    http://www.swarm-troopers.com/

Swarm Troopers explains why small military drones will be cheap and plentiful, and how researchers made a military-grade drone for less than $2,000 in a basic workshop using smartphone components and 3D printing. With modern combat aircraft costing upwards of $100,000,000, the military will face a choice between a single manned plane or a swarm of fifty thousand drones. Except that off-the-shelf electronics are getting more powerful and cheaper, so small drones will continue to fall in price while getting ever more capable.

  2. Here's the chat log of a funny convo:

    .:+applecider:. I'm skeptical of this
.:+applecider:. but it would be cool
.:+njoos:. The picture of that switch is very disconcerting
    .:+njoos:. but otherwise
    .:+njoos:. nice
.:+applecider:. but I can't imagine many men jumping at the idea
    »» n1njasquirrel gives voice to n1njasquirrel
.:+superbaesedman:. Yeah I feel like the biggest issue in male contraception is actually getting men to give a shit
    .:+njoos:. Why not?
.:+applecider:. not giving a shit but also being weirded out by having that stuff implanted
.:+Jutranjo:. i would not want hydraulics installed under my skin
.:+Jutranjo:. this isn't the cyber future i was promised
.:+applecider:. otoh it seems no worse than an IUD
.:+superbaesedman:. "That's really weird baby, couldn't you just put a plastic coil in your junk instead?"
.:+applecider:. and women get those all the time
    »» n1njasquirrel removes voice from n1njasquirrel
    .:+twig:. what is sex
.:+applecider:. personally I think IUDs are fucking terrible but that's me
.:+superbaesedman:. Yeah uh, a friend of mine had a terrible experience
    .:+superbaesedman:. they kinda are.
.:+njoos:. I dont know what IUD is, but I'd consider getting one of those implants
.:+applecider:. otoh there's been developments in hormonal BC for men but guess what, lack of funding because everyone seems to not be in a super hurry to make men take birth control
.:+lansbury:. my sister was in pain and bleeding for months and had to have hers taken out
.:+applecider:. an IUD is an intrauterine device
.:+superbaesedman:. Yeah that was my friend's terrible experience
.:+superbaesedman:. It was lodged somewhere it shouldn't have been.
.:+applecider:. it's a tiny T shaped looking thing that is made from metal or plastic and basically agitates the lining of the uterus in order to prevent a fertilized embryo from attaching
.:+njoos:. ah, well many women cant use pills
»» reyturner removes voice from reyturner
    .:+applecider:. oh, I know
.:+njoos:. but I can imagine all men could use this
.:+applecider:. I think having as many options as possible for everyone is a great idea in general
.:+superbaesedman:. Also pills have side effects and are damn expensive.
.:+undermind9:. the male oral contraceptive is actually the most promising (despite lack of funding) because its already a known drug ( i think heart related)
.:+undermind9:. there is an silicone injection that is being developed but that's probably 8yrs away from being even practical.  its a 10yr expiration that disolves
»» reyturner gives voice to reyturner
.:+applecider:. but I like the idea of pushing for more responsibility on the part of either partner
.:+superbaesedman:. Is that injection the RISUG thing?
.:+reyturner:. Also aren't vasectomy already reversible?
.:+applecider:. they are...up until a certain point but you should not use it as contraception
»» reyturner removes voice from reyturner
.:+codicier:. the reversal is not cheap and not 100% reliable from what i understand
.:+applecider:. it's way easier to stop taking birth control or a switch or to remove a device, etc
.:+twig:. i avoid all of these problems by never having sex
.:+lansbury:. I'm both encouraged and dismayed by developments in male contraceptive devices that aren't condoms, from a public health perspective
»» reyturner gives voice to reyturner
    .:+twig:. easiest solution right
.:+applecider:. well it is the most foolproof form of birth control
    .:+applecider:. ABSTINENCE
.:+twig:. like any proper christian boy
.:+lansbury:. twig is the only person who took American public school sex ed to heart
    .:+lansbury:. bravo
.:+twig:. sex is a sin and that's why i'm the most holy
.:+lansbury:. you are the only one
    .:+twig:. hahaha
.:+codicier:. Sorry to to throw or another tech question in the middle of this debate but what's the best way to move a big chunk of data? To a new hard drive just c&p or is there something more efficient
    .:+twig:. copy and paste
.:+reyturner:. That switch seems like a liability nightmare. I can't remember how many times I've come home at night and realized I've left the bedroom light on
    .:+njoos:. robocopy
.:+twig:. although if it's got a million subfolders
.:+horza:. copy paste or maybe one of those cloning stations
.:+twig:. there might be a better solution worth pursuing
.:+superbaesedman:. I would assume the switch is more complex than just a light switch, there must be some failsafe
.:+twig:. cause subfolders make copy pastes take way longer than just a giant file would
.:+twig:. preserving that file structure is intense usually
.:+superbaesedman:. Or does it just toggle every time you press on your belly button?
    .:+twig:. hahahaha
    .:+njoos:. Use robocopy
.:+applecider:. I'm just perplexed at how a switch under your skin works
    .:+njoos:. You can resume
    .:+njoos:. and shit
    .:+njoos:. if it fails
.:+sucks2bme:. i think the article says to turn it on again there is a 2 switch process
.:+applecider:. like is it enough that you can tell it's on/off and if so, can your partner check
.:+applecider:. because I can imagine being like "oh yeah baby I totally have that switch and it's totally ON right now"
.:+njoos:. I would install a speaker too, inside my nipples
.:+lansbury:. "that switch is as turned on as me"
    .:+njoos:. that say SPERM ON
.:+njoos:. when I turn it on
.:+Jutranjo:. putting a switch beneath your skin isn't a bit too intrusive?
    .:+twig:. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
.:+applecider:. in order to turn the sperm off you have two keyholders and they both have to turn the keys to the right at the same time

    That's the meat filling.

I fried some onions and garlic on olive oil till they started getting glassy/brown.

Added minced meat (mixed beef and pork), chopped carrots as well as salt and pepper and mixed till it started browning/drying up.

Then I added store bought pelati (peeled tomato sauce), rinsing out the bottle with a little hot water, plus basil and thyme.

I covered that pan and let it cook for around 30ish minutes, maybe 40?

That's around 650g of meat, 3 mid sized carrots, 3 small onions, 3 cloves of garlic, around 400 mL of pelati

The picture's the bechamel sauce. Melted around 150 g of butter, added flour and kept mixing to avoid clumps, then added around 0.5L of milk (out of the fridge) as well as salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Constructing it, I used store bought dough leaves. I buttered the bottom of a metal baking pan, added sauce, added a layer of dough, meat filling, sauce, dough, meat sauce, etc. At the top I put all the leftover meat and most (30%) of all the sauce, making sure I covered the sides so they don't dry up.

Left cooking for ~35 minutes at 220 C here's about 1/3 that was left over.

I liked the taste, it didn't come out damp and it also held itself together.

  4. Good titles:

    Time Gentlemen, Please!

    Defence of the Ancients :P

  5. If I may start a tangent, I am always surprised by just how much people care about the DRM-free part. We can all get behind hating SecuROM and UPlay, but most "DRM" AAA titles are things I buy on Steam, can play offline, and never have to so much as enter an activation key. What are those titles doing so wrong that "DRM-free" is a major talking point?

I think Vainamoinen is the only person on the forums that refuses to install Steam.

  6. Yeah, when you're starting out it's hard to be fast enough and actively looking for opponent's items. Even good players won't notice someone having a blademail built if they kept it hidden and were then found in the jungle. It's a legit strat to hide crucial Blink Daggers on stuff like supports, earthshakers, sand kings, etc. Most anything with a good AOE stun is a good hero to hide a blink if the enemy's going to be pushing your towers very soon.

You can look up enemy heroes abilities here (http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Heroes) when they're picked/you see them in your lane. Very few heroes will instantly kill you at level 1 (level 2 there's batrider and ursa that can go very badly if you don't know what they do). Here's an item list http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Items

  7. I dunno, in Hearthstone/Netrunner I'll maybe look up cards in advance but I won't _learn_ all of them till I've encountered them all in enough games. Lots of times you play in a more competitive atmosphere with a self made deck that uses less used cards and your opponent will go "Wait what does this card do?".

  8. That sounds like it will be great, dozens of hours from now when I've learned everything. I don't want to spend the next dozen hours, hell I don't want to spend the next two matches, dying because the opponent had some weird power that punished me for not knowing it. I hate that, so I'm not going to play Dota.

Yeah, that's 100% dota. But aren't all multiplayer games going to surprise you with stuff the enemy's doing that you yourself don't know about, even if you don't have to pay some microtransactions?

  9. Memorizing the hundred+ heroes is only the start. When you get used to the map you might know juke paths and which specific trees to eat to get away safely while the enemy keeps searching for you behind a tower.

Also I'd say that seeing the skills after you see someone/they kill you is fine, you're going to be making uninformed decisions for 100+ hours easily.

  10. I don't know who the tutorials are aimed for but I imagine most people who don't know anything about the game would see these two lines as 100% conflicting

    - Kills creeps to kill towers to get to the enemy ancient

    - Don't push the lane, only attack to last hit

You can left click on an emey to select them and hover over their abilities to read tooltips of skills and items. If the skills did damage you can hover over them in the death overview.

I'd say Clinkz isn't a great beginner hero, he doesn't really do great unless you're farming fast enough or getting tons of kills. You might be invincible in your games due to noone buying detection items though. If you're behind Clinkz'll feel like a shit hero. Stuns are great and always relevant.

  11. My point wasn't about mechanical advantage, it was that the decisions had very obvious moral answers. That's an interesting dilemma to present when you have to weigh morality against your better interests "I could let this criminal go because I want the money more than I want justice", but with the way the game delivered mechanical rewards, it set morality in step with your better interests. "I could let this criminal go and get some money, or I could turn him in and get some money, justice, and a shop discount. Why was I considering letting him go again?". There is no reason, narrative or mechanical, for you to let the criminal go, unless you're playing the Chaotic Evil puppy-kicking sort of character.

The fact that you're literally helping to hang someone isn't at least somewhat problematic?
