  1. Fantasy Life (3DS)

Oh man, I've never heard of this game before, but Level 5 is possibly my favorite developer (Rogue Galaxy & Dark Cloud 2 are some of the most underrated games ever made IMHO.) Might have to finally get a 3DS, this sounds fantastic.
  2. Idle Thumbs 169: On Blade

GEOFFREY, OF THE HOUSE GIRAFFEON! Had to get that out there. I'm so upset nobody made that play on words. Also, just read the Transistor review. I can't remember the last time someone made me do a complete 180 on my opinion on anything. Wonderfully written, thanks for making me hate a game I loved, ya' jerk!
  3. Idle Thumbs 168: I Like the Hair

We need more Dota Today; I can tell Sean's bursting at the seams. I 100% agree with the point about giving the fans a good show. I'm surprised there doesn't seem to be a lot of blowback towards VG. Plenty of people are complaining about the grand finals being bad, but nobody seems to be upset with VG themselves, who I think acted pretty unprofessionally. I understand an early GG in your first couple games if your team is just getting steamrolled and continuing to play will only further destroy the team's morale, but the last game should absolutely be played until the base is broken. I think they owe it to their fans and to the entire arena of people watching to see the last game through to the end, even if it's utterly hopeless.
  4. New people: Read this, say hi.

First time poster. Hey y'all. Heard about Thumbs through listening to the Dota Today podcast, which I found by desperately trying to find a decent Dota podcast on iTunes. I just wanted to say how amazed I was to encounter a sect of gaming culture that's socially-conscious, feminist, and forward-thinking. As a liberally-minded gamer, I've generally felt out-of-place in a culture that makes rape jokes on a regular basis, and your podcasts are an enormous breath of fresh air. I have a lot of respect and admiration for you people, both in your cultural awareness and in your ability to articulate the most subtle details about game design in the most convoluted yet totally understandable ways (the deconstruction of Destiny/MMO's in the latest episode was sheer brilliance). Anyways, thanks for the brilliant podcasts. Ben
