I think if you did a poll of everyone, Lansbury might be everyone's favorite.

For sure! We use our crock pot probably 3-4 times a month during the winter, less so in the summer, as it makes the kitchen warm for most the day (still probably once a month though). Here's some highlights of what we like to make: BBQ pork shoulder, pot roast, carnitas, & stew. We've made chicken breasts and lamb shanks in it before as well. It's super versatile and I like it as something you can prepare the night before, put in the fridge and then put it in and turn it on the next morning and by the time you come home, dinner is ready for you already.

You looking for like a crock pot? You have some flexibility when it comes to features, like timers or locking lids, but I think on a fundamental level they all cook generally the same? (ceramic dish heated on all sides by electric heating elements.) maybe I'm totally wrong. We have a very basic one that has warm, low, high and off and that's it. It can be nice to have the locking lid if you anticipate doing potluck style stuff where you cook it at home and share it.
  5. It will forever be this can't be yogurt in my heart. (I prefer to approach it less from a I can't believe it's not butter route and more, 'eww, what is this? it can't be yogurt.')

I'll probably make something with fresh green beans as I don't like any other beans except jellybeans.

Everything I've read is that the crepes come out rubbery/gummy if you don't let the batter rest.

Vasari, I think they were trying to be honest about how conversations in the world actually work, and if something more interesting comes up, you will switch to it and drop the thing before. This runs counter to how most games treat dialogue (as something you can consume all of without any naturalistic flow) I read this really great piece about Oxenfree & loss - http://www.polygon.com/2016/1/26/10819392/oxenfree-death I liked this post a lot and thought it talked thoughtfully about loss in a way that I had been struggling to put words to.
  10. The Witness by Jonathan Blow

I think it's totally fair to say that Justin has concerns that this game will potentially push some people who may like it if they stuck it out into looking up a guide. Jonathan Blow may think his audience should be better than that, but that's not in line with the world we live in, and he can be idealistic as he wants, but that doesn't change that people don't have the patience for that stuff, especially when there are always other games to be playing instead that don't punish their players, or leave them feeling lost. There are always going to be Dark Souls fanatics because they have the patience to learn the game's combat mechanics and enemy tells, but there are going to be a ton of other people that bounce off of that, and is lack of player retention a valid criticism in any game? I think it is. Not every game has to be for every person, and I think games are better when there are games that aren't for everyone. That doesn't mean that "I think this game's failing is its inability to anticipate player feelings/desires" (especially given that Justin's overall review is positive and the game got a very good score) isn't a totally reasonable argument.
  11. "Cars sucks." - A Pixar Thread

I think that's a totally legitimate read on the situation, given that you do see inside one of her classmates' heads and he seemed to have all boys in his head, and girls usually go through puberty before boys, meaning that he is likely also prepubescent. (Although now that I think about it, some of his emotions didn't talk, which I guess could mean that he has girls that just like to skateboard? That would have been neat too.) If I had to be honest, I'm guessing they didn't think through the implications of what the mixed party meant, and were instead worried that a voice cast of all women wouldn't be marketable.
  12. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

I made crepes & my SO made a pork roast & asparagus and it turned out very well. I was very nervous about the crepes, as I'd never made them before & they're fairly known for being something with a learning curve but they turned out fantastic. I used Alton Brown's recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/crepes-recipe.html#! & used the small ~8 in non stick pan we have. We have a gas range which made altering the temperature much easier than our old electric range which I appreciated a lot. Pictures in the spoilers below. It was all very very good and I'm very happy with how it turned out. Since I'd never made crepes before I was surprised at how quickly I took to it. Maybe I'm just a natural. I got lucky that the ladle I had was the perfect amount of batter for the pan I was using so it took almost no experimentation. The springy texture of the crepes really complimented the pork. I made the batter yesterday and let it refrigerate for about 30 hours, and really liked the way the crepes turned out, so I would probably refrigerate them again the next time I make them.

I haven't had any problems on 10. I don't play anything too demanding though, so who knows.
  14. General Video Game Deals Thread

I don't think it's necessary, especially if you think you aren't interested in the genre in general. I think it stands on its own enough that you won't be totally baffled by it without any other knowledge.

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/hatofulboyfriend_storefront Hatoful boyfriend is on sale for $1.49 and if you don't already own this game, please get it. It's one of my favorite games ever. It probably doesn't work as well if you're not at least a little familiar with romance based visual novels, as it's working to subvert and parody known tropes, but it's so so so good. It has a really great skipping mechanic for text you've already read, making it easy to do multiple playthroughs (which I highly recommend, as you unlock a totally bonkers amazing ending after you unlock the normal endings.) I would recommend doing your first playthrough honestly picking which birdie you like best, and then from there playing out as many other scenarios as you can. Don't be afraid to use multiple save slots at branching points so you don't have to replay everything. There are plenty of guides out there too that don't have spoilers but tell you which choices to make to see the endings you've missed.

If you can put someone under the computer worker umbrella, employers aren't required to compensate for overtime hours if you're on a salary. If you get paid hourly, you still get paid for the hours you work, but you do not get time and a half.

Starting with the Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer you can buy a NN3DS in a bundle, but not on it's own. There will be a Pokémon one in February.
  22. Oxenfree

So I finished this this weekend. Some quick thoughts 1. To those of wondering about duration - my playthrough took about 4 hours. It could take longer if you explore more or a little shorter if you really zoom in on the critical path spoilers from here on out 5. Loved the sound design & music. Loved the radio as a mechanic as well. Well worth the 100% sticker price. I had no technical problems, I know some other people have had issues, but I can't speak to that.

Vainamoinen, it is on humble bundle! It gives you a steam key, but at least you're giving the retailer cut to not steam.
