  1. Plug your shit

Hello once again fellow Thumbs' listeners! It's been a real long time since I've posted in here, but I felt like I should wait until something special to update you all about Beacon. We *finally* revealed our debut trailer today! We've been holding off for so long to actually show gameplay, also we wanted to introduce the game with some flare, so we created a fancy cinematic intro inviting you into the world. If anybody is attending GDC, please stop by and say hi at the Unity booth as we'll be demoing the game during the event! Thanks again!
  2. Idle Thumbs 222: The Bubble Guy

    Ballsnakes?! Ball Snakes.
  3. [Release] Introduction To Video Games

This is soooo amazing! Every single one of these games looks incredible. Great work!
  4. Making Music. Tunes by Idle Thumbsters

Hey! I mostly post about Beacon on here (I do music for the game as well), but I also have my own personal Soundcloud, which is mainly 80s retro, synthwave/electro type stuff: https://soundcloud.com/axionmusic There's a bunch of other stuff on there as well, some tracks I made for game jams, or remixes of all varieties! I recently took a lot of my Synthwave tracks down because I got into the habit of posting too many samples or unmixed tracks, where in reality, I want to be posting finished songs. Hopefully I'll be updating the page with lots of new tunes soon!

Thank you! There is indeedy! https://twitter.com/MONOTHETIC is for our company, but we have fairly frequent updates regarding the game, with links to our devblog (new one going up today) Or you could follow me I guess (@arranseaton). I tend to post much more frequently with lots of in-progress stuff. But I also probably post a lot of dumb garbage.

Hey again folks!. A shameless update from myself regarding Beacon. We're less than a week away from EGX Rezzed & showing the game playable, for the first time ever! Hopefully it will attract some of you to come check us out and all the other rad games at the show The game has had quite the transformation over the past month as we are finishing up our demo build! We've probably had dozens of new assets made, loads of new animations created, original foley, particles, you name it. And I think it's starting to pay off. I'll let the screenshots do the talking! Also, some of the illustration work Tay has put together for our upcoming website! I'll spare posting any more for now haha. But we'll be putting up a new blog post this weekend, and a huge post-mortem of our time at EGX and all the work that went into it. Thanks everyone! Edit: Bonus stompy robots!
  7. EGX Rezzed: March 2015

Hey yes! We will be exhibiting Beacon at the show! Would be great to say hello to anyone from these forums. I'll probably be flaunting my Idle Vice tshirt on one of the days

Hey again everyone! Small update regarding Beacon! We've been picked to show the game off at EGX Rezzed 2015 as part of the Leftfield Collection! This is the first time we'll ever be showing the game publicly, with an exclusive playable build for the event. We are super excited and crazy nervous, but if you're attending the show, please do come and say hi! A handful of the team will be there to talk about the (probably slightly janky) pre-alpha build and chat about ourselves/the project. We're looking to get loads of valuable feedback! We also hope to have a short video teaser and the game's official website ready roughly around the start of March. But for now, check out this sweet poster Tay made for the announcement!

On the subject of music, I've been working on a new track for Beacon! Trying to nail that dark, glitchy vibe for the forest area: https://soundcloud.com/axionmusic/beacon-bgm-forest-teaser

Woah, thanks for the positive responses everyone! Really glad you all like it I'll refrain from posting updates in here too often, but if anyone is interested in the game, I could always make a thread later down the line in the game development sub-thread!

We had a big media round up for Beacon on our devblog today! http://devblog.monothetic.com/post/104613057535/a-good-ol-fashioned-roundup
  12. Everyone I know (myself included) that listens to Thumbs has a major man crush on Sean... Anywayyyyyyyys. The topic of the video is really great, I've been actively discussing it and sharing it everywhere, sadly had a few heated debates with guys who don't seem to understand how to recognise/acknowledge privilege or show empathy in any way, usually misconstruing it as a personal attack on their identity. It's also a disappointing fact that the purpose of this video is to reach the audience of gamers who typically knee-jerk convulse at the idea of having a women present these points without believing its some 'feminazi' misandrist argument. That presenting it with an all-male cast of developers and journalists will be taken more seriously amongst (guys in) the community, regardless of if it was the exact same message as Anita's regular features.
  13. Post your face!

Hi. Back home for holidays, my Mum owns this particularly notable mug....

I make things, occasionally video games, occasionally music, and rarely music for video games. I made my portfolio website using Squarespace (before it was cool pfftt) so i guess I should plug that. http://www.aseaton.squarespace.com/ I'm going to slowly turn it into a more traditional site, rather than it be a public show piece of my crap. I'd like to write more about my work as a developer, do opinion pieces and do videos/audio casts and streams and other cool shit. Also I need to buy a sweet domain name. More recent music stuff is located on my soundcloud, though most of it is unfinished versions of things I'm working on. https://soundcloud.com/axionmusic
