  1. Destiny

Yeah I can understand the allure of PvP events for some, but just like I'm sure a bunch of people didn't enjoy killing Draksis over and over again with Solar/Void/Arc Burn, Epic, and <insert Juggler or Lightswitch here> for the same Queen weapons/armor, I'm not super into a PvP event where The Best Gear Wins. On the note of the Queen's missions and the recent increase in Legendary drops via quests, does anyone else think it would be cool if on occasion (random, maybe like 10% of the time?) disenchanting/disassembling legendary gear had a chance to drop ascendant materials? I think that would be cool. I picked up probably 20 Queen's Guard Vests, and I uh, I only need one.
  2. Destiny

Yeah I'm actually really happy with where I am right now level-wise; I'll pop on for a short bit every evening to run a strike or two, do a daily, but I don't think I play more than an hour of Destiny on any given evening. It's freed up my Game Time, which is nice, since Destiny's run the yard since it launched.

    > implying Xur actually ever sells anything worthwhile Sounds good though, I should be home by then and online by 9pm eastern at the latest.
  4. Destiny

video games/spork What time are you online? I'll run the Weekly for kicks.
  5. Destiny

What with engrams dropping loot equal to their level now, I spent some motes on an exotic engram over the weekend and got the Knucklehead Radar out of it. Courtesy Destiny Wiki The big perk here is the Sensor Pack upgrade, which allows you to aim down the sights of a primary weapon and still have your radar function. I am very excited about this, since it seems like it will be super useful in the Crucible, and I have to grind out the 25 k/d bonus for Invective (did I get that bounty two weeks ago and just let it sit? Yes. Yes I did.). Also I was running around with... spork? on Sunday afternoon and it appeared that Xur decided to peace out early on Sunday. Is this normal? Or am I crazy?
  6. Destiny

Can confirm; installed update when I logged on today
  7. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Down Set Fight and Capote in Kansas are both excellent. This is a really solid bundle; I'm curious how many people buying this bundle haven't read Scott Pilgrim though, and thus how many people will pay over $15.
  8. Destiny

Not shocking; if you're accumulating enough to cap them I figure Bungie questions why you are even bothering in the first place. Like, you could not possibly care that much about shaders. That would not make sense (it totally makes sense, not having matching armor sets means you look like a nightmare)
  9. Destiny

I didn't fire up Destiny last night but Monday I ran a Queen's Wrath with Jon, Mike Danger, and Korax as a swap for Mike after he passed out. Every Queen's Wrath mission I have had so far has been Venus or earlier, with a special focus on killing Draksis. It gave us The Black Garden.
  10. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I've been notably on the Destiny/Hyrule Warriors kick lately, and I've dropped a *whole* bunch of other stuff in the process, and I... don't think I'll be picking most of it back up. I think I felt an obligation to dig through my PS+ backlog, and now I'm just not feeling it. DmC Devil May Cry was great but ran its course after about 5 chapters. There was a lot of Cool Stuff, and it sure as heck felt like Devil May Cry despite all the whining I heard, but it suffers from "I have other things to play because I make money now," whereas the old DMC games came out at a time when "well this is my game for the month I guess." Dragon's Crown and Muramasa: Rebirth both suffered the Vanillaware dilemma, wherein I just want them to be Odin Sphere. I made it through four dungeons in Dragon's Crown before realizing it would only be fun with four people and it's a game I was already playing in shame due to character design (I refused to buy it when it came out despite loving beat-em-ups, but if you give me something for free I will take it). I finished Momohime's quest in Muramasa and didn't feel like doing Kisuke's, and then promptly uninstalled. Tune in next time when I actually go through my PS3 library and go "wow I never finished these? dang"
  11. Destiny

Interesting! Is Gunslinger preferred over Bladedancer for Hunters, then? The addition of orbs/supers makes DPS classes in this game really fascinating, because classes that might inherently have a higher dps potential don't necessarily have the orb generation skills to back it up. Both Hunter classes have great orb generation, but Bladedancer generates orbs at a Not So Great pace unless you are *swarmed* by lower-tier enemies (husks, goblins), making it very situational depending on the boss fight. Gunslinger has three shots and guaranteed lotso orbs if you kill with each shot, but if you miss you're losing orbs, dps, and super meter. I can't speak to the other classes, but I've seen both Warlocks and Titans just spew orbs like candy from clearing hordes with their AoEs.
  12. Destiny

So basically Hunters are worthless for Nightfall/Raid and you just want Bubble Shield Titans (I do not know the actual subclass >_>) and Sunsingers Time to level another character for raids/nightfalls I guess
  13. Destiny

Do Nightfall missions attach the "teammates have to revive you, you cannot self-respawn" modifer as well? Because that seems supremely rude
  14. Destiny

Ballparking 7:15-7:30 is when I'll be home, so after food 8 EDT works for me as well
  15. Destiny

I do, and the internet was cooperating this weekend (while I played a non-internet game). What time are you looking at?
  16. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I spent my weekend pretty much doing nothing but play Hyrule Warriors. Quick thoughts in the worst form (bullet points) The Good: - Legend Mode is stupid fun. It is exactly the kind of nonsense plot you would expect from a Warriors game, and the mission quests actually feel like they mean something as opposed to Dynasty Warriors. In Dynasty Warriors, if you muck up a fire attack, it doesn't matter. In Hyrule Warriors, you've probably just lost the map. It lends a sense of urgency and meaning to what were once nuisances. - Boss fights are... good? I dunno, I liked them a lot, but that seems to be a point of contention. I can't really articulate why, they just kind of... did. - Adventure Mode is a brilliant idea. I thought I'd be mad, but I'm not. It's cute and goofy and some of the A ranks are infuriating to get, but I'm digging it. - All characters play great after a few shots. Once you start unlocking characters outside Legend Mode you've generally built up enough materials to get everyone a full moveset right off the bat, which is good. - The Questionable: - Replaying Adventure Mode maps for cards gets pretty old pretty fast, especially when they land on one of the full maps as opposed to one of the "kill x dudes" or "answer the questions haha." That said, materials as a bonus - Locking weapon levels in Adventure Mode makes sense on paper but is a little annoying when it comes to actually wanting to use a character on a map. - There are something like... 15 maps? Maybe more maybe less? I haven't figured out which map is optimal for experience yet, but the fact that I have to say "which map is optimal for experience" is a problematic statement. The Straight Nasty: - Grinding for materials is the *literal worst*. Boss materials are actually the easiest part; there are Adventure Mode missions that are quick five minute jaunts through a boss gauntlet, and you'll get 3 or 4 drops out of those. Base materials from enemy captains - especially the ones used by multiple characters - take a century to build up; and then you chew through them immediately. You get maybe 7 to 10 drops of the Token Bad Captain (Redead, Gibdo, Aeralfos, etc.) per 20-30 minute mission, and you'll chew through that immediately after. Off the top of my head I'd wager you need 70 or so of certain drops (MOBLIN FLANKS), which is a whole bunch of time running the single goddamn Skyloft mission. - Leveling is... bad. Your best bet is to pick one character (hint it's Link since you're forced to play Link more than anyone else), grind them up to 99, and then Pay Your Way with everyone else. That is... bad design. - ughhh the inherent misogyny and sexism in Cia's design and role as a character ughghghhhh tl;dr only buy if you are used to grinding in MMOs/RPGs and also a Warriors fan. No amount of love for Zelda will help you overcome the agony of the grind
  17. Destiny

Exotic Bounties are 100% random from what I've gathered. I should get cracking on mine (and Destiny in general) again now that the Zelda lust has been temporarily satiated.
  18. Destiny

Oh my god I saw the lifebar, yelled "WE GOT IT" and then *bang* everything goes black I've cursed at video games before, but the cascade of excessively loud profanities that spewed from my mouth were Next Level
  19. Destiny

Hey, sincere apologies to spork, Jon, and juv3nal for last night; my internet decided it was going to be a fickle demon-beast, and then a power surge hit as well, knocking out pretty much everything Things got back up and running, but I was in no mood to continue to get kicked from a match every five seconds. I might be playing Destiny a bit less these next couple of days; this mounting frustration with my own network (I can't just blame Bungie) and Hyrule Warriors coming out is probably going to distract me. That said, if you shoot me a message on PSN it should show up on my phone, and I'll see if I can make some convoluted set up involving wires and Vitas and sitting right next to the WAP.
  20. Destiny

Yeah! We had the same thing when we beat Draksis for the first time after four wipes. "We are all god-beings, bestow unto us our Phat Loot" Finally crushing a really hard mission in Destiny gives me a rush I haven't gotten from a game in a long time, and that means a lot to me.
  21. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Super rad! Tegan, I love love love "Through The Woods." I think Emily Carroll is one of the best people doing comics right now. Her free horror stuff has always been great (get excited for the yearly Halloween post!), and Through The Woods is incredible as well. If you haven't read "His Face All Red," that's free, and all the other stuff in the collection is just as good or better (I'm partial to "The Nesting Place").
  22. Destiny

Yeah, we had a lot of "Arc Damage increased" on those Draksis runs, and that meant that Vandals could kill you in a single burst if you weren't paying attention. Ditto for "Solar Damage increased" when I got the Gate Lord mission and the aforementioned Hobgoblins. "Oh this going we-" *BANG* "The Darkness Has Consumed You"
  23. Destiny

I think they drop pretty frequently in Strike Playlist; we could get a group together over the weekend and just bang a bunch out. Most of us are 24 and higher at this point, so I think we should be alright for just running 24s back to back.
  24. Destiny

Are we bffs on PSN? I can be up a bit later tonight since I don't have to Gym in the morning. (also I said I was going to bed last night and got back up at midnight and ran Crucible unilt 1am or something, so I am terrible)
  25. Destiny

All complaining aside, can we agree that Queen's Wrath missions guaranteeing a legendary drop is the best player feedback thing Bungie has done so far? I think that's super rad; the missions are challenging and rewarding, and get you used to teamwork and gear you up so you can tackle the Vault of Glass. That said, I am now not looking forward to grinding spinmetal and relic iron...
