Kieron Gillen was great. I liked his thoughts on the utilitarian nature of games as well as Zelda. Agreed with him on both accounts. This is a bummer, I'll miss the cast. The latest one was really good (especially the Beginner's Guide chatter) and made the news harder. Re: Undertale. If your problem with difficulty is the bullet hell sections or just generally not having enough health it will only get harder. You might be better off just watching let's plays I'm afraid. It's a shame it's too hard for some people, because I feel like it's a rare case of the difficulty being a worthwhile aspect to the message. In part it's difficult because it suits the emotional journey. It is easier to reject empathy and kill things, but easier is not the same as better. Also I didn't even notice the assumed competence of RPG mechanics. I have played a few, probably not a ton. I expect people like me suggest it wholeheartedly, not even realising there is the competence required. It's also funny that you said it was boring compared to WoW, because I feel the exact same way about it. I only played low level basic WoW, so the combat is just boring as other RPGs since all you do is click to use attacks.

Often it seems like currency is just a low level gating mechanic to prevent you growing too fast too quick. When that's the main point, who cares how it ends up near the end of the game, by then you're so near the end game that most gates are flung open.

Played Timesplitters 2 on a emulator with my brother tonight. It's still so fun, it just engages me much more than other non TF2 shooters have. I love the silly fun characters, settings and modes. No other can say one of their match modes is based on monkeys. Wish there was a modern online version but I bet it would tank for being "poorly balanced".

Twin Peaks is a very flawed piece of work but one of the greats in my opinion. If you can accept some junky elements it's well worth watching. Plus you've got a podcast companion in Twin Peaks Rewatch (they always have a separate spoiler section so new viewers can listen to most of the episode safely).

Yeah, the game is actually really quite hard if you're avoiding fights. To beat the boss I actually had to stock up on healing stuff after ignoring it all game. I recommend watching other endings if you don't intend to replay. There's some good meat on those other bones. Also I never even found the temmie village, but I agree Metaton's section dragged on. Much as I liked the character you spent a long chunk of time in that section and they're a lot of specialist games that are less thrilling, like the cooking show, the news section and the multiple fights against him. It doesn't help to realise

Yeah I thought the art mostly just did the job to be honest. I like pixel art but this style wasn't a key part of my love for the game.

I think this is confusing to us since we've learned our way so well it's been abstracted into our brains as how basic calculation works and is semi automatic. So if you try to consciously figure it out a new way it's very disruptive. Think about it this way. You know how to walk, but you have no clue how to move those individual muscles, you just walk.

Sad to see Danielle wake up and discover it's the weekend but looking forward to the new cast! I like how the Thumbs realised the only way to have an organised, prepared Thumbcast was to not only rely on Danielle to do it, but also to quarantine themselves out of being on the cast.

Me too, so I just got a keyboard that has actually good auto correct because it pays attention to the words I use. Every time I type "of the" it suggests 'Necrodancer' is my next word.

Hey, all you losers/poor souls who never got to play 80 Days because of mobile games being awkward. It's out on Steam now! It's apparently nice and crisp, and has even more ContentTM than before. For all us losers that played it on mobile, we get the new content as a free update!

I think it might've been hard to port because they made it in some odd game engine, can't remember what. But yeah, it could happen but there's a lot of absence of word on it so I wouldn't be surprised if it vaporises.

Maybe I'm extrapolating from some emphatic recommendations? I don't read a lot of press to get a diverse range of praise. Also no they didn't fix the bugs. There was meant to be an updated version of the game ported to a less buggy engine but they stopped posting about it in the Steam forums a few months ago. I feel a bit bad for the dudes, having a lot of people clamoring for their money's worth on the steam forums when they want to move on to a new game instead.

Actually that is the one I was talking about. ...it's even worse realising that Brothers a Tale of Two Sons does basically the same thing.
