deets.
