  1. "Cars sucks." - A Pixar Thread

My favorite part of that was realizing that now they could just we do all the Star Wars jokes with actual Star Wars toys now. And by favorite I mean most vaguely terrifying. I'm also surprised about how well I thought the When Somebody Loved Me montage worked. I find more and more that the Pixar montage just feels cheap in lazier and lazier ways. But we'll get to that. And bonus fun fact: the When Somebody Loved Me bit was the first time I remember being legit depressed to some (in retrospect) minor degree. That made me one bummed out 8 year old. I couldn't throw toys out for like a decade after that.
  2. XCOM 2

I have a pretty nice Intel CPU but it still does that for me. I wouldn't say it's your PC that's the issue here. It might be, but I'd wait on a patch before I worry too much.
  3. XCOM 2

So it sounds like you can speed up the loading by... wait for it... hitting caps-lock. No really.
  4. Walking in a Wizardry Wonderland

How many? Well seven Etrian Oddyssey games counting Persona Q. Three Class Of Heroes games. There's a 7th Dragon game coming out here soon-ish. At least ten Wizardry games. Two Elminage games that are more or less the same. Then there's the Might And Magic games of which there's another ten. Paper Sorcerer is a cool game you can get for like 2 bucks so that's worth a look. And the last series I can think of is Dungeon Master of which I'd say there's about four (Some of the ports of that game were reworks so I'm not sure how to count that). So all told I'm guessing there's around forty to fifty of note. And that's not counting the Grimrock games which are fantastic but have as much in common with portal as they do Wizardry. Of those I'd say less then ten are worth giving a look. Maybe more if you are interested in the respective series. But I certainly wouldn't tell any one to play the first Wizardry. And what you should play next depends on how far off the deep end you want to go. If you want to go all the way then I hear Wizardry 6 is the best in the series for the more classic style. 8 is also thought to be great but they were trying something pretty new with that one so in some ways so it lacks the refinement of 6. I hear 7 is also good but only if you import your party from 6 anyways. If you want something less on the deep end then Grimrock might be a good choice. I said it doesn't fully count and I meant it, but it scratches the same itch so it's worth a look. For something in the middle I would recommend that you pick up Etrian Oddyssey Untold 2: The Knight Of Fafnir. Incredibly stupid subtitle aside it's the only game in the series I've ever gotten really into. And I would say it's maybe the best over all starting point for that type of game. The only thing it's lacking is the species component but the classes are all incredibly well thought out and play off of each other in great ways. By the midpoint of that game it feels less like an RPG and more like you've built a beautiful clockwork machine of death. It's great.
  5. Books, books, books...

...I thought Bleak House was an indie band in til just now.
  6. XCOM 2

You just get the one suit. But you can pass the suit around as needed.
  7. XCOM 2

About the time mag weapons we falling off I was getting plasma weapons. Then I got the plasma lancer and my sniper became destroyer of worlds and then I had to go to work.
  8. "Cars sucks." - A Pixar Thread

Here's a bummer for you all as we head towards the next film. The screen writer for Monsters Inc has died of brain cancer. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/daniel-gerson-dead-monsters-screenwriter-862674?utm_source=twitter
  9. "Cars sucks." - A Pixar Thread

A Bug's Life felt more to me like the first Dreamworks movie more then the second Pixar movie. It was fine? Ish?
  10. XCOM 2

I've seen it take up to a minute to load on my SSD. It's absu, er, ridiculous.
  11. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Man that Final Fantasy XV soundtrack is way weirder then I expected it to be...
  12. XCOM 2

I had to update Steam before I could start the game. And they say you can't emulate the PS3 on PC. Also the time to unpack for me said 6 minutes and took maybe 2. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  13. XCOM 2

So one of the things you can mod into the game is character pools that let people be added to the list of random units that show up. So I added a section to the spread sheet for people to say if they would be cool with being added to one. I didn't want to assume everyone would be cool with that since it would likely go up on the steam workshop and some people are using their real names.
  14. Life

I know that last year I had to go through a bunch of hoops to get a code to put on my taxes to wave the fee. But then maybe I didn't have to do that? I guess I'll find out in a year or so.
  15. XCOM 2

I went ahead and created a Google spread sheet for those who want to use other thumbs in their games, and those who want to be in people's games: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14WDTLNjxqKX3bn61Qle8O21TfIljvXhPzn6xIMrlOf4/edit?usp=sharing Just leave anything you don't care about blank.
  16. Online Tabletop Role-Playing Extravaganza

My D&D wants to meet Sunday anyways so that's cool with me. I can still do this Sunday if everyone else wants to though.
  17. Life

I just found out that yesterday was the cut off to find health coverage for the year not just for January and that I could be fined up to $700 for not getting the exemption to the fine I got last year. It's pretty damn unlikely that I'll get charged more then a $100 from what I understand, and honestly that may be worth it for saving myself the headaches and phone calls. But it would be nice if I lived in a state that would actually expand medicaid (Which I would have qualified for last year for various reasons I won't get into in, other states) so I could afford something instead of twiddling their thumbs over some stupid political game. Bah I say! BAH.

Not group but as long as they don't compare notes they'll never know that you just copy and pasted the same post for all of them. ;P
  19. "Cars sucks." - A Pixar Thread

So I got a little ahead of myself and watched Toy Story 2. I really liked this one so I'll probably collect my thoughts and post something next weekend, but in the meantime here's the start of my live tweeting: https://twitter.com/VAbsurda/status/693975693021958144 I doubt anyone is reading those but I find it's a good way to keep track of my thoughts as I watch the movie so I'm going to keep doing it.
  20. Online Tabletop Role-Playing Extravaganza

No problem Might be worth sending them a message on the site, if they don't respond in a day or two. I find it's easy to miss when there's a new post with how the sub forums work, so if I ever don't respond that is likely why.
  21. Online Tabletop Role-Playing Extravaganza

I can do a mage though if there's a chance I might switch to changeling later. I'll have to read up and see. And Sunday works for me. So does Saturday day if it's after 6PM my time.
  22. "Cars sucks." - A Pixar Thread

I was going to make a joke about about how do they fuuuuuuuuck? seems to be a not insignificant portion of the Zootopia marketing campaign but I remembered that that's not a Pixar movie so.
  23. "Cars sucks." - A Pixar Thread

So A Bugs Life. It was okay? It looked better then I expected it to. But the whole thing felt like a pixar mad lib. I suspect that will be a theme going forward honestly. Here's the start of my live tweeting if anyone cares: https://twitter.com/VAbsurda/status/693630825644994560 Also, this thing is about an ant colony right? So all the ants are related right? So is this a movie about insect incest?
  24. Online Tabletop Role-Playing Extravaganza

...No? Are you a cop? You have to tell me if you are! Also PDFs can be found over here if anyone is inclined to buy before you try: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/50010/Changeling-The-Lost#anchor_widgets Reasonable prices by the looks of it. I'd *Heard* about the art in these books, but I didn't really understand until right now. It's a thing for sure.
  25. Online Tabletop Role-Playing Extravaganza

That works for me. And as for the vampire group the changeling seem fun so if you want to swap them out for that I'd play one of those. And speaking of playing is the a resource for beginners any where? Or is the first game going to be a set up and explain the game sort of thing?
