  1. Destiny

Noon eastern is 5PM here, that works great for me.
  2. Destiny

I'm up for a raid on sunday, depending on the time since I'm in the UK.
  3. Man, Westworld started off so interesting! It only lasted about 4 episodes before it took a nosedive. I think the problem I had was that the show wasn't about the thing I thought it was about. In the first episode there's a bit where Ford says "Humans can do anything, we've cured every disease etc., this is the best we're going to get" and I thought that was a brilliant premise, because the best that humanity can apparently do in this world is a rape/murder theme park. I thought there was going to be more of a focus on how the world came to accept this awful place and how humanity had build greater and greater technology while learning absolutely nothing from it. Instead they went down the whole "are the robots just like real people" road, which is the most heavily explored area of robot-based science fiction, and they didn't bring anything new to it. Combined with how long they spent on staggeringly predictable plot twists and mysteries like the Maze, it all felt like a wasted opportunity (barring a glimmer of interesting ideas in the last episode). But most of all, not only did never actually addressed the rape/murder issue at all, they seemed to expect that viewers would accept that the human characters can sexually assault hosts and still be good people, which is completely at odds with the part of the story that wants to convince us that the hosts are conscious. On a meta level, it also felt like they wanted to make another rape and murder HBO show to carry the torch now that Game of Thrones is almost over (especially considering how characters were killed off so frequently, and often for basically no reason).
  4. Pen and Paper and Roll20.net Games

I'm definitely interested in this, I've been wanting to get back into tabletop RP for ages.
  5. The tablet looks a bit vacuum packed, I hope it survived the trip! Apologies for the sparse package, I realised far too late that there are restrictions on sending things like alcohol to Canada.
  6. Idle Streaming Community: Twitchy, Tasty

I've started streaming too! I've got a camera ordered but for now it's just with my voice. I'll probably play some Hitman or Darkest Dungeon in about 15 minutes. https://www.twitch.tv/wracketeer
  7. Destiny

The level 40 upgrade will get you to the "good" parts of the game quickly, but if you want to see it all you should play as normal. It's not as bad as when the game first launched since they've rolled the DLC missions into the levelling experience, but if you ever get bored you should skip ahead to the Taken King missions, which are a noticeable improvement. Personally I think the old content is still fine, and it's a good opportunity to learn how the game works before you get into the endgame.
  8. You have NO IDEA how excited I was when I picked up this package and discovered it was from @dibs! Thank you so much!
  9. I don't know if this is the effect Chris got hooked on but the really fun thing to do in Catacombs of Solaris is
  10. [RELEASE] Uwaki Hittoman

I'm not able to click on anything, and the character portraits and dialogue box are still on screen.
  11. [RELEASE] Uwaki Hittoman

  12. [RELEASE] Uwaki Hittoman

I think I've hit a bug near the beginning. I used the jukebox then poisoned the coffee, then when the manager drinks it I can't advance the dialogue any further and get stuck.
  13. [Released] A Good One

This really put me in the Christmas spirit It has a great atmosphere and the skiing is really fun. I think I hit a bug with the ice: When you go onto it your controls are locked; I was hunkered down at the time so I eventually lost momentum and came to a stop.
  14. [Dev Log] Historical Beef

I just want you to know that I laughed out loud at the "yekrut dezalg" joke.
  15. Super Briefly is finished! A last-minute cold kept me bedridden all weekend, but I managed to crawl to my desk and finish the game. https://vasari.itch.io/super-briefly I didn't get everything I wanted to done, but I'm a week past the end of the jam now so I though it would be better to polish everything up and release it instead of adding more features. Original post below: ---------------------------------- Hi everyone! My game this time isn't based on an episode title, it's based on this discussion from Idle Thumbs 182: As far as I know, Danielle hasn't made this yet, so it falls to me. In Super Briefly, the good people of the city are beset by numerous simultaneous crimes, and only one man can stop them - Super Briefly! Each level will have a collection of different crimes that are all about to be committed, and the player will have to quickly stop each one from happening by hitting them in the perfect order. In the last jam I was really disorganised and made most of the game up as I went along, which didn't give the rest of the team much time to make assets. This time I want to plan everything in advance, so I'm writing up a short design doc that I'll have uploaded before the jam starts. I'm hoping to find some cool team members for the following roles: - 2D art - Music/Audio
  16. [FINALLY RELEASED] Super Briefly!

Super Briefly is finished! You can play it right now! https://vasari.itch.io/super-briefly I am very sick so I'm going to go back to bed now.
  17. [FINALLY RELEASED] Super Briefly!

So Super Briefly isn't done yet. Life became incredibly hectic over the past few weeks and I wasn't able to work on the game nearly as much as I wanted to. But I don't want to abandon the project after all the hard work everyone put in, so I'm going to continue working on it and hopefully have it uploaded by Friday. But until then, here's a playable build! This shows some of the basic gameplay: use the arrow keys to turn left and right. To beat the level, you need to arrest the vandal and the robber, return the loot to the bank, and rescue the cat from the tree. You'll notice there's no audio in this build. Unfortunately Lompeboy found a job partway through the jam (Which actually isn't unfortunate at all) so he didn't have time to work on the audio. If anyone is willing to step in to provide music/SFX I'd be extremely grateful! Super Briefly.exe
  18. I'm surprised to hear Nick was so down on Ornstein and Smough/Abbott and Costello/Pikachu and Snorlax! I assume his horrible experience clouded his enjoyment because they're one of the coolest fights in the game and some of the coolest looking bosses in the game. http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/darksouls/images/0/08/Ornstein_Concept_Art.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20131219120729 http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/darksouls/images/8/80/Smough_Concept.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130426213331 Their soundtrack is also easily the best boss music in that whole game. They're definitely a hard fight though. I have no shame in admitting I summoned Solaire for that fight. Speaking of which, does Nick know that there are NPCs who can be summoned for some boss fights the same way that you summon players?
  19. Excellent timing. https://clips.twitch.tv/idlethumbs/ClearCrowPazPazowitz
  20. [RELEASE] Dead Letters

Oh man, I feel your pain. Key Jamming is my weird pet peeve that nobody else understands. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollover_(key)#Key_jamming_and_ghosting
  21. [FINALLY RELEASED] Super Briefly!

I haven't had much to say about my work yet, since I'm mostly working on boring logic for win/loss conditions, but I wanted to show off some of Valorian's awesome background art: And Arthur's rendition of the titular Super Briefly: And last but not least, @Lompeboy is working on audio! (Spoilers, it sounds great!)
  22. [Released] Explode Mode (Slight Return)

Looks awesome! It reminds me of ZeroFiftyOne's Explode Mode from the previous jam, which also started life as a pretty title screen. Something about the name "Explode Mode" makes people want to create cool graphical effects.
  23. There are plenty of people using gamemaker in the jam, if you run into any trouble someone in slack can definitely help you out.
  24. As soon as I read your spoiler I had to go to the archive and check who he hit.
