  1. Movie/TV recommendations

He shouldn't have got his memory back either
  2. Movie/TV recommendations

Saw Carol. You know how from the trailer and press it looks like one of those empty, worthy, "give us an Oscar" films? It's not that. At all. Really liked it. Anyone seen it?
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

Wouldn't have seen it by choice but it was a secret screening thing where you don't know what you're seeing until the title comes up. Really cool idea because I never see films in the cinema knowing nothing about them. Without having seen a trailer or something.

Black Mass! Really boring and pointless and derivative and Johnny Depp has a stupid rubbery face. Went to see The Lady in the van with my dad as he likes Alan Bennett. Enjoyed some of it, just a nice middle of the road, lovely British comedy. The main lads Alan Bennett impression is spot on and the most enjoyable bits were when he was having conversations with himself. Was expecting to hate it

He really was great in this. Love him as Cromwell too

Uh oh. What did I say...

Saw bridge of Spies and thought it was alright, fine. Loved Mark Rylance. Felt a bit too long(seemed to drag a bit when Rylance stopped being in it for a bit) and was kinda patronising in places.

Cheers for the well wishes. Nervous but I've just found out there is a carvery right across the road from the office. Roast dinners everyday!
  9. Life

Got told I'd got a job 2 days ago. Went on to sign a load of stuff today and I start on Monday. First actual job, I'm shitting it to be honest.
  10. Books, books, books...

    Double post, sorry
  11. Books, books, books...

Ive had Dear Life for ages and have tried to start it a few times but other things got in the way. Must go back. Think I got as far as the first 2
  12. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

All I've really managed to make so far is four metal walls with a door frame and some stairs leading to nowhere. Feels like there should be a separate specific camera mode as well. EDIT: Another pathetic/minor aesthetic quibble I have is that you don't holster your weapon it just pops in and out of your hand
  13. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

Last night I enjoyed clearing out an entire warehouse of raiders while I was wearing a lovely red dress, wielding a bat and classical music played. Then I went for a wander and got killed repeatedly by Super Mutants, Deathclaws, Bugs, pretty much everything. Mostly enjoying it, can't get in to the base building though. Seems quite fiddly and don't think it's explained very well
  14. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Played this for about 120 hours now. Still not finished it. I'm just enjoying going on adventures with my robot buddy and blasting Gloria, hunting for S rank soldiers and barbecuing the unworthy. I love it, obviously. It's one of my favourite games of the year, maybe ever but at the same time it's really disappointing. Know what I mean? Like it's potential was even greater! Best game of the year and also the biggest disappointment.
  15. Other podcasts

Id like to recommend "The wonder of it all" a podcast about film. The first 5 episodes have been about different aspects of horror films. It's an amateur/enthusiast podcast for people really in to films.2 people have a conversation about subjects like the thing, hating horror, Ti West... the host and his guests are smart and have some great discussions. Start with episode 2 though, the first doesn't have a guest and isn't as good.

  19. Movie/TV recommendations

I went to see inside out today and I don't think I stopped smiling all the way through. Apart from when I was crying and one bit towards the end when someone on the front row had their phone out and was holding it up. Still feel really smiley but also like I'm about to cry. Go see it yo
  20. Books, books, books...

Hadnt been up to reading much for a while because LIFE. BUT last week I went up to Scotland on holiday and managed to make a dent in the third Neapolitan novel by Elena ferrante in between climbing massive hills http://imgur.com/nzV0wMk Spent the first hundred pages or so desperately waiting for one of the main characters to turn up because things are just so much more interesting when she's around but then she does and its ace! These books are good the fourth and final one is out September first, the same day as MGSV! Big day. BIG day. Anyone interested in a Neapolitan/Ferrante thread?
  21. Elizabeth Moss was rumoured to be playing the Rachel McAdams role for a while so all through the episode I was imagining what it would be like with her in the role then I started thinking about top of the lake and then I wished I was watching top of the lake.
  22. Cool. Looking forward to this. Season 1 was alright! Now I don't know whether to rewatch the first series now or wait and watch along...
  23. Books, books, books...

I liked the books I read at that age at school, To kill a mockingbird, Gatsby. Mostly because the teacher was ace and really loved the books she was teaching.
  24. Books, books, books...

I've been unsettling the other passengers on my commute to work by cackling to myself as I read American Psycho. Hip!
  25. Twin Peaks Discussion

I don't know whether this has already been discussed but is there actually anything concrete about Diane or is it left ambiguous? I always thought she was fictional and the tapes were just a way for cooper to organise his thoughts. An outlet. Thoughts?
