The thing you want a pro player on a stream for is that tobi, ayesee, etc., most of the guys who are good commentators is that they don't have as much game sense as pro players. You can watch spectating by N0tail at the BTS LAN, he didn't miss anything because he saw what teams were planning in advance. Pro players add a lot but the most insightful stuff is during the pick and ban phase, where everyone else, including viewers just think of the flavors of the month, and during the game have something to point out almost always, where other commentators would just go off on some tangent to not have a silence. The beginner cast will probably have whoever is casting, doubtfully any pro players, explain what a BKB is, what roles a team has, what is support, what is carry. It'll explain a courier, what a bottle is, what are runes, etc. You don't need 2000 hours of captains mode to do a good cast of this. It'll probably be really annoying to watch for anyone who isn't that new to the game since it's likely the stream will be saying the same things all the time. I have no idea how good the multicast is going to be or how they will set it up. Will it be a guy or pair of guys switching from caster to caster in games, will they cast the games/highlights themselves? That'll be interesting to see. Here's the game on youtube the pick&ban ends at 12:32. It's a long game.

It's a good game with an ending. Sadly the ending is shit, you reach it when you're had enough of grinding clicks on a website. At that point you don't even look at the text. The first few hours are great but it just goes downhill from there, not from the quality of the writing but from the system it uses.

I thought voxels were more interesting because of the rendering technique, Minecraft still renders with polygons. Lots of games use procedural generation for worlds or gameplay but indie games seem to use it a bit more often. Not all of them use it, many have fixed/hand crafted levels.

If any hero really needs a shadowblade it's Kunkka, the backstab damage is applied to the cleave. Every time Dota Today comes out, a few hours later Valve put out a ton more info about whatever wasn't known before: http://www.dota2.com/international/overview/ There'll be a multicast stream! Begginer one! Prizes for everyone except 15/16th team.

Isn't that suppose to be the Recreational? POD IS NOT DED!
-
It only shows up when you close the game, you could just ignore it. Most steam trading I've seen is just selling or buying sub 10 cent items on the steam market. Of which Valve takes 30% but whatever.
-
Shadowblade is kinda shit in comparison to blink on most heroes, it costs too much mana, besides all the other stuff.

You guys are playing in about an hour? How can I join in?

The biggest differences I remember seeing are around 12k, most teams just gg out if it gets higher because the game is almost obviously fucked at that point. I'm sure Navi won a game despite some 15k deficit.

Idle Thumbs 164: The Seed of a Sneeze
Jutranjo replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I mean if this was any other kickstarter game that wasn't set in space with ships, noone would take it seriously. An FPS game where you were sold guns or ammo, a racing game where they sold cars with maybe life time track memberships. Or sold you extra sets of tires or fuel. MMOs that sell lifetime anything have so far been a bad deal for those that bought in. -
I can tell you it's not in the first 63 episodes. If I happen to hit it I'll post another reply.

So what happens to funding servers after release? This is online, right? -

How is it that Star Citizen gets praised everywhere I see it mentioned but the whole deal of selling people in game things for prices that exceed yearly MMO subscriptions and all micro transactions in any game I've seen isn't strange to anyone? Is it because 2€ purchases seem like exploiting dumb people but someone spending 2000€ on a virtual space boat can't be stupid enough to fall for it? -
I'm listening to the old episodes, I first started at like 120 in august or something, now I'm at episode 62. The podcast has ended twice so far, then started up again.

Baldurs gate CDs I hate my 4 DVD box with both games and both expansions. Steam is so much easier.

Wisp is hard as fuck to play well. Not only for the guy playing the wisp but unlike say meepo your teammates need to play vastly differently to account for your ulti anywhere.
-
Wisp+VS is barely better vs a trilane than just solo VS. VS could at least leech exp, wisp could make sure pudge doesn't get runes or at least gets less of them. The jungler didn't have problems from the enemy trilane?
-
Bounty's only good for ganking riki but he doesn't see him coming. Slardar's the same deal. A dust or their ulti is the same, theirs is worse since you can't blind fire it. Riki coming up to someone to gank won't be affected by the fairy fire, only when running away. Diffusal, manta or bkb remove dust and BH ulti. Not to say that BH is bad at killing Riki, he just isn't particularly better at killing him than killing any other hero.

I like it a lot more than ability draft. You only draft once, try shit early game, you have fun because it looks silly but then it's over and you get to play the rest of the game as broken heroes. ARDM is how specific to a hero you want to build before you die and respawn as arcane boots euls chaos knight. It has some bugs though, if you DC and reconnect you won't be able to buy items for your current hero, after you die once it fixes itself.
-
If it's any hero vs creeps and a tower the hero wins. If you want to split push you need to be able to escape the 2-4 people that come looking at you sitting in a lane alone.
-
MoM is good, you're fucked anyway if someone finds you in fights. But it's still shit for split pushing.
-
Sniper's a bad solo pusher though. You can't get away unless you buy a blink, shadowblade won't help vs dust. You might be able to blink into trees and Boots of Travel away.
-
Yeah but anyone on the team can make the deso. Sniper can fill his inventory with items that aren't deso but give more dmg per slot.
-
But desolator is 61 gold per +dmg. That's comparable to buriza if you didn't look at the crit. MKB gives small attack speed as well as a 2nd bash. Sniper has long range and a 40% chance to bash. You want to build attack speed for more bash procs. For defence you can buy lots of different things but I don't see the point of going +dmg when you can go +attack speed. Mjolnir is boss.
