  1. Creativity

Reviving this thread because I've decided to do #draw365 this year and it's been going great. I will be posting my art here every day or every other day, I think. This one was my first attempt at really, really painting from a reference. After 17 days of this, I can already see improvement. It's seriously a great project.
  2. Meow.

Yeah, cats meow at you and change their meows over time to get you to better pay attention to them and their needs. Cats also will vocalize at you in order to be sociable. My cat, when he hears my boyfriend and I talking, no matter what he is doing, will come to whatever room we're in to sit and look at us and occasionally contribute to the conversation. It's so funny/weird.
  3. Other podcasts

If you want an actually funny comedian podcast that's ALL WOMEN, try Lady 2 Lady. It's great.
  4. Powerball Fantasies

If I won, I would get the fuck off the internet post haste, hire an accountant and then leave the country for a while in order to escape the press. I would set up trusts for my parents for medical expensives or pay off their mortgages for them. I'd give my sister money. I'd pay my friend's rents or medical bills. I'd pay off my boyfriend's taxes. Then? I'd do whatever the fuck I wanted. I'd buy some nice real estate somewhere and just spend the rest of my days travelling, studying photography and art, maybe taking classes. I'd learn all the shit I don't have time for like mixology or pottery or whatever.
  5. Oxenfree

Yeah, this coming out this Friday has me hyped. I caught this just via Twitter and I'm glad I did, it seems right up my alley.
  6. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

He doesn't though. Everyone knows who Kim K is in the US. No one knows who Nero is. Kim K has a frickin' video game, even.
  7. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Excuse me, Kim Kardashian actually made her media empire after someone dropped a sex tape without her permission and is now fucking rich. Nero is a fucking hack. Don't be scornful of a successful woman.
  8. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I don't know if it really would but it increases your filtering tools and your trustworthiness as a "real person" especially if you are working in the journalism fields.
  9. question: are the achievements actually real because I am dead sure I picked up all the coins in the game.

  11. I had no idea the second playthrough lets you listen to the tapes! I thought those were a reference to Gone Home. Otherwise, it was just a really clever, well designed, funny game. Themost important take-away for me, it was a game with a very smart sense of humor, which is something a lot of games lack and it's something that I find is hard to do in a longer game. Short games that I've played often have more of a somber tone to them so a game that relied on quick, clever whimsy was actually really welcomed. I love things that make me laugh.
  12. Life

Grats to you Namman! Podcasting is awesome. Things are good here - can't complain. Blowing my unused vacation on traveling out to the LA area at the end of January and I'm excited about taking more trips this year. I love travelling.
  13. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Trolling is getting people riled up over nonsensical or fake things. Invoking actual oppressive shit and harassment and people getting agitated over being treated like shit is a normal human reaction and these chucklefucks want to pretend it's all irony but still use things that systematically dehumanize people to do it.
  14. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Might have been but I am not sure.
  15. Social Justice

I'm just saying that cultures have codified codes of behavior, shared interests and that's not something automatically happening if you group everyone by specific identity stuff like sexuality. I'm friends with a very high number of LGBT people but I'd say the culture we share is more often our hobbies vs. our sexualities.
  16. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I don't think GG people are lunatics. I'm mentally ill - I know the difference between irrationality and people who are slowly indoctrinated with bigoted beliefs over time. A lot of gators are swept up by way more persuasive people that women are coming for their video games or are people who generally don't think about what their actions are doing to others because it's people on the internet and thus not real. But educating people gets really tiring and takes hours out of my day. Even just playing around with guys who are coming straight from KiA because someone linked my tweets there took an hour out of my day just to run circles around them asking them honest questions about how they feel (therapist engagement-type language) and frankly, that's not my job. It sucks but I actually don't want to spend hours of my life trying to get these people to realize that they are probably into this because there's something more upsetting and uncomfortable in their lives making them act like this on the internet because they feel a lack of control in their day to day.
  17. This forum is weird (Look a new topic!)

It was a joke about bribing my way into a slack chat.
  18. This forum is weird (Look a new topic!)

I am dropping a post in here because I've seen a couple mentions of a Slack chat and had no idea the forums had one and I want in. Tell me who I need to send money to.
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Star Wars spoilers. Being glib aside, it's a pretty long standing history of the trolls and goons of the internet thinking having emotions is weak and laughable, and so the idea of making fun of something that indicates that someone might be having a full PTSD meltdown is apparently top-shelf comedy.
  20. Social Justice

I'm kinda chuckling about LGBT culture since it's very hard to have a culture based around something very discrete like sexuality. How do you build a culture around that? I historically know what it's looked like but the issue we have around that now is that it's still largely white cis gay dudes who are in a certain income bracket and the rest of us are just not represented very well. Which is fine if we're talking just a "culture" (vs. social initiatives) because I'm not only bisexual at the end of the day. But given I just came from a gay gaming con, it was very apparent that I share way more in common culturally with gamers vs. gay people in general when it comes down to culture. The intersections of being a woman, being bi, etc. felt very starkly apparent.
  21. QUILTBAG Thread of Flagrant Homoeroticism

Yeah there's a movement in trans issues (I can't watch the video atm) to let trans people define their gender in whatever way they wish versus positioning it as a "transition" versus taking hormones, having gender confirming procedures (facial surgery, top surgery, genital surgery, laser treatments for faces, etc). When people "transition", it's not about changing genders, but undergoing steps to present your actual gender the way you wish. But a lot of the medical establishment still requires hoops for trans people to jump through in order to be qualified as trans and transitioning has been one of those things. It shouldn't be required in order to be "really trans" vs. something you can pick and choose doing to feel more comfortable as yourself.
  22. QUILTBAG Thread of Flagrant Homoeroticism

Yeah, just specifically mentioning if they had genital surgery if the conversation demands it, which in a lot of cases, the conversation does not!. Pre- and post-op are very old, antiquated terms, like right up there with "transsexual" vs. transgender and indicate that a person only jumps to their "new" gender when they get genital surgery, which isn't the case for every trans person. You are trans whether or not you have genital surgery and you might feel comfortable with your gender, no matter what genitals you have. In this particular case, it was relevant to mention that someone's GF had a penis, but that's a good way of putting it versus having to put it into surgical terms. This is one of the few times someone's genital configuration should really even come up, I mean, how many times do you want other people to talk about your junk, ya know?
  23. QUILTBAG Thread of Flagrant Homoeroticism

The fact that someone's GF hasn't had genital surgery is germane to the question but keeping that binary as a term we use for all trans women is reinforcing the fact that we need to know what trans people's genital configuration or surgical status is and we really don't need to because it's someone's personal choice!
  24. Feminism

I think she will have better advice than most people, or at least funnier advice.
  25. QUILTBAG Thread of Flagrant Homoeroticism

I just want to jump in and say that "pre/post-op" is sorta outdated terminology because it implies that all trans women undergo genital surgery for gender confirmation and some don't.
