Just played Capsule which Chris mentioned on the cast at some point. Took me <80 minutes to finish. A nice simple game with sweet abstract graphics. You pilot a capsule around, managing your air and fuel as you navigate to co-ordinates. Simple but tense, and paced well too. I think it's in the autumn sale right now too.

This is despite the fact that they're having daily sales highlights, which I guess is just a spotlight that doesn't affect the prices?

I similarly feel like I wanna replay it at some point, probably afterwards though because even while playing I really don't think I'm grasping the game fully at all. I'd love a podcasty/video discussion about it à la the Twin Peaks Rewatch, where it's not so much deep thorough analysis as it is a discussion of stuff that the game does I might not have picked up on.

TAKE THEM TO THE DUNGEON

I think the bad rap comes from whether or not you often share majority opinion. I don't feel like I do, so a 62 on Metacritic tells me nothing at all, but reading why someone disliked a game will tell me whether or not I care about the issues they had with it.

Oh sweet! I backed this years back especially because I loved the claymation episode of Community. I am even more eagerly awaiting my downloadable copy now.

Make sure you're constantly playing loud Idle Thumbs tracks/episodes when you do.

It is exactly that yes Gor. (I also thought jenna was long term, and sure enough she predates my signing up!) I also think we have the best (albeit confusing) thread titles.

Hah, is that new? I've been here a year and a half and I feel kinda like the newness has faded. (also thought you were a longtime resident Bjorn)

I think you misunderstood my point to mean that it's always fine since it can affect job performance, I just wanted to point out that it can affect performance for some jobs (as no-one else seemed to have said as much). I'm not endorsing it wholesale or trying to justify mob mentality. Also I guess my brevity with a phone post made me unclear with regards to the third point. I don't expect people to be fully fluent in social justice, extremely few people are. Mainly people should be open to realising there's more they need to know/understand, instead of stubbornly resisting PC culture. Also if your job deals directly with a student body that contains minorities then you should know really know a bit about the issues facing them, otherwise you're just not actually equipped with everything you need to do the job correctly.
-
Worth pointing out that sometimes being prejudiced or ignorant of social justice can make you less fitting for a job especially if you're stubbornly unwilling to change.

Roman Mars is the worst fluff culprit on 99% Invisible. Even aside from ad reads, points about Radiotopia and thanks to sponsors, sometimes an episode of another Radiotopia show is just added at the end of the episode (obviously to boost that show's popularity).

Wearing a dressing gown is weird to me. I just wear jeans and a jacket when I'm at home (which probably makes me weird)

Congrats! That pretty much entirely sums up my sentiments for my first real job.

I don't know if this is specific to Ireland having a smaller market, but sometimes on Youtube you can tell that somebody's just dumped money all over youtube because the same ad comes up more than 50% of the time, which is especially bad when watching a video with multiple ads.

If you want terrible jokes, Edgar Allan Go to the slack to check out our puns based on the name of famous author Edgar Allan Poe.

No I meant the description here:

I know exactly what you mean, it's a huge pain and totally pretentious.
-
I will be asleep at 1am, but would also like an archive. Where are you planning on starting from? If that's decided and not a surprise.

Well yeah I guess "difficult" is as good as it gets, thought it can imply the same thing as a "difficult child". I also tend to assume obscure means little known, I rarely hear it used to mean the meaning or intent was obscured.
-
Is there a good solid word that just means "this work was too complex for me to fully comprehend it" as a non derogative alternative? I tend to just say "I didn't really get/understand X" but I still feel like that partially implies I'm blaming it when really I could be missing a lot of the necessary cues.
-
That's very pretentious of you.
-
I don't have the authority to speak on exact usage but I want to highlight that assumptions are bred by language choice. I'm not trying to say you're to blame. Just that this is why these language notes matter and it's important to think about them so we use terms that don't come with untoward implications and presumptions.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I found Chrono Trigger pretty bland as someone playing it after the fact. It was alright but totally normal RPG fare with a story that was generic apart from when it had nonsensical diversions. -
More specifically, there's no need to have a date there since it'd just need to be updated repeatedly.
