  1. HELP: Attempted upgrade of PC gone wrong

Yup. those are the LEDs I mentioned in the original post. CPU LED flashes, then changes to DRAM LED, then back to CPU LED, then off. Cycle repeats. CPU is seated correctly and I tried it with just 1 DRAM in correct slot, then swapped it out for the other DRAM stick. Same result.
  2. [DevLog] Flash in the Pan

Hello everyone, I've always been impressed with how supportive the Idle Thumbs community is so I thought this would be a good place to get some feedback. I've recently completed a Twine game called "Flash in the Pan" that simulates my experience as an adult living with ADHD. I'd really appreciate any feedback you may have. https://stealthbagel.itch.io/flash-in-the-pan NOTE: Please ignore the link to my Patreon page. I'm not fishing for contributions. Just honest feedback. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks very much!
  4. Idle Thumbs Streams

I've really been enjoying the Dark Souls streams, which is cool because Dark Souls is a game I would normally never play. I like a challenge but, I generally don't play things that are as punishingly difficult as the Souls games. It's nice to experience the fucked up, though oddly beautiful, imagery of the game played by people who can maintain their sense of humor about it. So, thanks guys.
  5. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

I originally sent this in to reader mail at Idle weekend but Danielle and Rob didn't read it on air. Not a surprise given how much eMail they probably get. But I am curious what people think about it so I'm posting it here. I generally avoid first person perspective games because they make me motion sick. Despite this, Firewatch has been on my wishlist since the game was announced. I appreciate a well told story and the folks at Campo Santo that I'm familiar with (Sean, Jake and Chris) always have interesting perspectives on games. So I was excited to see what they produced. Firewatch was a very enjoyable experience for me, even though it did result in a nasty bout of nausea. Wanting to show my support for the product, I logged onto Steam, gave Firewatch a thumbs up and wrote a review. Unfortunately, the next time I checked my Steam recommendations que, it was populated almost entirely with first person games. The months I'd spent training the Steam discoverability robot appears to be completely undone by 1 positive review. Do you think the increasing popularity of algorithmically driven marketing can discourage people from rating or reviewing products that might be outside their wheelhouse for fear of skewing the recommendations they get? Also, are there any game mechanics that you have a physical reaction to so strong that you can't enjoy the game? First person seems to be the engine of choice among indies these days and I miss out on some tonally interesting stuff because they make me physically ill.
  6. [Dev Log] The Jasper Principle

Greetings all, In the spirit of the "Tone Control" diversifier, I’m making a Stanley Parable inspired game with reactive narration modeled on the nihilistic and defeatist world view of Nick Breckon. Since my game design experience is limited to a couple of twine games, I’m keeping things as simple as possible. I’m making it in Twine but I’m having some trouble with the HTML5 <audio> tag. When I load the "published" .html file into Chrome, it will only play the first second of the voice over before it stops playing. Audio files are in the same folder as the exported .html file. Problem is the same in Chrome and Firefox. I tried the tags in a clean html file and the audio played just fine so I assume the <audio> tag is causing Twine to have a stroke. I’d appreciate any suggestions on how to deal with this. <audio autoplay> <source src="voiceover.mp3" type="audio/mpeg"> <source src="voiceover.ogg" type="audio/ogg"> </audio> Thanks for your input. Thom
  7. [Dev Log] The Jasper Principle

Thanks! The accent was primarily me biting on the glow of The Stanley Parable, but I hoped someone might connect it with the Nick/Spaff thing, as my British accent is "mediocre".
  8. [Dev Log] The Jasper Principle

SHIPPED!!! The audio tags were a bit fiddly but the game has now been tested on Mac and Windows. Check out The Jasper Principle and let me know what you think.
  9. [Dev Log] The Jasper Principle

Thanks for the response. I was actually just testing out twine with the audio tag and a short file (10 secs) when I ran into the problem so I don't think it's the length. But I appreciate the feedback.
  10. Twine Audio Question

Hi!, I originally posted this in the Winter Wizard Jam thread but it's probably more appropriate here as it's a coding/bug/WTF question. 13. Winter Wizard Jam Team Building Thread

I'm interested in joining a team Offering: Writing and possibly VO I've been writing for years and have a smattering of articles and short stories around the web as well as a couple of titles on Amazon. However, the best example of my work for our purposes here would be my serial fiction podcast The Redshift Chronicles. You can find it on iTunes, Stitcher or redshiftchronicles.com (which just points to the iTunes page). Free to download and a pretty accurate sample of my writing and voice acting. (Though I'm hesitant to call it acting). No preference on theme. Just looking to contribute to a good project. Best way to contact me is through Twitter or eMail. I'm off work for the first week of the jam so I'll have a healthy chunk of time to work on it.
  14. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hello All. I've been scanning the forums now and then and I thought it was about time I said hello. I discovered Idle thumbs when Chris and Jake appeared on Tested.com's 2013 Octoberkast. It was one of the funniest videos I'd seen in months so of couse I had to check out the podcast. Very happy that I did. Likewise the forums seem really awesome. Great to find a place with cool people.
