I haven't taken to discussing this on Twitter because EVERYONE is talking about this but it's so fucking complicated for me. Here's my string of interconnected thoughts: 1.) Alison's stance on things like child pornography laws, imperialism, loli/shotacon are fucking weird. I read the thesis too and her tweets and felt uncomfortable enough to unfollow her on twitter. 2.) I'm mad that the only reason these harassers care about this shit is because it would be good firing fodder given Nintendo's stance on family friendliness. It's not like GG cares about child porn when many of their major proponents turn a blind eye to it, ignore it, or have admitted to liking underage stuff from Japan regularly. 3.) I reject this idea that having a problem with Alison's personality means you're siding with harassers. 4.) None of this means she should have been fired and yeah, I wish we had unions because honestly this sounds more like Nintendo having a problem with her moonlighting, which I suspect was of a more adult nature (but that's speculation.) 5.) People's reactions to this are actually more weird to me than Alison herself because apparently if you don't unilaterally pretend you are comfortable with her as a person, it means you believe everything her harassers were up to. 6.) I still think she was fired for really bad reasons and it sucks. She should get her job back. 7.) I still don't really agree with a lot of her opinions and that's actually quite a few feminists online that have been harassed too. 8.) GG has made it impossible to have actual conflict with other women online.

I discovered it by accident. There's so many little touches in this game that are not explained to you.

I'm kinda laughing because Darknest is a real place and it's definitely just a sin bin for SF/Fantasy/Gaming erotica.

My usual breakfast is a latte of some sort and greek yogurt. It's great.

I actually think the fishing game in Stardew is horrible, so I got the Easier Fishing Mod and now I don't mind it as much. I find the idyllic nature of the game, combined with a variety of things to do every day and goals to reach towards to be very well compelling. I also like the undercurrents of class strife and anti-cap stuff to be interesting. Just overall this game has been sucking my time in and I feel like I learn new, obvious things every day. Like if you hoe up the ground and want to "restore it to normal" just use the mining pick, then you can set buildings or other stuff on top of it.

I jumped on The Sporkful because they are doing a series right now on food and cultural appropriation and it's very insightful if that's your kind of topic to dig into.

Well this news actually makes me sad; I don't know if I could pick a favorite host more than a favorite child but Sean is up there. I totally can understand the logistical nightmares of having a rotating cast of hosts and I definitely have missed having Danielle on the show (I started listening to Thumbs when she came on) but still makes me a little sad. You guys are one of the few game podcasts I still listen to because you're some of the only men I can tolerate talking about video games for an hour every week.

It was a really good episode. It veered a little into what I call This American Life territory though where it's ostensibly a white host sounding sometimes atonal around black guests.

Idle Thumbs 254: Welltris and Wetrix

Just because this is specifically in my wheelhouse, there absolutely are ways to track some amount of data for podcasts. Yes, there's 3rd party apps that are also listeners but podcast stats basically hop on your pod's feed and track data that way, as far as I know. We used Blubrry, which had a Wordpress functionality that plugged into our dashboard and then set up things via an account on Blubrry's site. We were not a paid account, so our stats were limited but we absolutely knew how many people were listening to our specific podcast episodes, what method they used to listen to those episodes, as well as the median amount of time people listened. There's also stuff built into the back-end of things like Simplecast now that handle that. -
it's not an outline, it's literally me redrawing that guy over and over and over and not erasing out more of the line. It happens when I get frustrated sometimes. But I will go erase it.

I've been doing more of that Draw Every day thing. I feel like I'm actually improving. Decided to do a redraw of a shot from Agent Carter: First pass: Final pass:

Thank you! And yeah, I have a lot of anxiety tied up in my health and one thing I catastrophize about is illness or chronic body stuff turning into life-threatening immediately (I once went from having a decaying tooth to being frightened of dying of a jaw infection). However I did get a doctor's appointment, thankfully. I just gotta make it until then. I have a chronic illness that sets up some pre-conditions for serious stuff if I don't get it taken care of, so I'm looking to do that. I just always jump to the conclusion that no matter what, I'm sick, it's permanent, I'm dying, it's unfixable. This is what not having insurance for 10 years does to a person, I guess! Good thing I have it now.

Yeah, this is not a POMO thread for jokes, but genuinely post your nice/happy things or good news you've gotten lately!

I'm worried about my health lately, and I can tell physically that something has ramped up recently, which makes me panic that I'm dying. That panic only makes the symptoms ramp up (whether it's my brain or actual, not sure) and exacerbates being unable to sleep. Worse on top of that, I am having trouble pinning down an appointment with an actual doctor. I love having insurance but being unable to get into a doctor's office because they are booked solid for 2 weeks.

everyone needs a little more nerdy Chris Hemsworth in their life. Grats grats!

The lady who I finally wrangled to do my taxes helped me take the amount I owed on my untaxed income down by a lot! Woo hoo!

I noticed something was weird the first time around but that's because I have edited like a billion podcasts. -

Nick looks so young compared to how I imagined he looked just hearing his voice every week. -
yeah seriously! Homoeroticism without Lansbury is like cookies without the milk.

I hope you feel better soon, Lansbury.

It's The Country's Best Yogurt because I lived in a town that had that subtitle underneath it (I'm 34) when it first came. It was also next to a Fay's Drugs, which also no longer exists. I had no idea TCBY was still kicking around. -
Blambo I love your style so much. Crusader from Diablo 3.

Quilling is super amazing and I'm always impressed with the textures/colors people use.

I have a Wacom Intuos 2 or 3 (can't remember) that I use with Photoshop. I build most of my brushes myself.
