Pretty much, yes. If you get there, tell me what you think. I just looked up the synopsis so I'd be curious to hear how a real read of it goes.

I think the idea was that we only needed hope in response to the evils of the world. But that always made me think that it was a shitty silver lining given the cost is required.
-
The best part of this is that you might mean the surface weirdness or the deeper level of weirdness.

Going by the original legend of Pandora that read is potentially true since opening the box released a bunch of bad stuff into the world but then also one good thing (hope). But that requires that the action had a bunch of unintended negative consequences.

When I tried to find it before (after hearing about it on Thumbs) I couldn't seem to, though I'm pretty sure I didn't hear about it when the episode was new. So either it was taken down for a period or was unavailable to certain regions? Either that or I suck at looking for android games.

Drop7 has been released on Android Note: It's a free version with an in app purchase to remove ads. Also the amount is 1.50 in £ for some reason?

It was not available at the time of your posting but it is here now. -
I'm still playing 80Days and it's still being damn fantastic.

Idle Thumbs 199: Bogost in the Shell
SuperBiasedMan replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Personally I would like if stuff like this gave them the impetus to make more esoteric missions. The most simple suggestion I immediately think of being maybe one where you have a single target and should avoid damaging anyone or anything else. -
Idle Thumbs 199: Bogost in the Shell

I loved Goosebumps, I don't think that love was really harmed too much by the realisation that it barely had anything to do with spooky horror as much as it did twist endings. -
That's what I was responding to about the literally dieing bit, but I see now you weren't directly addressing trans stuff just the potential to get killed for making a mistake. Also I didn't see your edit from the previous page, I was responding on the premise that you meant even to an individual you wouldn't respect their request to use a certain pronoun on the basis of being silly. But really just read above, that expresses my response to what you said way better than I did.

I've been listening to soundtracks while working and I feel like I'm cracking a bit more of what Transistor was all about, so much so I kinda wanna replay now since I didn't really understand the first time round.
-
I don't know where you live but if you can be literally killed for saying words supportive of trans people then it must be hell for trans people themselves. Self preservation is a pretty good reason to do something, sure, but that doesn't mean it's not selfish. You are still choosing to value your life over theirs.I'm not nit picking for the sake of it by the way. I'm responding to the dismissive tone you used. It felt similar to things like "All lives matter" or when people argue that there bigger problems to be tackled before feminism. You can engage with these ideas on some level (eg online where you're relatively anonymous), it's dishonest to pretend otherwise.

Yeah I think tonally it was weird and ham fisted.

Death can be symbolic. Their relationship with Andy dies, the only they clung to desperately even as he clearly lost interest in toys because he naturally grew out of it. The film starts with them all essentially pining for the good old days. Then they go to day care, where they can essentially have an arrested development with kids always there to play with them but no meaningful relationship to be had. They have sort of accepted their break up with Andy but they're staying on the rebound because they never got closure and that makes them wary of beginning a new life. At the end, they accept their symbolic death because they're marching toward it inevitably. They're pulled out of the furnace because they've learned the important emotional lesson that sometimes you have to accept the end even if you desperately don't want to. Then they have their closure with Andy and move on to a new life with the little girl at the end of the movie. By contrast, 2 is about people who are still in a functioning relationship fearing the potential end so much that they prematurely try to seal themself off from connection. (note, Pete was in a box for most of that movie)

That's fine, I just want you to acknowledge that this is selfish rather than supportive.

I've had some alcoholic beverages, please give me a blank cheque to not take responsibility for my upcoming actions.

Because some stuff breaks through in specific pieces of content but generally broad premises and ideas are heavily moderated.
-
I mean, by contrast it's a real effort to avoid various sexist and racist behaviours that you have subconsciously learned but I'd expect most people here think it's worthwhile to make that effort.

Are they calling it a HD Collectors Edition?
-
You recognise this is the exact case where you could show solidarity, right? Especially given the fact that people are even more disposed to kicking in the shins of trans people in.

I like how the hero can't kill the villain but they must still always die. I've been hearing lately that children's media contains a lot more deaths than other media (whether on screen or just informed eg. My parents died when I was little)

This is not that, but Swedish added hen (han is he, hon is her) to be a gender indefinite word and vague reports I've heard say that it's going well.

Yeah, when I had a brief 5/6 episode run of a podcast that is what I did with a good friend. The editing and both being busy is what slayed our attempt. I love that you two just met on Twitter. Now I wanna hear how that first episode sounded.
