You are correct that I was expressing interest. A time that suits me.... well my schedule is pretty loose. Some time at the weekend in Europe is what I would say... but I think I'm the only European? Given that you're trying to juggle American timezones with Merus in Australia, I have a feeling it wont work very well and i may need to bow out unless another DM surfaces. I very much agree, there's wanting silly fun and then there's being disruptive. I just wondered about an idea of tone, since I haven't done an RPG thing before. -
One thing to be cautious of is that the British one is based on the same books as the Netflix one, so you might spoil the overall plot if that matters to you. They seem to follow each other pretty closely. Having watched both, I didn't feel like I needed any political knowledge for either to be a fun watch (which is good because I know little about either of your politics) But the British one had nowhere near the same kind of production values and performance as the Kevin Spacey one so I'd say undoubtedly I preferred the latter.

I like that your dream just abruptly ended with that gag.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
SuperBiasedMan replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
The game is implying that they're receiving genetic material. Of course that ignores gay male sexuality and means that appearing sexually attractive to any female is redundant yet in my first interaction with an Asari in ME1 I accidentally got her to sleep with my femshep. (I was saying I expected more of a reward for something I did and it turns out that didn't just mean some sweet equipment) Also just in case Griddelol or anyone else is unsure, they never appear as males. Just as women. -
I feel it's ethically questionable because by paying for it you are creating a monetary incentive for people to present information that would be used to prosecute people. Realistically, a decent person wouldn't need the money to come forward, so this is to push people who would otherwise hesitate to do it purely for the moral reasons. But it will also draw out people who only care about the money, and that can easily make for dodgy information and questionable accusations. I really don't think it's a good idea, since she'll only have to sort through the information she gets for legitimate evidence, then suffer through complaints and accusations from the people who gave unusable information saying she cheated them. All for the sake of getting information from the small section of people who do care about more than the money but need a monetary incentive to push them over the edge of giving info.

That also sort of addresses (though not directly) how GG specifically says you can't paint them all as the same, while they specifically group everyone who actively doesn't support GG as if they're an anti-GG movement with one widespread consistent identity.

I think the main issue with this is the logistics of organising a day. I have a large immediate family (2 parents, 10 children, 8 spouses and 6 grandchildren) so we have to do our best to co-ordinate a time when we can all gather. Christmas is a good way to obligate the less sociable of us to do so. And even then, we usually designate a day that's a weekend before Christmas, so people can be with their other families on the 25th of December. Actually, on that. Are there nationalities here that celebrate Christmas on a different day? I found out that it's the 24th in Sweden and it seemed weird that it would be different by just that one day. So I'm curious if anyone else defies the western developed english speaking country norm.

Which means that no, the genetic stuff isn't really displayed as useful. At least not in any of what I played. -

How seriously will it be taken? I like the idea of doing one where I get to be goofy and come up with fun creative stuff rather than following a particular combat or ruleset. This may or may not make sense to people, but the kind of thing where if say, we came across a dragon, people were willing to run with it when I said I wanted to ask the dragon if it had a bad day. (even if the response was to breathe fire on me) -
My birthday is at the end of November, so I just always assume that Americans are celebrating it when they talk about Thanksgiving. It's very nice of you all.

I played your game before and I really liked how the Dads just plough on regardless of what dialogue options you choose. Very true to dad form. Also... maybe this isn't that much help now, after you've made your framework. But I know of a framework called Fungus that exists for this style of game, I don't know if it handles inventory or not yet but it does dialogue boxes and switching screens and the main things you'd need. Here's the link in case you wanna check it out, maybe it could still help a bit. -
...unfortunately I can't help with the actual questions. D:

I've tried using those methods but had issues trying to do that while making AddForce(transform.forward) work correctly. It seems to push the forward vector to the entirely wrong plane, meanwhile up and right (the other two potential directions) are no use to me. I think it might be easier if I just readjust the whole system to use 3D colliders and physics instead of 2D. Part of my googling suggests that the performance loss is actually pretty minimal anyway.

Cyberpunk Cop Killah (aka The Last Night)
SuperBiasedMan replied to singlespace's topic in Video Gaming
Hi Tim, thanks for coming in to engage. I wanted to point to one thing you said. The actual number doesn't matter that much, it's about the percentage. There are much MUCH fewer women in games. I'm talking about in terms of characters and generic NPCs. Most of the time, a character will only be a woman if there's a special reason to be, otherwise the creator defaults to making a man. So even though you have probably killed a lot more men since the majority of NPC enemies and villains are men, the idea is that almost always will a woman be a target of violence or can be a target of violence. When men are usually agents of violence themselves, not just a target. -
No claims so far, so they're both yours.

In my film class, our lecturer was showing us that film. He frequently paused to discuss things about the film (it took two 3 hour classes to watch it this way). During one of these pauses he told us that spoiler and said it was a great choice but very disconcerting for the audience.

I find it weird that you could misread chimp that way, ch is not an uncommon sound. But I don't think the girl sounded very distressed about her mistake. Also about the latest episode

That was really fun, I like the idea of taking a music tool and having it reshaped by the whims of the physics engine. And the (presumably) random sizing of the boxes made for some weird results. Like when there was only a single small pillar or another time when there were 4 huge towers that collapsed in a big mess and made it impossible for me to read the sequence any more. I'm curious about the name, is it because of the potential for messes like I mentioned above or was it something else? -
I had trouble when I spent way too long trying to find a room in the courthouse one day only to realise I had the wrong day... and I had wasted a whole day on it. I thought it was really great at making you feel like you screwed with that, and when I went to meet my ex in the courthouse and he was there on time with the judge. They were both super accommodating assholes and I was a mess with lofty ambitions of a cart when I didn't even know where to buy a cart and I was just lugging around a shopping bag full of ground coffee, sugar and milk. It was really good at making you feel shit and lost in those moments, it just didn't manage to do it without having to cheat you on how it structures time.

I have also been playing Psychonauts! I played a little ages ago but the constant pestering me to collect stuff was pretty grating. "Collect these, so you can use them to go buy this thing that you can use to collect more things!" And lately I've been trying to play games in a way where I focus on main storyish stuff 90% of the time (I wander a bit, but I never try the sidequests). I've already gotten much further, and I'm enjoying the way the storytelling deviates from a traditional rigid level style structure. I wont spoil when/why, but at times it cuts a level short for a narrative reason and then you can later revisit it. I look forward to figuring out how it ends, seeing if my presumptions pan out. The other thing I'm playing is Dragon Age Origins, which I'm also not dwelling in the side content of and mostly trying to get the main story. ...and I also got a mod so that I can instantly win any encounter without effort. I basically don't care about the combat, it's not bad but it's not why I'm playing the game. Using this mod is the closest way I can approximate the game into being an interactive story/walking simulator. As for the story, I do like that I'm always trying to figure out who to trust in any exchange, and based on whether or not I trust their information what is the best option available. I'm not really trying to roleplay so much as make my own judgements and I want to see where that leads me. Ideally...

I'd love the Colbert report to release a full interview video and have it just be the exact same as the other video. ...knowing GG they would say "Aha! See, she does flounder!"

I had a similar feeling with Cart Life that put me off trying to play it proper. I figured time being your enemy was a big part of the point but it seems like time is so vindictively screwing you over with unrealistic timeframes. And also when I was playing, everyone kept saying how important it was I get a cart. And I could not figure out where to get one for dayyyyys. And no progress was made either, except by process of elimination, determining where I could not get a cart. It's a shame because I wanted to try it with all the praise but the way it was structured it made it so time pushed aggressively instead of just being a looming benevolent force.
