  1. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

I went to my local target today and they only had the amiibos that are available everywhere (standard mario, peach, pikachu, etc.) I did look though.
  2. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

I'M WEAK AND I DID IT. I BOUGHT ONE. I LOVE YOU JIGGLYPUFF.
  3. Life

Agreed, there are so many random times that I need to filter out odd rows of a spreadsheet or something and use modulus to do that.
  4. Life

Yeah, I would assume it's to test knowledge of useful, but perhaps fairly uncommon operators/tools like modulus or string concatenation (depending on your specific solution. The one I wrote in python used both.) It also makes you actually think about the structure of your if/else if/else statements. You don't want to miss out on things that are multiples of 15, so if you're doing if/else if/else statements you want to put that first for example. (I just did 3 if statements, which I doubt is the most efficient way to do it, but it was how I was able to think through the problem.) Plus it requires you to use a for/while loop, so it kind of hits all the big concepts of pretty much any programming language.
  5. Meow.

He's exclusively an indoor cat because he's always been an indoor cat, and I have far too nervous a disposition to have an outdoor cat. He isn't usually that bad, he does pretty reliably wake me up at 4, but usually doesn't keep me awake for that long. By 5:15 or so he was just walking around crying. He's also super obsessed with chewing on weird textures, so he has been slowly shredding the bottom of our box spring to chew on the fur like fabric. I have no idea how to stop that one other than just getting rid of the box spring? We're going to buy a new mattress this summer when we move anyway, but it's so weird and I'm afraid he's going to make himself sick doing it.
  6. Meow.

My cat woke me up at 4am this morning by doing this in real life, and kept me awake for about an hour and a half by trying to pull things off the bedroom bookshelves, batting at the window blinds, knocking over things in our bedroom closet, and making a ton of noise in the bathroom that's connected to our bedroom, so what I'm trying to say, is does anyone want a slightly used 10 year old fixed tom cat who weighs about 20 pounds and loves to shred paper & cardboard? (I can't lock him out of the bedroom because he needs to get into the bathroom to use the litter box & even if I did lock him out of a room, we have carpet that he will destroy and I'd like to get some portion of our apartment deposit back.)
  7. !!!!! I haven't ever really been drawn into giant bomb, but I really and truly love Austin's internet presence and am so excited about this. His writing on Gone Home & Animal Crossing are things I think about all the time.
  8. Life

I just walk down the coffee aisle of the grocery store and take in the smells, and then never ever drink it because I hate bitter drinks, and if I wanted to just drink something full of cream/sugar & get caffeine I'd just drink a soda. (I do very much like tea though, specifically black tea with mint. I drink that with no cream no sugar.)
  9. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Yeah that's 100% still present in the later games. It's also the entire pet battling minigame within World of Warcraft (which I also love.)
  10. Want to date a pug? Now you can with "Hot Date"

Doris is completely unimpressed with me.
  11. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

With the change of how experience share works starting in Pokemon X/Y, it's much easier to actually have a balanced team. If the collecting/breeding/secret depth isn't engaging to you, I don't think Pokemon is a very interesting game. The badge earning is the least interesting part of Pokemon to me. tegan is way more knowledegable and into Pokemon than me, but you only pour 200+ hours into a game if you find more than just the main 'campaign' interesting.
  12. Idle Thumbs 212: DMCA Dad

I was almost 2 when my mom had my younger sister. When they brought her home I asked if they could "take her back to the hospital store and get a brother."
  13. Sports

So the Bulls fired Thibs: https://twitter.com/mcten/status/603968165329182720 They also posted the pettiest passive aggressive midwestern press release ever: http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/tomthibodeau528 I'm from Illinois originally, and was a tiny baby child during the bulls era, but the bulk of my understanding of MJ comes from Space Jam. I hold no affections for the Bulls as Chicago sports in general aren't my thang. (Chalk it up to a lifetime of "I'm from Illinois" being responded to by "oh, Chicago?" No. If I was from Chicago (or any suburb within 45 minutes of Chicago), I would say I was from Chicago.) I have way more affection for the charlotte hornets puffy starter jackets that all my classmates wore.
  14. Meow.

You might assume he hates me, and you probably aren't wrong.
  15. Meow.

This thread is the best thread.
  16. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

I still keep thinking about Jigglypuff, and wondering how feasible it is to go on Friday.
  17. The threat of Big Dog

Deep down, I always knew. He's sure to survive the rise of the robots, and outlast me.
  18. The threat of Big Dog

Welp, it was nice knowing you all. Who ever is last standing, please tell my cat I loved him.
  19. I Had A Random Thought...

My older brother would eat a raw potato before bed each night like it was an apple. ou cannot rationalize with the irrational. I ate a slice of cheese pizza 4 days a week for lunch for 4 years of high school because I really like cheese pizza. My mother is also a picky eater, just when it comes to meat though. She doesn't like pork so we almost never ate pork of any kind growing up, she doesn't like hamburger if it's in patty/loaf form so we almost never had meatloaf, and if my dad was making hamburgers he'd also make hot dogs/something else for her, especially if we were grilling out. Every Friday night we would go out as a family to eat, and it might just be fast food, or it might be a sit down place, but every other meal of the week we would eat something homemade. We ate a fairly meat heavy diet because it's the only things that they could coax myself and my sister into eating. As an adult I make an active effort to try new things, and some of these things I feel vindicated in not liking afterward, and others I just silently continue to eat in hopes that no one remembers that I used to hate that thing. I'm far more open to trying new and different preparations of meat than vegetables, I've found. If you cook something so that the vegetables aren't mushy and cover them in a sauce, I can eat it if I don't think about it too hard. For Gormongous, I highly recommend wheat beers as rarely bitter options. They're my jam, as I hate bitter & spicy things as well. German wheat beers, belgian whites, witbiers, hefeweizens, all make me go all heart eye emoji.

;/ (that's what my face looks like when I wink.)
  21. I Had A Random Thought...

This is so bizarre to me, because I'm the pinnacle of picky eaters, but I have never in my adult life vetoed a restaurant due to it. No matter where I go I can find SOMETHING I can eat and will like. I also only talk about how I don't eat vegetables unless someone specifically asks me about it. My parents never made separate meals for me & my younger sister, but they would make sides that we didn't have to eat because they wanted to have it (most often canned vegetables) When I was a little baby child I HATED green peppers because they made everything else taste like green peppers and the taste was so strong to me, so I totally buy that kids taste things more intensely.

  23. True Pigeon Love: Hatoful Boyfriend

I don't know how many other people played/are interested in talking about this, but I bought Hatoful Boyfriend on a Humble sale a week or two ago, and I honestly can't stop thinking about how weird and dark this game got. My first introduction to this game was via an episode of the youtube show (mini-series? there are only about 8 episode) called Metadating These 3 guys went to USC together as grad students and like to talk about story telling in video games. If you want to play Hatoful unspoiled, I would play it before watching their video. This was also the first introduction they had to Visual Novel Dating Sims, so they're very confused by the tropes/jokes that are made in Hatoful Boyfriend.
  24. Meow.

THEY'RE ALL SO CUTE. I LOVE CATS YOU GUYS.
  25. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

I played through the whole thing this weekend. I had previously played act 1 by itself, but didn't have my save game, so I didn't mind going back and playing it again. I got stuck three times. I thought it was good overall though. I liked the style of puzzle from Act 1 better than Act 2, I thought the story was only okay. I thought the hexipals were very cute, and the marching band that her followers make was the best.
