This sounds great! Like a Thumbs-themed expansion for Betrayal at House on the Hill.

I've put together a basic list of assets and mechanics. Having this in advance before I've even opened gamemaker is a big relief! The team has also grown: @Valorian Endymion and @Arthur are on board to create the art. SuperBriefly.pdf

Idle Thumbs 289: Old Fruit and Dirty Water
Vasari replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Gamemaker Studio 2 is super cool, but unfortunately since it's in closed beta right now you can't export standalone executables from it. It's a shame because I was really hoping to build my Wizard Jam game in it, and it has so many awesome improvements over GMS 1.4. -
Speaking of State Machines, if you're using Gamemaker then I highly recommend downloading this example: https://www.reddit.com/r/gamemaker/comments/353aq6/tutorialexample_finite_state_machines_the_most/

I haven't really looked into this myself, but people are saying positive things. Maybe she'd be into this? http://www.masquerada.com/

There's definitely a need for music! I'm sure you can find a group once more people have posted their game threads.

I am so happy that people are talking about Mini Metro again. I played it in early access and I started to go slightly insane recommending it to everyone. Chris mentioned the strategy of pausing and deleting every track throughout the game, and I do the same thing and absolutely hate it. I feel like it ruins the flow entirely. I actually lose most games on purpose because I realise that I can wipe everything and place new tracks, but it's not very fun and I'd rather just stop playing. Next time I play I'm going to take on Nick's suggestion of playing on hardcore mode where you can't remove tracks, that sounds like the best way to play it. Oh, and you can delete an entire track at once. If you click the coloured circle at the bottom of the screen it'll give you an X button you can press to remove that entire track.

I'd be happy to do WotM anytime. I've already done it this week but I have a ton of keys to use.

Idle Thumbs 285: Candor, Expertise, and Candor
Vasari replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Hi! I'm the guy who's really into Kentucky Route Zero! The premise of The Entertainment is that you are playing a character with no dialogue in a play. The play is actually two plays combined together: "A Reckoning" is the one happening in front of you, which is the Steinbeck-style story set in a bar where patrons are discussing their various debts, including those to the bartender. "A Bar-fly" the one-man play that you perform, which is a wordless performance of a person sitting in a bar who realises he has no money to pay for his drink. To bring it back to your point about not being the protagonist, The Entertainment is cool because it manages to make your story matter even in the context of a bigger, more important story happening around you, and the two narratives are thematically linked. I think it also works because KRZ isn't an action game. To use an example, Oblivion has you doing all the work to save Cyrodiil, but emperor's son is the one who gets all the credit for saving the world. You're still the protagonist because you're the one who engaged with the game mechanics and killed all the demons, and there's a long history of fiction where the central character isn't the most powerful or notable. And you probably couldn't have a game like Oblivion where the emperor was better at killing demons than you, because then you should just be playing as him. -
I'll ask, but I suspect not. He's pretty busy right now, he probably won't have a free weekend for a while.

Idle Thumbs 284: Live From The Past
Vasari replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I was also really confused by the time travel in this episode! At one point I found myself wondering "Wait, I know Chris is recording this in the past because he's in Japan right now, but why is Spaff recording it in the past when he's in SF and can still go to the studio?" -
I can do saturday or sunday, but if it's sunday I won't be able to stay as long since I'll have work on monday.

Wrath of the Machine was really awesome. I can't wait to go back next week and finish off Aksis! It was so much fun to figure all that stuff out, I feel like we did a really good job of putting it together. I'm working on gearing up now so I'll be a bit less hobbled by my level next time. You won't find much has changed in the old content, except that the quest system points you towards your next mission and gives you some more rewards along the way. The real difference comes when you get to the expansion content and see how their mission design and storytelling improved. Feel free to jump into strikes or crucible matches if the mood strikes you (lower level enemies are no different from enemies at the same level as you), but you should just keep going through the story missions as they unlock. If you want to get to the endgame stuff there are areas that won't be available unless you've done the relevant story missions.

Yup, sorry, my friend is out! Apparently he has a stag do that night. Ask your Destiny friends if they want to give it a shot.
-
Sure, I can do anytime after 12. 4PM works great. Unfortunately my friend has scheduled badly so he's not available tomorrow, so we still have an open space.

Darkest Dungeon sort of works like that. When a character runs out of health they're at "Death's Door", and any attack from there on has a chance to kill them. They can be healed to bring them out of that state. I actually really like the idea of making probabalistic, it's definitely something that hasn't been explored enough.

This week in particular, I'm busy during the day on sunday, so I'm afraid I can only do saturday.

So for the raid this weekend, is everyone available on saturday? Early afternoon GMT might be the best time to start.
