The ALL NEW Monday Night Multi-Thumbs RANDOMIZER
Jutranjo replied to Lu 's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Since I was the one who suggested it, I'll write up an introduction to it this week. -
I haven't played the build but it looks stupid. The whole point of brood is to pressure lanes and since the last patch made it so spiderlings can stack in one spot on webs. Unless the enemy has a rotting pudge or yeah axe, the spiders dont get damaged and put out of their speed/phasing mode. They will kill supports at low levels or until the support gets items if they catch him out somewhere. It's also a nuke with the usual scaling damage. Even if you are against an axe in lane you can just send your spiders to kill things in the jungle. I'll try it next time I'm with a friend in LPQ but it seems as viable as no poof or ult meepo.

There's this article that was written for The International 2 years ago http://www.liquiddota.com/forum/dota-2-general/453950-so-you-wanna-watch-dota-2-a-primer Also this has links to many guides http://www.liquiddota.com/forum/dota-2-general/453835-welcome-to-dota2 I think they also have one for Starcraft 2 players wanting to watch/play dota2.

Do you have a high perception character with the perceive circle turned on? Anything outside the circle is mines. I liked rail nomad. The walking back and forth took maybe 5 or 10 minutes too long but oh well.

That sounds very similar to the Highpool I got to after Ag Center. I shot a few lizards and traffic sign raiders and found a broken radio tower. edit: The 1st radio tower where Ace was killed is ok but the whole Ag center felt like a combat/environment tutorial area with those annoying frag grenade mutant tomato pods.

I haven't tried melee yet but shotguns are good for hitting multiple targets when they line up. They'd probably be better if the character had another weapon available but even the cone size difference between a coach(?) gun and some wider shotgun make a big difference in how you can use them. Are you guys using the free aim mode for shotguns? It's the red crosshair in the upper left of the weapon frame or if you hold down control. Also crouching helps when you got a few melee opponents that aren't going to move for a few turns, it's bound to ; or ' by default. I got more interested in the storyline/world after I got to into the citadel, the ag center really wasn't at all interesting.

You know how horrible mistimed OD astral imprisonments and SD disruptions are? Bloodseeker's blood rage can backfire so much more. It also helps pugna blasting towers a ton.

Look on the bright side, there's 10 people that are THAT guy in your games. In all games. Sometimes it works out, sometimes you're that guy who has an 80% winrate with Void but air balls 4 chronospheres on your teammates. I can't wait for this to get released on the main client, I've tried a few games on the test client, they're usually 15-20 minutes of game then people start leaving. Also the skill levels are totally random. Bloodseeker is great fun to play. Bloodrage now gives +40% damage taken and received, both spell and physical. If anyone kills the unit it's on, or the unit kills anything, the killer heals for 25% of the unit's max HP. Bad things to do with blood rage #1: Putting it on a shadow fiend 3 people are hitting so you'd all get 40% bonus damage on him, as he has BKB on and casts ulti, wiping a double creep wave for an instant 2k hp heal as well as a triple kill. The kill bounty seems really high, I was playing a 3v4 game on the test client, game lasted 45 min, I had something like 17/12/10 score with around 220 CS and I had 813 GPM.

It's really hard to say. There's 2 new uber cliff wards near T2 towers now. Pro teams that were dire drafted around taking Rosh before.

You should obviously start with the best DOTA clone then. The tutorial is sub 1 hour if you want to try it, it only has bots in it.

The ALL NEW Monday Night Multi-Thumbs RANDOMIZER

Some thoughts about B.I.O.N.I.C. C.O.M.M.A.N.D.O. I really enjoyed playing it and I shared the excitement of the mumble even if I didn't say so out loud. 1st game was CTF on the ship, then I came back for the skyscraper TDM. The hooking is great. It looks great, it feels great, it gives you so much movement freedom and SPEED compared to how you trod around and do that silly dodge with Ctrl. I wish the top speed was higher. The first two or three consecutive grapples forward accelerate you but then it stops. It's so close to capturing the feeling you get when you watch this The maps were well crafted for the movement system of the game. I'm guessing they were made for the multiplayer after singleplayer levels were done. The modes for the maps are separate, they could have been so much better. That stupid UT2k3 ball mode with goals, with either ball as flag or ball as physical object you GRAPPLE JUMP onto. I have to wonder what bigger maps would play out like. The radiation zones are kinda meh, just let me fly out of the level a few meters. Let me fly over the whole level to the enemy flag or make it inside a cave or a glass skyscraper cave. More modes that focus on movement, RACE mode FFA FFS. The netcode. Not as bad as magicka but man would it be better if it was working 100% of the time. I haven't played singleplayer enough to get to all the weapons but I'm guessing that they just took the weapons out of the singleplayer. Why have hitscan weapons when you could have crazy projectiles. Explosives that you can clip swinging people with or do a sweet mid air shot on. Tribes is defined by the skiing and the spinfuser. I'm posted mostly nitpicks I want to play this again somehow, it's a really fresh feeling. The aesthetic of the sunny ship CTF level with bright and shiny red and blue players. Why the fuck was that not advertised. I didn't follow this game a ton when it was in previews in 2009 but all the screenshots were of boring brown cityscapes with brown and dark green dread man doing kinda sweet grapples but back then I instantly thought it was all predetermined where you can hook like jumping in older Hitman games. Edit: The evening was great, you guys were very friendly. Compared to the GTA nights I joined, this was way more animated and focused. Except for a few cops and robbers moments. Should I post suggestions for the next one in this thread? -

I fucked up my Twitch channel settings, it reset my preferences, the default was set to Not Archive My Broadcasts. So that one's lost. -

If there's a spare copy left I'm in. I'll need a few hours before the event to train download the thing off Steam. Which version of Hamachi is this? There's also Tunggle as an alternative if Hamachi craps out. -
Slovene has a few ok title translations but nothing is thankfully ever dubbed. "Osmi Potnik" (Eight Passenger) is "Žrelo" (Throat) is

Idle Thumbs 174: Live from the Metropolitan Ballroom

Usually reviews of board games take into account expansions if they're out already and they don't consider future expansions. Some review writers do have a fetish for collecting smaller boxes and emptying them into the larger box that they also bought to hold the whole game + expansions. Almost every board game I've played has the base game be a worthwhile experience to play and you buy the expansion later on when you want a bit more of the same game. When one guy buys a game and all 4 expansions for it is when the night can go to shit. No one's played the base game and the expansions assume familiarity with the base thing while also being more complex. Civilization the Board Game with an extra dials for financial investments in addition to the three in one dial resource system, the tech pyramid, etc. is overwhelming. Battlestar Galactica is hard enough to do a convincing game of traitors if one player spends an extra minute reading their Role Card. The role cards either say "You are not a traitor" or "You a traitor. Here are 2 paragraphs of possible actions of betrayal with specific timings". Chaos in the Old World's expansion straight up replaces the base game's player decks of spells and all the upgrades. I've never played a game of CITOW without the expansion. -

I don't agree with this idea that expansions are bad for boardgames. The only question is how well it plays as a game. Netrunner, Race For The Galaxy, even Carcassonne play well with no expansions. Carcassonne gets a bit better once you've played it a bunch but only like 2 expansions are worth getting. Arkham Horror has the best expansion in boardgaming, it expands all your other expansions. Dominion is up there with expansions. Maybe it's a mismatch of modern DLC versus older expansion models like Tales of the Sword Coast? -

The comment box is really hard to scroll without skipping a line when it's 5+ lines. If I highlight text and drag it up and down I can eventually read it but just using scroll wheel, arrow keys or the arrow buttons doesn't work. I'm using Chrome on Win7.- 6 replies

All the different difficulties are strange for figuring out stuff. Maybe on higher levels the enemy civilizations attack sooner. If you wipe out someone's religion they will really hate you but they haven't attacked me for that yet. You can put all your faith into making more missionaries than the other guy and make the whole continent follow your religion or even the whole world. It doesn't do much though, mechanics wise you get more a bit more money or culture. If one Civ took over another Civ's religion in every city, the 2nd one doesn't seem to mind you taking over with your religion.

I guess DOTA really isn't worth selling, DOTA2 is free even. They showed interesting examples of the SC2 editor's capabilities, like a 3rd person RPG map with WASD, crazy scripted ultralisk with spine and spore crawlers on it's back that shot exploding banelings. While the engine supported WASD and mouse look as inputs, it didn't work with multiplayer client/server predictions. There is no prediction, what you see is what's there but your client has lag before things happen. There's just so little unit variety compared to WC3. It's really strange how Blizzard had WC3 and DOTA but didn't do anything with it.

Leaving a game gets you (eventually) penalized IF you're the 1st person to leave. If someone else has already left/been disconnected for 5 minutes total/has been AFK for 5 minutes the message above the Disconnect Button will be a green "This game is safe to leave." It'll also show in game in the kill log but that can be missed. If it isn't safe to leave it'll have a red sentence explaining how you could be ruining the game for the rest of your team. Leaving a bunch of games get you put into the low priority queue with everyone else who abandoned too many games for X games. I don't know what the threshold is but I think it's lower than 10% of your games abandoned. I usually leave a game as soon as someone abandons and queue up for another if I have time. You could keep playing and get that 4 man comeback or silly 2v3 games. Those can be fun with the right heroes.

The WC3 Kart Racer was made by Blizzard, it worked fine solo on a local client or on LAN, it does not work with 100 ms. Then, when the SC2 editor was released, someone very quickly (less than 24 hours) made a kart racer in SC2 I don't know how this one plays since it was impossible to fill a custom game unless it was Nexus Wars or one of the other top 10 maps unless you had 5-10 friends online that you could manually invite to come play. I just want to add that WC3's single screen list of hosted games with lobby names ordered via time of creation (or closed/opened last slot) turned out to be vastly superior to SC2's 5 screens of tabs of maps you could play. Then again they didn't bother putting in chat rooms till 6 months down the line. SC2 was really the loneliest multiplayer experience at launch

Nope, nothing. There's a bad custom game system for finding a game for any map on the top 10 list by popularity. I don't think the ranking has changed much since beta.

It's not board games?
