  1. It's a shame as well because TF2 has a community system where anyone can make something to submit to the workshop, and if the game devs like it they'll put it in the game and give the creator a cut. I'm sure that's tough to get plenty of developers on board with but this system is a logistical mess.
  2. Quantized Roguelike Chess Dancing: Crypt of the Necrodancer

Oh man, I still never even beat zone 3 after I got super into this. I didn't get burned out so much as busy but I definitely want to do the one run a day approach.
  3. [Release] Beppo's Hole

Blast! I thought that link could be shared, here's one that should work: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2cgfqwgmfvq7dhj/GifShotty.gif?dl=0
  4. [Release] Beppo's Hole

I've been tightenin up those graphics, so here's an updated gif of the hole. At this point, I mostly want to set up a fun level to run through and try establish a good ruleset for the game. I do wanna include spaghetti somehow but I'm still unsure how it factors in. When adding audio I would definitely like to also add splashy sauce effects that burst out with all the collisions and stay persistently in the world, but that might become quite taxing on this little game.
  5. QUILTBAG Thread of Flagrant Homoeroticism

It definitely tracks to social Otherness but I've never seen/heard anything that is actually meant to tie it to any particular outcast group.
  6. Post your face!

    I like the hair.
  7. [RELEASE] Could I borrow your hair? (I Like the Hair)

I have sent you a lock of my hair~
  8. Welcome to WIZARD JAM

    Final days?
  9. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

I think that example mostly shows that it's the tone and little details of writing that gave later episodes a different feel even if they're comparable on paper, Grimes Homer doesn't seem the same as Leftorium Homer. And, the episodes treat them totally differently. We see Ned's business failing while he maintains a stiff upper lip, it's a human portrayal of despair when the thing he's dreamed of for so long is dieing and killing his own family's lifestyle. It hammers on Homer's conscience to the point that Homer actually rounds up enough people to save Ned's business. The joke of Grimes is that Grimes is unprivileged while Homer is privileged beyond what he realises. Homer remains totally ignorant of it, and ignorant to the suffering of Grimey, while everyone in the show just laughs at the antics, uncaring. It ends with Grimes dieing and Homer being asleep at his funeral, while everyone laughs at his antics again. Forget about even judging quality, these are just two very different tones to write an episode on and definitely give a different portrait of Homer and a whole different worldview.
  10. [Release] Beppo's Hole

This ain't a dead log, it's a dev log. I was busy towards the end of last week but I've been busying over the weekend on more of the art stuff. Here's a quick screenshot of the inside of Beppo's Hole. And also a sneak peek of one piece from of the wall decorations I'm doing at the moment. As for gameplay, I've been playing around with the movement and system. And a change to the vomiting mechanic has adjusted the feel of the game. Now vomit propels not only propels you backwards but also rises you upwards very slightly, to give you a height boost and allow you to reach onto higher platforms. Having tweaked the values, it's functioning like a sweet jetpack that's out of control. I'm playing around with how exactly it will go, but I'm thinking more like a race to escape Beppo's Hole and see how quickly you can manage it without meatballs smacking down on you and holding you back. I plan to get a nice gif of it soon, after I add in some more of the sprites and more of a level design than erratically placed rectangles.
  11. [DEV LOG] Missing Molyneux

I was missing this episode title and the premise does not disappoint, looking forward to it!
  12. It is possible to re enable the api needed to run the plug in. Just open chrome and put this in the address bar: chrome://flags Then you can go to 'enable NPAPI' and turn that back on then quit and reopen chrome and your plug ins will work again. This is a temporary fix cause they plan to ditch the API entirely by September but it'll do for the jam.
  13. I Had A Random Thought...

Oh wow, really? I've never heard that, that's crazy to think but would certainly trickle down through the industry.
  14. I Had A Random Thought...

Yeah, contradictory to above the closed nature of iDevices is extremely off putting to me and means I'll likely never bother getting one unless that changes or working compels me (like working on a iThing app/game). The computers themselves have an element of that but it's easy enough to circumvent to never bother me.
  15. I Had A Random Thought...

I had a MacBook a few years and I really do miss it. It sands off a lot of the corners that Windows just leaves to jab into you all the time. It's a much nicer experience to use, and really does good details. Because really, Windows doesn't give a shit about making the experience really good, they focus largely on function and leave it that. Things like having the default image program able to perform some basic image editing is phenomenally useful. Macs can have a problem with being too smooth to the point of obfuscating functions that you want, but when everything else works so well then you just accept those pitfalls. Tons of people do use them in graphics industries, I'm guessing because of the nice interface and the reliable powerful machines that really do get used by their work.
  16. Idle Thumbs 206: Owen Wilson's Nose

I think Chris once said he likes to mix up the arrangement a little and play with it rather than always using a straight up reuse of a canonical theme. In this case particularly I think it might be cause some people have remarked that they particularly enjoyed the first appearance without any audio. I am suddenly compelled to listen to all 200+ themes in a row to head the minor differences.
  17. It's also relevant how hard you're pushed for those 40 hours and there's an emphasis put on the work to the detriment of the worker.
  18. Life

Saying that there's a growing up aspect to bullying is a subtle form of victim blaming and really only works in retrospect given that you have survived it relatively unscathed while others have not. It's as if the only narrative that exists is a TV one where you find inner strength and overcome the obstacle in the end without any lasting effects. Instead there are people who commit suicide from overwhelming bullying, and the fault of this is squarely with the bullies and not the people who didn't learn to become stronger.
  19. Who did you hook up with? (Mass-Effect series)

In ME1 I accidentally romanced Kaiden. I was just flirting about with him for fun, then all of a sudden he got all serious and I'm stuck in this relationship. I wasn't sure what to do but a while later this dangerous mission came up, so naturally I sent him to take care of it. He died, and that's how we broke up. I think we're both happier for it. In 2 it was even rougher. I asked out the scientist but he said no so I ended up on the rebound and dating this assassin who was sad about losing his wife. That kind of fizzled when I just never went to see him again.
  20. Life

The flatness is weird but the emptiness even more so. Ireland is full of hills and fields of stuff. You can barely see anything in my south eastern region unless you're elevated.
  21. [RELEASE][Devlog] WIZARD SPORTS (Updated to v1.1!)

Oh wow, are the Thumb dialogues going to be Starfox style call out things?
  22. [Release] Beppo's Hole

I've got movement, meatballs and eating. ...I need to make the graphics though (and to add particles to the barfing mechanic).
  23. [Release] Beppo's Hole

That'd be awesome, thanks! I definitely think that audio will be an important part of the feel. I'm already thinking about stuff like you get stuck to walls and just slide down them or there's slippy saucy floors. Having audio to pull on those would definitely sell the effect. I'm out for the day today but I'll send you a PM later.
  24. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

At one point a Thumb (whether they were an official Thumb or fan I can't remember) bought a GiantBomb URL to redirect to Idle Thumbs as a joke in the height of IT have tons of wacky domains that direct to them. That was a joke that could have looked like squatting but no-one had any real problem with it.
