  5. WJ4 "Why I Jam" Audio Compilation

Here Ya Go! Rilen_WhyIJam.wav And I think Patrickr's excellent track Unlovable would make a great backing track:
  6. WJ4 Asset Sharing

I'd say whatever hosting your comfortable with and if you DM me the info I can add it up top. Does that work?
  7. Alright, I finished the Survival Shooter! I really did not enjoy this one. After the last 2, being given everything and just clicking the pieces in place was frustrating and I felt that I learned much less. Also a ton of stuff is not in the tutorial but is present in the game files. I did what I could, managed to reverse engineer the intended pause menu and audio mixing, but the whole thing felt like a pain. Learning about animation was easily the most fascinating and fun part, for me. Can't wait to get back to more coding, I might try to do a coding-specific tutorial series before tackling Tanks. This dude did something pretty neat with the tutorial. He added death animation, spookier lighting, glowy eyes, enemy waves, pickups, all kinds of fun stuff! You can download the project and crack it open to look around. I hope to implement some of it mine later on but for now I am just done with this damn shooter and ready to move on. Hope everyone else is rocking along, and again let me know if anyone else would like a Slack channel for this.
  8. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

What an incredible looking pizza, mouth-watering!
  9. Would anyone in Wizard Academy be interested in a Common Room? Thinking about making a Slack channel that's for Academy talk. It seems like a lot of these tutorials are partially obsolete or obtuse, and having someone to talk to while doing it could be mutually beneficial. Also if, like me, you're looking to put your own spin on these it could be a nice play to discuss modifiers and extra credit touches. Anyone interested or should we keep just using the thread?
  10. None, as far as I know. I haven't intentionally done anything in that regard and I haven't yet activated any of the scripts for GameOver. So I'm pretty confused as to what is happening.
  11. Hey guys, I'm working on the Survival Shooter and there's something I need help on. The colors in my scene are much much lighter than what I'm seeing in the tutorial, and game objects don't appear to be casting shadows. Root, you're finished product on Itch doesn't appear to have shadows either. Are we missing something? EDIT: Dammit, something really weird is happening. The correct darkness and shadows pop in only when I'm running the game and the player dies then it restarts. On my "2nd life" everything looks much better. Going through to watch everything to see what changes but baffled.

That looks scrumptious! Yeah, it definitely takes time to tune. The last few times I've made large batches I haven't had 100% of the required ingredients and made substitutions I really enjoyed. I finally tried doing it the recipe way...didn't like it as much. I feel like my best results were making the gochujang from the radish water base, cutting down on fish sauce massively, and using the liquid from oysters. I also made a small pot of just garlic and hot peppers kimchi as the base for the next batch. Love your stoneware! I don't have any at the moment so I have to use glass and plastic locking containers.

You ever checked out Maangchi? She is the lady who really got me into cooking Korean food full time. Her website is fucking amazing but you can also buy a combined ebook set of everything for like 5 bucks. I did that so I can have it on my phone to translate things in the asian grocery. Also excellent, and brand new, is Cook Korean! A Comic Book with Recipe, which my mother was kind enough to pre-order for me this summer. Over time I've developed a synthesis of the two for what works best for me, I can share my notes f you'd like. I've been making Cabbage & Radish Kimchi, Radish Kimchi, Cucumber Kimchi, Spring Onion Kimchi, Carrot Kimchi, and Mushroom Kimchi, which as far as I know I invented.
  14. Pixel Daily with Me

Wow, awesome! I think I always assume that everyone is using a sweet tablet and that's my excuse for not trying to draw good. $9 is a steal.
  15. Pixel Daily with Me

Cool idea! What program are you using? What kind of tablet setup?
  16. Nonviolent Ant Farms

Hey anyone interested in this topic! Clockwork Empires, the game that orignially inspired to start this thread, is finally launching with 1.0 tomorrow on Steam! I have greatly enjoyed playing through alpha and beta, and I think all of you weirdos would dig it. I haven't played it in the last month to surprise myself with the finished product so I have no idea what the final balance and tuning tweaks were. But everything I've seen from these fine fellows so far has been great, and they support their games for an incredibly long time for free (see: Dredmor). Here's a trailer for the release!

NEW THEME NEW THEME NEW THEME !!! Out with the , with the new! ROOT VEGETABLE EXPLOSION, or, Rattakablooey. To further celebrate the coming of fall and the chilly times, let's enjoy what bounty nature has left to offer. Parsnips, turnips, sweet potatoes, yams, the list goes on! These hardy fellows take well to roasting, hold up well in stews, and are all around awesome. Let's celebrate these often overlooked fall friends by seeing how many of them we can stuff in our dishes at once. Try to combine root veggies in a dish, the more the better. Hopefully the veggies are the star. The easiest thing is to throw them all in the over rubbed with a little oil and some herbs. Seriously, it's amazing. Cut em up first or don't. Alright, let's get hardy!
  18. Do you mean Thumbs-specific sounds? B/c I have a lot of resources for free stuff but not Thumb stuff. Whoever Joseph Abbell is, he made the Thumbs soundboard and is therefore sound-rich. Yournamehere's entry also had a ton of Thumbs sounds, I thought there was a database or something kicking around.
  19. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Arrgh, I waited to post a recipe and now it's off theme! No matter,I will now subject you all to my experience accidentally inventing a new SHREDDED THAI CHICKEN STEW! I didn't have a plan when I started, but I did have a lot of leftover kimchi liquid. My last kimchi batch was a new recipe that produced much more liquid than usual (not sure why). So I figured it would be a Korean stew. But I had another experiment in my fridge. A few days prior I had tried making a kind of Japanese soup base by browning lots of garlic ginger and peppers in miso, then blending it, and cooking it with sake, kombu, and soy sauce. So I had this miso/monster paste (you definitely could just use miso for this step). So I figured the next day I would make Japanese soup. But in my tired state, this is what I did: Started with a layer of dried shiitake mushrooms on the bottom of the cooker to keep things off the bottom and soak up juices. On top of this I added a layer of chopped yellow onion and about 4-6 thin purple eggplants cut into rounds. My weird paste. Again, you could probably just use a cup of brown or red miso and add several chopped Tbsps of ginger, garlic, and jalapenos or other hot pepper. I used Azuki bean miso. My kimchi juice. You could use water, stock, or any liquid you like. I think I only ended up using 1-1.5 cups. I whisked it into the paste to thin it into something like a wet marinade, then at the end of this any left gets poured over everything. Not pictured, but in this step I also added 2 extra Tbsp large chunks of chopped ginger. It could have used more. Here is also my secret ingredient, Pickled Green Peppercorn. I started using this stuff a few years ago when I realized that Prikh King was my favorite Thai curry. When I started ordering it in more upscale Thai restaurants I realized that there were often a few of these guys mixed in. You don't really want to eat them, all though they can be quite good if they have been well pan-fried, in a kind of buzzing, Schezuan peppercorn kind of way. I used three of the little guys. Cute, huh? Chicken! I used 4 thighs from a local farmer. Straight out the bag, next time I might rub them the night before. Basically I covered the chicken in the marinade made from miso paste and kimchi juice. Then went in on top of the onions and eggplants, which are on top of the mushrooms. Lastly I added the peppercorns, and the stalks/leaves of young ginger. All the farmers around me are stopping growing ginger for the season so they have tons of these tops they don't want. Still playing around with the best way to use them, but this seems to have been effective. Now we're ready to go, we pour the remaining juice over, smell deeply adjust with any seasonings we might want. At this point I realized that I had somehow accidentally re-created Prikh King. It's a spicy ginger based curry, so it's not too crazy, but I think it's amazing that in my sleep-deprived state I had unconsciously made one of my favorite comfort foods without having done it from scratch before. Put the top on the slow cooker and cook 6 hours on low or 4 on high. Or 5 on medium :-) The finished product! I took out the ginger stalks and peppercorns, tossed 'em. I shredded the chicken with 2 forks. The eggplant had completely disappeared, but I think it gave everything a nice thickness and stopped it from being too wet. Next time I might throw them in at the last minute or serve it over them. The chicken is delicious, hot without being unbearable, and I've been eating it all week. I've had it over rice, over noodles, and with eggs. Good cold and hot. Definitely going in my recipe book for future uses and tweaks. Hope you guys like it! Look forward to seeing what we find to stuff!
  20. Alright! https://hellameaty.itch.io/wak2spaceshooter I finished the expanded Space Shooter Tutorial, with enemies, different music, and a bunch of small tweaks. Basically I made everything a little bit faster to make the new music but kept the asteroids slow. The ships aren't moving that much faster, but that background scrolling speed is increased and the tilt when the ship swerves is upped so it feels a little better. Also I am apparently placing all of these games in a linked universe. I've also taken a page from's root's book and created an Itchio page. Awesome. I'm catching up! The shooter took a solid week, I'm glad to have a little more time for the next one. I know 2 weeks my time doesn't sync up to you, but if you're taking a break I'll be along shortly. Note: the games do not size properly when uploaded to Unity. The supplied Viewport Dimensions are way way too small. So when viewing your Space Shooter you can fly off the screen, the score is hidden, etc. I didn't know where to look for a bit, in case anyone else has this problem, open Unity, then 'Build Settings' -> 'Player Settings' -> 'Resolution'. These values are still a little too small to read text at the top of the screen, so I multiplied the values by 1.2 and that seemed to work. I feel like there must be an easier way or perhaps I've missed something, but maybe not. Really enjoying doing this, and I don't think I ever would have if it wasn't for you root. Thank you.
  21. Free Music / SFX Resource - Over 2500 Tracks

I started uploading the games I've been making in the Unity tutorials to itch.io, and I was able to make the Space Shooter a hundred times better by using your track "Restricted Zone"! The game does not have a title or end screen, so you are attributed in the game description. Please let me know if this is not ok, I can take it down and re-upload once I re-work/learn how to make one of those. Link
  22. Welcome to Wizard Jam 4!

Awesome! And very excited for what's in the cooker!
  23. Welcome to Wizard Jam 4!

For the possible Excel sheet of skills, is there any interest in doing it kind of like Amnesia Fortnight? Ie, people who want to lead, or who have an idea, pitch them, we have a list of pitches and then people sign up for teams they are interested in, then there could be some back end sorting from an admin. I think just listing skills can make it hard because you're choosing a random person, whereas people might feel stronger about supporting an idea.
  24. Psychonauts 2

I'm really enjoying the development videos they've been posting for Psychonauts 2! What do people think about the Rhombus of Ruin VR demo they put out? I was silly delighted to get a better look into their world, but as the animator said, it really really emphasizes the exaggerated nature of the character designs and that takes some getting used to. They also hired the Molasses Flood team (they of The Flame and The Flood) to mock up the summer camp in the UE4 engine to get a feel for what it would look like. It's pretty rad, if essentially just a re-skin. I enjoyed the new looks of the powers and sense of movement. Speaking of movement, the previous video also has a testing area where they are trying out new powers and enemies, etc. This was maybe the most fun to watch from my end, and even though these drastically change I still think it's a positive peak.
