Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready
sucks2Bme replied to SuperBiasedMan's topic in Idle Banter
All the ramens look great! And the pies too! Here's my pie, made it last week but taking my sweet time to post it. Followed this recipe: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/9644/nofuss-shepherds-pie but used beef instead of lamb as it was cheaper and easier to find. The "filling" was a little watery, I think I didn't measure the broth completely and added too much but it was still delish. -

Tried my hand at this. Looked at a bunch of recipes, but they all used ingredients I didn't have time to find (really busy weeks.) Came out pretty good actually. Singlespace pointed out I overcooked the eggs for ramen, which should be gelatinous. Must have missed this. The stock/soup was chicken+soy sauce base with a little bit of chili paste thrown in. It was tasty, but had a bit too much salt/soy sauce. -

Here are my 2 attempts, form the seriouseats recipe that cordeos posted. Did it twice because the recipe said to cook it for 12-15 minutes but after 5 it was already getting burned. good stuff! -
gave an upvote! good luck! Looks pretty rad but I would be shit at it

Mandatory income is currently in effect in a few Swiss Cantons, and I think Finland and/or Norway as well in some regions. The problem with looking at a minimum income in the US is because its so big, and economies and cost of living vary from place to place. But it really isnt just about pure capital. There is enough food grown to feed the world, no problem really (as long as we don't burn it or do cash crops) In the first world, we can basically shift priorities and everyone could live at a basic level without worry. There will be some kinks etc. to work out in such a system. However, that would also mean that the wealthy and the families thereof would no longer be allowed to be (as) wealthy. Stop doing the war thing would be a huge help as well. Yea, its idealistic and requires a grand paradigm shift, but it's not entirely impossible.

Since we were talking about Philip K Dick Heres a robot that supposedly looks like him http://www.hansonrobotics.com/robot/philip-k-dick-android/

Some works inspired/based on Dick are really good thought. This popped up on recommended for you on Steam but I don't know much about it. Looks cool though.

Yes, cheesesteaks are the best! and yea I usually cook them Corderos, but I was trying to be a good boy and follow the recipe to a t, since i generally tend to wing it and use recipes as a "guide". When I do it though, i tend to boil them for a bit to soften them and then roast them. -

Made this recipe here, its a friend's blog. Philly Cheese steak stuffed peppers Didn't really like it. The cold crunchy peppers with the warm steak and onion felt really weird side by side. Also, i got the biggest peppers i could find and I like peppers but i don't love peppers. On the plus side, you could eat them like sandwhiches. Not how I normally do stuffed peppers, but the next day I chopped up the rest and made proper philly cheese -

I present you with Kitchen Sink Chili I started by soaking a bag of white dry beans for 24 hours, then draining, then cooking them for 1.5 hours, then draining then adding it to the following mix: I browned some minced meat, onions, garlic, shredded carrots. had some salami and diced some of that up and threw it in too. Got some peppers from a friends birthday party leftovers, so chopped a few of those as well and threw them in. then i added two packs of tomato puree and then the beans, and added some vegetable broth. Brought to a boil and then turned down the heat. Found some mushrooms so chopped those up too and threw them in. Then I added a package of spicy smoked paprika spices, one package chili spices, one package provencal herbs then I added some flour to thinken it (at this point i was just tossing stuff in) let cook for about an hour and stirred. tasted good. was very spicy. -

Here are my pancakes, i mean crepes. As for the beans, do they have to be dry, or can we used canned? I only ask because I am horrible at cooking dry beans. No matter what I do (how long i soak them, boil them, cook them, voodoo them) they always seem too raw. but maybe now its my time to try to learn! (again) -

First time making crepes, much less savory ones. I worked off this recipe here - Spinach Artichoke and Brie Crepes with Sweet Honey Sauce but switched fried mushrooms for the artichokes, because I didn't find any artichokes here that looked good. Anyway, I think i need more practice making crepes, for sure. The filling was good (but needed more spinach) but the problem was I think my crepes were too thick, as I did not know how to make them properly i guess. Also, putting them in the fridge didn't really help them remain intact when folding. I think I am going to try again, and I should probably read the article Corderos posted, but I was a little eager to start. Additionally, I couldn't find any whole grain flour here on a Sunday, apparently its usually only sold in health food shops. -
So the creator of The Stanley Parable has a new game out
sucks2Bme replied to namman siggins's topic in Video Gaming
I played the game and then a few weeks later watched my girlfriend play it. She's a fan of The Stanley Parable so she was interested. I took a passive role, just enjoying watching her interact with a game and noticing the differences between how we approach them. Anyway, at the end her words were "Fuck Davey. I hate him." We keep trying to figure out the meaning and what the narrative is, and she played it more straight, as if this was real, as if coda was real. The game tells us not to look deep into the game (or games in general) and to not project or make assumptions about the creator and their message. I thought it was interesting how approaching it in a different way creates a completely different experience. But maybe that's obvious and I live under a rock. -
nice to hear that. Looking to pick it up when I get a chance. I keep going into the editor to make something cool, but then nothing ever happens. haven't looked into the mod scene in a wile for that game, is it alive and kicking?

I don't think there is any deeper meaning to it, other than just being a silly set up. The only commentary I picked up on was on the working conditions in the industry. At the same time, in the second playthrough you can listen to the tapes you find strewn about and they seem to be making fun of game designers and their ideas. so who knows. great piece of marketing though, as it made me pay attention to Crowscrowscrows and sign up for their newsletter, and I am sure I am not the only one. -

It is a long shot, but you can take a look at King of Dragon's Pass. for scheming on a much smaller scale, there is an IF game called Varicella by Adam Cadre that might hit some kind of nerve. And there is a political simulator whose name escapes me, but i think its more focused on elections and such. but yea, most of these kinds of games are boardgames because well, computers kind of suck at diplomacy

I don't find any of LoL's model evil. Annoying maybe, but not evil. If you are buying XP boosts to get ingnite... chances are very low you will be playing against other characters that do not have access to it. As long as there are players at the same level but because LoL is so big, I find that unlikely (unless you are queing with higher level accounts) Therefore it is no advantage to reach "ignite" faster.

it looks intimidating, but its lots of fun. and i like the people here. so, uh, take a lil to get used to it. its totes worth
