  1. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

Yeah also in particular do people recommend any Dungeon World add on stuff? I don't think I'm particularly in the market since I'm just starting out but I could probably be tricked into an impulse buy.
  2. Idle Thumbs 280: Hamburger Mode

God damn, Hamburger Mode is great wizard jam fuel.
  3. Duolingo - TWO LANGUAGE-O

This sounds like high fantasy nonsense, I love it.
  4. Duolingo - TWO LANGUAGE-O

    He speaks American, not English.
  5. Duolingo - TWO LANGUAGE-O

Apelsin is indeed Swedish for an orange. The colour orange is actually orange, though I might have the spelling wrong. (I'm learning Swedish with duolingo and I also struggle to stay consistent)
  6. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

Someone in my college wrote a thesis about how that episode marked the fall of the Simpsons from its former glory.
  7. Plug your shit

Hey Jay! I wouldn't worry about returning to the forums to plug, the kickstarter looks real rad. Also Dropsy was great Also if you haven't already please tweet this at Jake.
  8. PL4YST4TION 4

Wait, I tell a lie. I know that 4k media was/is/will be produced because of working in the animation industry. Weirdly, it just didn't occur to me that it existed as a concept for regular people who're just watching stuff.
  9. PL4YST4TION 4

I didn't even realise that 4k streaming already existed.
  10. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

Thanks! We haven't played again yet, so this is really good for me to think about in our 2nd session.
  11. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

The artistry of early Simpsons is so good. Not just the backgrounds, but the digital clean approach stiffens up the show too. There's a lot of fun loose motion early on that gets replaced later with smooth but bland computer motions. ...I may have already said this here.
  12. Idle Fiction Jam - Rumours and Hearsay

    Sure, here it is: https://www.idlethumbs.net/idlethumbs/episodes/rumors-hearsay
  13. Idle Fiction Jam - Rumours and Hearsay

I liked that a lot Shaun! The bizarre happenings to Clara were a good vehicle to inject fun stuff through the story. There were some differing points of confusion though. Sometimes I mistakenly connected a piece of information to the previous context. For example, for a little bit I thought Clara was the one who had been viewing the information tracking different people. Then a little after that, I mistakenly thought you were suggesting the Bagpuss plushie was upside down, not the car. Also one other extra minor note, I think B&H is Benson & Hedges, the cigarettes? It was clear from context that they were cigarettes, but shortening it to B&H is kinda confusing for people not already familiar. It doesn't matter enough to make it unreadable, it's just a mild sticking point. This last question might not matter, because I'm not sure if I'm meant to be able to intuit this as a reader. But why was that day any different for Clara? Did they just decide to run one last ditch experiment, or was it related to their testing to determine if humans were viable/worth preserving? Oh, and last last thing. I really liked the creature talking through Siri and having trouble typing. That was a funny way to reveal the horrifying truth. For our new theme we've got Rumours and Hearsay! Please ensure you include both rumours and hearsay to be considered for the cash prize. (there is no cash prize)

Ah looks great, thanks! Shame there's no android app, but as you say it makes more sense to make a bunch in advance to have ready. EDIT: Coincidentally just found this: https://donjon.bin.sh

Does anyone have good links for random name generators, or tips for inventing NPC names? I set up a naming convention for my zombie town that was just Verb Adverb, which made naming really easy. But I don't want to just have weird variations of word template naming conventions for the rest.
  16. ketchup on pizza

Wait you think ketchup is terrible but you love egg vinegar oil?
  17. Idle Thumbs 278: Beef Chief

This sounds worse, in that it's repeatedly drawn attention to but with a complete lack of care or understanding.
  18. Idle Fiction Jam - Rumours and Hearsay

Cool! Looking forward to both your submissions. And thanks twmac

It might depend on how in depth woob wants to go, but what I've seen is mostly that it allows a shared map space, dice roller and character sheets. On the topic of Dungeon World, I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to organise fronts for my brother's game. I originally thought that maybe the zombie town religion would be a front because they'd be a force with multiple machinations running against the player. But maybe it makes more sense to have the weakened interdimensional boundary as a front, because that's a thing different dangers could act on. I think I'm just not quite getting what a front itself should be, though I understand the dangers themselves.
  20. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

PS Also yes I finish work at 6, so a 7pm or later start works for me too. I like, work 5 minutes from home but that gives me time to finish slightly late, eat etc.
  21. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

Dearest woob I cordially accept your invitation of Dungeons and Worlds. As you know Monday - Thursday work for me, Tuesday/Wednesday being of slight preference. Hit me up with your extra deets, I'm down for roll20 and voicin. Sincerely, SBM
  22. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

Yeah, now that all the info is there anyone who wants to GM should decide what kind of game they want. The system, format, time etc. And then either post here or directly ask the people who seem to fit that if they want in.
  23. Idle Fiction Jam - Rumours and Hearsay

I wont post this to Medium for reasons you'll see but I had a bit more fun and put together a little Idle Thumbs episode description. It's actually not edited after the fact, bar some capitals and punctuation. So I like what came of it. @twmac That was a really fun new direction for a story twmac. For a lot of it there was tension because I wasn't sure what was going to be real and what would be magical realism. And it was kind of fun how you dropped in hints of the character's flaws from the start even though they were really only being addressed much later.
  24. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Jenna came to me a dream and told me of a new theme, a theme of curry, curry of any colour! And lo the prophecy came to be true, for curry is our new theme.
