RE: Towerfall and Nidhogg What kind of controllers do you all recommend? I have a single wired 360 controller and an SNES USB hub thing with two ports. Could I use an SNES controller for either/both of these games? If so, cool.

I'm mostly interested in hearing how people not already into LoMAs (aka normal people) respond to it. I'm kind of expecting it to get a lot of praise and completely leave me feeling cold and annoyed, like Hearthstone. Blizzard seems to be on a comeback lately, at least in terms of internet dorks liking them.

I'm eyeing the heck out of Mario Golf. The season pass thing is weird, but it adds a TON of new stuff, and the game is only $30 retail anyway, so it's not that bad. The online tourneys seem like they could be really fun and keep me hooked.

Targeted skill shot? Sorry. You can do it into fog of war, or you can just click the dude. Pretty big buff I think. Also, Lich ult can go FOREVER with aghs. This is probably only going to happen in very, very niche circumstances but it will be so cool. Hehe.

This next patch looks to be WILD. I think I'm most hyped about Zeus getting a skillshot(!). Also, maybe Techies are coming finally??

The title they ran with that is so shitty. The AV Club used to be one of the best sites for pop culture shit, but they've fallen pretty far lately.

Goddamnit I'm tempted to buy that record. My girlfriend is discouraging me because I'll "only listen to it like once, maybe" which is probably totally true and we are working on saving up money and budgeting and shit, but damn is it snazzy looking, How many do you guys have left/how fast do you think they'll be gone? I'm on the fence and I just backed a kickstarter thing and ugh. If they are still in stock in like a month I'm totally getting one, maybe.

Oh man, there was this billboard up on my way to work that said "Not everyone who is gay is happy..." and it was for one of those "gay rehab" religious things. Someone spraypainted a big "WTF" on it and they took it down and replaced it with a more cryptic thing for the same place. Now on the bus stop across the street from it there's some graffiti that says "god is gay." It could read several ways, but it made me laugh a little bit when I noticed it last night. Weird stuff.

I caught it last night with the gf. Luckily the theater was almost empty because we were making the worst goddamn noises after dudes got wrecked. The group in front of us was doing the same though. Overall I don't think I liked it as much as the first one, which was short and brutal and kind of primal in it's stakes. The bloated crime family stuff didn't work that well for me, but it wasn't necessarily a strike against it. Once the fights start happening holy shit is it good. I don't know how to do spoilers but there was one reveal that had us freaking out in a good way. But yeah, go see The Raid 2, it's fucking insane.

Have any of y'all seen The Raid 2 yet? I think it opens in my city this weekend, but I'm having trouble finding showtimes. The first one OWNS SO HARD and is pretty much required viewing if you like action/martial arts flicks. It's crazy brutal though, so if you have a weak stomach proceed with caution. The new one looks to be even more batshit awesome than the first, which is already maybe the best action movie I've seen from the past decade. But yeah. The Raid 2 is my most hyped movie of the year.

More recently was the whole Walter White thing. Same phenomenon. This is a topic I think about pretty often. I very much consider myself a feminist and it's actually HARD to not view things through that lens, not that I wouldn't want to. There really is a fine line between something being razor sharp satire or something that thinks it is more clever than it is and falls on it's face. I never really liked South Park precisely because of it's lame ass nihilism and "Everybody is wrong, the answer is in the middle" non-stance on stuff. It's mostly just childish and offensive to me. Meanwhile, one of my favorite shows ever is Wonder Showzen, which is absolutely HORRIBLE if it was removed from the context of the show, especially in comparison to the stuff on South Park. But it's so fucking pointed. When I laugh at Wonder Showzen I don't feel like I'm laughing with a bully (well sometimes...). I'm sure that there are more people who think Wonder Showzen is disgusting filth that should be (or have been) banned, but it never became monolithic like South Park has, so there's only the original context in which to see these jokes. Another thing that strikes me as weird re: comedians is this thing where people hold them up as some kind of prophets whose words we should live by, and there's this weird thing in comedy where they get really defensive about a bad joke that was poorly received that drives me up the fucking wall, but whatever. Also, I'd like to throw my vote in for more explicit feminist chat on the cast. It's fucking refreshing to hear people talk about this shit in the context of video games without being instantly derailed by online jerkbags. PS: That "Barnard"/"Harvard" anecdote made me laugh on the bus like an idiot. Great.

I don't think Vlad's works with sniper, or maybe that is just the aura? I'd say a helm would be better if your trying to be "serious" or a MoM if you want to go all out insanity build. Also shit, I want to play some games with chill people. Will be trying to get a group going in the thumbs and dotatoda channels at some point this weekend.
