  1. Unity Tutorials

The tornado twins worm game tutorial isn't a bad one to start with: Don't worry that it's an older version of Unity. Also if something's not working for you, try going on to next tutorial, as they often address the bugs of the previous one.
  2. Post Your Game for Playtesting and Feedback!

Hi all, My first game, (PC/Mac) Deadstone, is nearing completion after several thousand hours staring at a screen and pressing buttons. It's a 2D shooter with elements of tower defense, resource management, backed by a fairly hefty character development system (4 stats, 11 derived stats, over 40 perks). Also, the full 50 mission campaign is playable in local co-op. I haven't got a playable demo yet (maybe around 2 weeks), but if anyone is interested, I'll put up a link when it's ready. There are two trailers though, if you'd like to have a look.
  3. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hi all, Liked the podcasts, and the community here seems friendly, so I thought I'd sign up. I'm 32, from Ireland, and have been playing games since the spectrum. Main hobbies are reading and gaming, and especially like games which combine multiple genres, like Bioshock and Spellforce. Over the past few years, I've been learning how to program, and have been working on a game for the last 17 months. It's been a hell of a journey, but I'm nearly there : ) Anyway, thats all for me.
  4. HP Lovecraft

Like a good few of his stories: The Shadow Over Innsmouth, The Call of Cthulu, Colour out of Space, Mountains of Madness, The Horror at Red Hook, The Dunwich Horror, but he can be fairly hit and miss. The racism in his stories is undeniable, Rats in The Walls and the Horror at Red Hook stand out as being among the worst offenders. Good documentary here, incase any of you are interested:
  5. Is the an extensive "History of inventions" book out there?

There's a book called "Events that Changed the World" by Time Warner, although it's only partly dedicated to inventions, it also covers major cultural and political events. It's chronogical and gives a quick summary of each event (1-2 pages). The time span is longer than you requested though, as it pretty much starts from the early days of civilisation.
