  1. Woah! Can't believe I missed that, although I did register something jarring about the cut. So much weird to speculate on!
  2. Hmmm - I hope you're right! I had just taken this whole bit as a slightly misinformed bit of 'weed humour', but now that I read through it again it seems a bit too specific in content, and a bit too unsophisticated as a gag. I don't think I've ever had another series make me so concerned about the intention behind its construction, but then TP is unusual in how exacting the little clues can be, and in the engagement of its audience with those clues. I really hope Tammy's treatment ends up with a decent narrative payoff, for example. It's funny - I really like a lot of Lynch's work, but I do not think he is beyond reproach, so there is still some element of tension about how some of that more 'problematic' stuff progresses (not so much because I am likely to be personally offended as because it simultaneously reveals a narrative mechanism which is being used, and reveals that mechanism to have its own ugly assumptions, and that combination never fails to snap me out of disbelief-suspension). This, in combination with what I have read about his unusual methods of creation leave me mostly certain that I will like (or at least appreciate) his work, but with enough doubt to leave a soupcon of tension... It is kind of like an amplification of the way his work makes me feel anyway, but taken into the field of critiquing the work too.
  3. Just saw a screengrab, the shadowy figure in the background at the Police Station is definitely the tar hobo from the prison cell in Episode 2.
  4. I loved the character moment between Gordon & Albert where Gordon hopefully asks if Albert will still come with him to meet Diane. Seems odd that Briggs might not have aged from having been in the White Lodge, but Goodcoop did while he was in the Black Lodge/Waiting Room, but then maybe the rules are different? Could the figure in the background of the Buckhorn Police Station have been the tar-hobo? I couldn't really make out much detail.

@TheLastBaron - oh man! I was so into Dr Katz in the 90s... I love that the format of a comedian telling jokes to someone who (mostly) stays in character as a therapist is the ultimate absence of a laugh track. Also the relationship between Dr Katz and Ben has some real depth after they've been making the show for a while.
  6. Been getting into this 'un recently. I put in a few hours with Hearthstone, but I hate to spend money on these things in a 'Software as a Service' way (while I generally don't mind just paying an up-front cost), and I lost interest before I had enough of a decent card collection to really make a fun deck. Duelyst seems to be a bit more generous, but I'm only now nearing rank 20, so we'll see how I manage out in the cold, real world. (For those who haven't played, in 'Bronze League', which is rank 30 - 20, you don't lose ranks for losing matches, so if you can at least manage the occasional win you'll get to 'Silver League' with sufficient stubborness). Folks looking for friendly matches, by all means look me up, am 'BonusWavePilot' there also.

I am another of those who cannot tolerate any mistakes in a level. I will admit that this lead to me screenshotting my progress once after a finger slip such as you describe though...
  8. Infinite Jest

I didn't find the ebook implementation to be too bad, as Nappi says. An alternative would be to just put the dead tree version in a different dust jacket to ward off undergraduate banter...

Interesting the spread of opinions on Nu Who... Personally, I quite liked the last few of this season (and the finale), but thought season 8 was kind of weak for the most part, though I do like the casting of Capaldi. While I'm on the subject - a random thought on the 50th Anniversary episode: I liked how John Hurt's "War Doctor" as the bridge between old & new Who voiced some of the curmudgeonly complaints one might expect from fans of the classic series who are annoyed by some of the new stuff... "Timey Wimey?" and "They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do, assemble a cabinet at them?" and so forth... (Although that last was somewhat ruined by having them straight up use their screwdrivers as weapons when they travel into the warzone/painting towards the end of the episode.)
  10. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hey folks. Another n00b here who has been on board with the podcast for a good few years, but hadn't joined the forum until now. The paintings organised from people here gave me the impression it might be an interesting place to hang out, and a bit of a poke around at posts has confirmed that, so expect me to be lurking around the place from here on out. I'm from down in Australia-land, amonst the vegemite trees and drop-bears. I code for a living, and am trying (veeeery slowly) to get a couple of game projects far along enough to actually play.
