I played some Downwell, and instantly felt that this was not a game that I was really going to get into. Three hours later, I put it down - but then I haven't picked it up again for a week, so it's unclear if I was right or not. Anyway, I'm not sure I see any real resemblance to Spelunky at all... the only interacting system I've really seen so far are the skulls that cannot be stomped if they have been shot. Why is this game not being compared to endless runners? Part of a new breed of Finite Runners, perhaps. Unrelated, I have finally caught up on all idle thumbs episodes, so I am now a real person.
