  1. Apparently a friend of mine has been buying a bunch of amiibos, but he was too ashamed about it and wouldn't tell us how many he had. He doesn't have a Wii U/Smash to actually use them with, so he sold me his Wii Fit Trainer amiibo yesterday (I think he has about 5-6 other ones). Now I have 3 amiibo, yay! Also have Inkling Girl amiibo on preorder. I think I've been keeping my amiibo purchases pretty well managed. That's what I tell myself.
  2. They should just be in whatever email account you use for battle.net. I use a secondary email address for HotS so it took me a while to realise I had them.
  3. Cause and Direct: A Nintendo Direct Thread

Ah, so Fatal Frame must have been the MA15+ game. We didn't see anything of Devil's Third at all. But that's fine, way more interested in Fatal Frame anyway. I'm looking forward to 200CC! Codename STEAM hasn't been released in Australia yet, I wonder if that version will come with the speed-up patch included. I can't wait for Splatoon, and those amiibo look great. I think I will buy just the girl Inkling.
  4. Cause and Direct: A Nintendo Direct Thread

The Australian website for the Direct is rated MA15+, so I suspect Devil's Third will be shown off. I feel like we've seen that game forever though, I thought it would be out by now. Also, 20 minute countdown has started on it, haha.
  5. Cause and Direct: A Nintendo Direct Thread

Yoshi's Woolly World and StarFox I think will be shown. Also I actually expect them to show off something we haven't seen before. (please be Metroid)
  6. Still in closed beta, sorry! I haven't got any spare keys, but I know for a fact Blizz has been emailing people with multiple keys to give to others. Just gotta ask in the right places. Edit: turns out I have a few keys! But I think they might be locked to SEA/ANZ region? I didn't realise this game was region-locked...
  7. If any of us ever reach level 40, we should totally get an Idle Thumbs Lords Management team going (I think teams can have a roster of 8 members). I'm still only level 26, so I have a long way to go.
  8. I'm eRonin#6463. I added a few of you who put their battletag on here. Add me if you want to play some HotS! (Or maybe some SC2 as well maybe)
  9. I've been having a blast playing this...I'm playing it a lot more than I ever played dota/dota2. I think it's to do with the fact that the game is less stressful and match times are shorter so I'm not so exhausted after one 80 minute match. I play mostly Valla and Tassadar, but I'm also enjoying Thrall who I played for the first time last night. I like how he just continually spams his spells and is rewarded for it with healing.
  10. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I'm preeeetty sure I'm going to give up on Dark Souls. I played it for about an hour and a half and met my second demon and frankly I don't know if I can be bothered fighting it. I can see why it would appeal to some people who enjoy a challenge, but right now I don't have the time or patience for it. (Also it runs like poop on my laptop). Maybe I'll give it another go if I get a better PC and access to a proper controller (currently just using my Wii classic controller + glovepie to play it, which probably plays a large part in my frustration).

Not exactly a screenshot because I don't have internet on my Wii U at the moment but:

Got the Mayflash adapter as well (from Play-Asia) and can confirm it works straight out of the box, truly plug and play with no hassles.
  13. I've never been high and played a video game, but I have drunk and played Gran Turismo. And I have learned from this that DRINK DRIVING IS BAD KIDS.
  14. Nintendo announces mobile deal with DeNA

So I've been thinking about how I feel about this, and ultimately I'm excited about it. I have a 3DS and a Wii U, but if I could play quality Nintendo games on my phone as well, that's just dandy. Also, the idea of Nintendo finally having a neat, cohesive and all-encompassing account system is very welcome. A lotta people are questioning whether the gameplay of Mario/Donkey Kong fits on a smartphone environment, but I think Iwata made it clear that only the characters and settings will transfer over, and the gameplay elements will be more in line with what is expected from current android/iOS games. Having said that, I've enjoyed several DS/3DS games that are controlled almost entirely via touch screen so there's no reason why something like Phantom Hourglass (basically you only need to use a button to access the menu/activate equipment switching in that game) can't be done on a smartphone. I'm also looking forward to hearing more about NX. I think it was smart for Iwata to just drop that but not have it take away from the focus of the conference. I'm hoping that it is the handheld/home console hybrid that people have been speculating about. Something with a nice sharp screen (I suppose 720p isn't farfetched given the 480p screen of the Wii U gamepad) and as beefy a processor as can fit in a tablet-sized device but could hook up (wireless/via HDMI) to a TV. Essentially, something similar to the Wii U but with the main components inside the controller itself so that it can be played entirely independently from the TV/home setting.
  15. Starcraft 2

All right this is a huge bump and if this counts as epic necro-posting then I am sorry, but the Legacy the Void beta is coming out in two weeks which has me pretty excited. Honestly more than any of the units, what I am most excited about is Archon mode. So if anyone else is similarly excited for Archon mode, let's partner up and get neural link going! *cue Pacific Rim theme music* Provided we get into the closed beta, that is.
  16. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Hi all, I just bought a European copy of Nintendo Land, but since I live in Australia, I don't think I can redeem the club nintendo code for it. So if anybody wants it, gimme a holla.
  17. Nintendo 3DS

I personally haven't spent any real money on it, and I don't know anybody who has. It's a very bare-bones kind of puzzle game anyway, you're not missing much.
  18. Nintendo 3DS

I'm actually rather enjoying the game, but I understand if people don't want microtransaction stuff pushed on them. I made sure to turn off those gamepad notifications on my Wii U. No thanks.
  19. IDLE THUMBS 200

Congratulations on 200 episodes! I was highly satisfied with this episode's amount of Danielle-Toad. Will listen again next week. Also robo-Chris should have sung the theme song.

The adapter I bought was listed as DVI-D and I am fairly certain the port on my monitor is labelled as DVI-D. I tried hooking it up to my laptop (Windows 7) via HDMI and it was kinda working... It was a bit spotty. I'm not sure how to explain it. I could duplicate my display and have it be recognised as digital, and I could extend my desktop, but only after first going through "duplicate". If I try to go straight to extend after hooking it up, nothing would display. I'm not sure if this is because of a faulty adapter or if this behaviour is normal. It doesn't seem normal, I suppose. Maybe I'll just wait until I inherit my parents' TV when they move away in a few months. For the record this is what I bought: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321015060820
  21. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

So I read around on other places that the Wii U could output to a monitor via HDMI --> DVI, so I bought myself an adapter. Unfortunately my Wii U doesn't seem to like that. It just says "unable to apply setting" when I try. Has anybody here successfully used such a set-up? Could it just be a faulty adapter?

Hah, I tried a toxic/infestation/rest build with Goodra but it didn't work out very well. I would hate to fight that shuckle. Can't even toxic it because it knows rest...

Here's my enemy hunter hitting themself in the face with their own Deathwing. Enjoy!
  24. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

So I got my Wii U yesterday, but I can't seem to connect to the internet here in my uni apartment, either via wifi or lan adapter. It could be that the uni is blocking access to the internet for game consoles, but then I tried to tether my phone to my Wii U and it was giving me errors even for that. BUT THEN while I was trying to start up the MK8 that came preinstalled, it asked for an update and since I thought I wasn't connected to the Internet, I would just allow it to update and see what happens. To my surprise, it started downloading a HUGE system update and I had to cancel it since otherwise it'd eat up all my mobile data. So now every time I start MK8, it'll prompt me to update, which I cancel every time. I'll have to move my Wii U to a friend's place to steal their WiFi to do that big update. Then I can just tether anytime I want to do some light Internet usage. I think there is way too much wifi interference in my apartment to be able to use the gamepad in the lounge room though (with my Wii U in my room). At least I can play on my bed :3 thinking of just getting a HD second monitor rather than a TV.
  25. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I just impulse bought a Wii U + Mario Kart 8 bundle for AU$320 (US$250) \o/ My life is spiraling out of control. This should push me over to get something good from Club Nintendo, perhaps!
