Beyondthesummit has lots of stats but they're in a side pop up and are sometimes not even mentioned by the casters. -

Are there any other games that would be a better example? Deus Ex: HR had the Rescue Tong mission that was gameplay wise just a few rooms with guards roaming about if I remember correctly. FNV had the 4 DLC that were all well crafted but told a story that wasn't really integrated into the main game. There's DLC for FNV, Witcher 2 (this one is free to download since release but was a preorder bonus), probably other games that give you a bunch of bonus stuff for buying at BestShop, in FNV at least it just ruins any sort of pacing and scraping together enough to get some gear before exploring. Witcher 2 has Geralt start with little to no stuff on him. Deus Ex had some extra guns as well. Starting items for that sort of game is a worse because your supplies should have an influence on how you experience the beginning of a game. -

Dota Today 12: Creating a Gestalt with Aaron Ayesee Chambers

I'm sorry I only seem to post negative things in these threads. The qualifiers are great so far, I was very surprised that MVP (the Korean team) managed to do as well as it did. The bracket isn't done yet so they might end up in the main tournament. They're playing well. Shame Zephyr choked so hard. Back at TI3, with the Korean commentators and the winning team of the Gom league getting free tickets to TI3 (watch, not play), people were saying that a Korean team might get into TI5 or 6. robotslave, aren't there already plenty of Youtube videos for beginners? There's plenty to talk about between CLUTCH fights though most casts need a player to talk about that. I think many people would avoid a caster team that explained what a BKB or bounty hunter's track do every game. If you're watching in game you can look at the tool tips yourself anyway, especially at TI4, the games are free to observe in game. -
Is this just common on US servers? This rarely happens and if it does it's usually so bad it's funny. I haven't actually had anyone camp a fountain unless you count the few minutes while two lanes of creeps kill the throne. I don't see the difference between them being there or them just killing 2 of your raxes and then going to kill Rosh or farming some more. Game's over anyway. Have some fun.
-
What function did you fit it on? It'd be a poor estimate anyway, since the behaviour should change when valve add more stretch goals.

It's likely there's some streams for this already, but they're not in the game client since there's a limit of 6 casting teams. Probably some twitch channel with few viewers. -
Is the limit for that fantasy league reached yet? I wanna join as well if I can please.
-
Yeah most people don't do it any more. Not since people are on average any friendlier, at least not most people. It's because you can't use chat for increasing amounts of times when you're muted so you can't blame team mates as much. TeamLiquid's got a new website for Dota2 now, it's got a pretty nice schedule with links to streams. Dunno if I'm allowed to directly link to it.

Yeah it should be a big deal. At TI or some big studio production. I don't think they call ganks rapes there. Maybe Tobi slips once a year. -

I'm glad there isn't a big deal if someone slips a word. There was a SC2 caster that was nailed to a cross because someone found a one year old VOD of him being not EG level of PR. So he got sacked from casting a tournament. Here's all the ices in dota btw: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/Ice It's funny how in a few hours between this podcast going up the compendium was released and the prize money is already matching last year's amount. But I guess this was recorded a few days ago. http://www.dota2.com/international/compendium/ -

This was a great listen, I hope you'll manage to get another one out with ayesee soon. There's a point to calling players by their nicknames. Everyone who watches dota now knows who dendi, S4, iceiceice are. Noone knows who Danil Ishutin, Gustav Magnusson, Daryl Koh Pei Xiang are. It would be horrible if at some point there'll be a commentator yelling people actual names. Few people know who these people are: Chai Yee Fung Xu Zhilei Johan Sundstein Joakim Akterhall Andrew Chipenko You have sports teams in America making up names to call themselves. Otherwise it's mostly sponsors' names in the team names or the team's city. Even in Korean starcraft leagues the players have their own chosen nicknames, though the korean casters use the players real names. I can't remember the last time this was a thing. About professionalism, what's the point? Some of it is a worthwhile goal to strive for, like being punctual with schedules but you're streaming on twitch and you're calling a player via skype after the game, but you don't need to make it soulless. You can see how well made SC2 streams are now. It's fucking boring. The game's probably a bit at fault but everything is like watching some 2 AM pool tournament on eurosport. -
Most people in random pubs don't actually appreciate tips. It just seems like more trash talking.

I have no idea if it hits invisible heroes but ok there is that. It's not AOE like Lion's impale, it still only hits 1 target. Unless you're hitting invisible heroes it'll still be vastly better to click the hero not the ground.
-
It's not really a skillshot, you can just deward with it now.

I think my gfwl code name is ThronedCoder77. Can I change this or did I just get branded by Microsoft?
-
Ok, I'll get the vanilla steam GTA4 installed then. Which of the 3 logins do I need to share?
-
Which version of GTA4 do I need to install on steam to join? I hope GFWL still works for this.
-
Just look for the sale on the gold or GOTY or w/e version on Steam or elsewhere, it just has everything in it. They made super much DLC, some super civs, super map packs. Some civ packs had super scenarios maybe. Some of the civs are super good, like the Koreans.

Isn't Wasteland 2 doing something like this? About levelling in Morrowind and Oblivion. There's a big difference between the two. If you didn't build your character correctly in Oblivion you encountered hitting an enemy 50+ times to kill them while you stand in front of them and chug health potions. It wasn't that interesting. Alchemy/Enchanting/Spellmaking was very much nerfed in comparison to Morrowind. In Morrowind if you had trouble in the combat due to not enough HP or not enough offensive power, you could turn yourself invisible, run really fast, fly over the enemy to avoid him or to kill him from somewhere he can't reach you. But most of it doesn't work very well without some kind of alchemy abuse, most vendors have somewhere below 1k gold on them for buying stuff, and they don't even buy at full value. Permanent enchants off vendors cost 120k+ I think but they never fail. If you try enchanting you break the gem most of the time with no result. I guess even without the crafting system you can still easily get through the game if you happen to find/look up on permanent enchanted artifacts like the Cuirass of Saviors Hide with 50%+ magic resistance, a suit of glass armor you can walk to and steal from the start of the game, the assassins that Tribunal added that are levelled for your convenience but the items dropped aren't. So you can sleep outside Seyda Neen and pick up 8k of items off something that's about as dangerous as a mud crab. Also, Morrowind didn't have nearly as much levelled content as Oblivion, bandits didn't sprout glass armour as far as I remember. You could outlevel most stuff, at least in vanilla Morrowind. Also you could buy infinite training, though you had to find better and better trainers for stuff.
-
You're incorrect, it still draws everything, it just makes your gamma go to zero. It'll only be partially darkened if you're a Breton with the magic resistance. It's a pun on the name I think, there's a spell called blind that makes everything appear darker, the boots give 100 points of it? The classic usage of mechanics is to make a spell that gives you magic resistance of 100% or close enough that you can cast it for the minimum time allowed, probably 1 second. You cast that, enter inventory, equip boots, resist blind. Now you can walk around with them while still seeing everything.

I've seen OpenMW before, hope it'll be to morrowind what OpenTTD was to Transport Tycoon. OpenTTD has 128 player servers that take several minutes to scroll through. I'll probably have more to add later but about the speed in Morrowind, I think you move slower if you're above 50% carrying capacity. Weight of equipped items MIGHT factor in but I don't think it does. You can cut transport times by a lot if you remember to use mark and recall in mainly 2 ways; mark a spot in a dungeon when you're full, use either almisi or divine intervention to somewhere, drop your stuff in front of the temple door and recall back to get more stuff. Then slowly drag the loot heap to a vendor when you're done with the dungeon. The other way is to mark a quest giver if you think you'll be returning to them and then recalling to get there fast. This is pretty much all the guild quest givers.

Idle Thumbs 153: Blondie, Freckles, and Glasses
Jutranjo replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I haven't played Luftrausers or looked the apology post but looking at some youtube game play I can see the plane flying around shooting stuff with engines such as gungine and SUPERBOOST. There's some caricatures of German general dudes who might be in a WW1 or WW2 setting. That this is causing people to think about it is good but that it's the one that caused people to talk is shit. The Red Alerts, Company of Heroes, the Call of Duty,Medal of Honor and the million other FPS WW2 games that followed, plus Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Commandos and the mountains of real time and turn based strategy games and simulators. They took the setting of world war 2 enthusiasts and made it a backdrop to mechanics. How many of them even mentioned civilians beyond as a mission objective to take care not to blow up? That's fine, they just wanted to make simulators, didn't want to make an RTS with zerg and protoss. It's made it so that the accepted WW2 setting in video games is ignoring almost everything about the war except that the allied forces had to attack Germany, there are German soldiers stationed around Europe, there is no question of what is the right thing to do beyond what the mechanics say. I doubt a single game even mentioned the death camps, the holocaust or even the word jew. Probably only some of Paradox's grand strategy games and The Stick of Truth use it. Well and The Shivah. That's a much bigger issue than this image: http://media1.gameinformer.com/filestorage/CommunityServer.Components.SiteFiles/imagefeed/featured/indie/vlambeer/luftrausers/luftrausers-1250-610.jpg -
That's because they've only talked about what they liked from each faction in every episode so far! Mostly
