I know that the studio went through some staff changes around the middle to late development of Guac, so that could factor in to it. That boss fight though is a real test of your ability to press buttons good, which in my experience with the rest of the game was either reduced in difficulty or only done in the side bonus rooms, and in either case, not also put to the challenge of doing it for a long period consistently, which is that boss fight.
  2. It's kind of the same logic as to Nes yelling "PK Fire!", it's ripped from the originating game's conventions, it's consistent but dumb. ...also yeah, Fire Emblem: Awakening is super good.

Word on the street is that the original design of the boss was actually a lot harder, and the released version was toned down. But thats also the point where I quit the game.
  4. This was pointed out by a reader of Video Games Hot Dog, but the Adventure Time episode Dungeon Train is a piece of media about video games without being explicitly about video games. Super cool.
  5. The Idle Thumbs Store

I could see this one going any way, they are all pretty cool!
  6. The Idle Thumbs Store

Poll for new shirt design! I voted The Wizard because purple is my favourite colour.

I'm making my way through this, I feel like the game is dumb and knows it, and actually makes the cut scenes worth watching. I am however finding a lot of friction in the combat system, can't really grok the parrying, mostly feel like I'm fudging my way through the combat. Of the handful of these spectacle fighter - beat em ups I've played this has probably been my least favourite combat system.

I was watching Saturday morning cartoons and noticed something about McDonald's current happy meal promotions. They have two lines of toys, one is TY Beanie Babies and the other is Mario Kart toys, both things I enjoyed when I was a kid. Let's see if we can spot the difference between the commercials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv3HLWJ2Uro

  12. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I was going to say that there is no reason you can't enjoy both, I sure have! I was additionally going to add that I think MK8 might be easier to grok, but having played both with my girlfriend, she got real good at SaSASRT and is struggling with MK8. I'm going to attribute that to the ability to co-op through SaSASRT's campaign, which through its varying challenges trains you to master the game, where Mario Kart only ratchets up the difficulty through the CCs and level design.

Now unless the vita version is different, from my memory they aren't literal upgrades, just stat modifications right?

I ended up running the second half of the game with Cloak instead of Jaunt. You get a damage bonus when uncloaking which is pretty rad.

We Party You mostly works by doing a pass the gamepad for the board game section, then use the wiimotes for the all-play minigames. The specialty game pad minigames kind of suck, except the one where you make faces. It's deffo the game to get if you want a dumb game to play with friends. I've played a good amount of it in the office two months ago, but haven't played it since getting my own Weeeooooo this week, so my recollection might be hazy, also I don't have a stand, so I can't really even say how much that effects me playing it, but I don't remember ever using the stand in the office.

In the first few episodes "Pull shit out your ass" is a regularly repeated phrase.
  23. I think at this point if you're someone deep into gaming, which is what I would assume of the crowd around here, you're most likely playing the majority of your games on a PC. The PC is your place for indie, AAA and online multiplayer. Where the PS4 and Xbone make promises for those things, they generally charge you more for the privilege of it. You then look at the WiiU, it's not promising to be the console for indie, AAA, and online MP, what it does do though, or at least promises to do is having a wealth of exclusive games and have those games be good for 4 people sitting in the same room. The Wiiooo seems to be the most console-y console at this point, and that's probably why people are changing perspective on it.
  24. Lego Universe was made by NetDevil who has been defunct since 2011 so they can be ruled out as Redacted. One of my coworkers used to work there and from what he has told me, it's probably to Star Citizen's advantage they are not involved.
