Rad. I think I'm playing correctly now. I somehow thought that to interact with ice you needed to have a total combined strength in icebreakers and then and icebreaker to interact with whatever type of ice. Our games are ending a lot quicker now though, The first three or four games took forever and dragged on and on because no one did anything,

I'm planning on taking over my core set to game night this weekend and let people fuck around trying to build little skirmish decks. Should be fun. Also, FUCK I am bad at grokking rules in tabletops. I was doing the icebreaker/ice strength thing TOTALLY wrong. What's some other junk that is obvious but I am dumb and might not have realized?

[This is good] As someone who has struggled with mental illness, I don't really think it's offensive to say that yeah there was something going on with this kid. We need to work on helping people before this stuff happens. This person clearly WAS mentally ill. Extremely so. If we are to take away something from this about the mentally ill it shouldn't be "whoa, don't focus on that, it's offensive" it should be "whoa, how can we help people, especially people who are so far gone that they think this kind of shit?" Ah, here's the boardgame thread! I'm getting that itch for something new, even though I bought a pretty big haul a few months back and recently backed the Catacombs kickstarter and I don't even play my games as much as I'd like lately. I keep thinking "well, maybe if I get <game> we'll all want to meet up and play it all the time!" We never do. I'm eyeing Tash Kalar and Mage Knight so fuckin hard though.

I used to play with a group of five IRL/online buddies, but we've been having trouble getting a full stack lately. If anyone wants to fill in an open slot or two or three sometimes hit me up. My steam profile is below. e: For Dota 2, I mean. I forgot this was a general LOMA thread.

Use your dudes to hit him when he does that. Stuns are nice. Maybe rotate someone in from another lane if you can. Capitalize on him being way out of position. Use cc.

Bjorn, I don't what else you like, but if you dig martial arts stuff and can handle some ultra-violence I have to recommend checking out The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2. The Raid 2 was probably the most exciting thing I've seen in theaters in the past five years. Or ever. It's really fucking good as an action movie.

I think techies are gonna be like a more popular Meepo. He's one of those classic Dota heroes everyone "loves" but is kind of a liability on your team more often than not. I am excited for them to finally port all the old dudes into Dota 2 though.

Played another scrub tier game with my buddy using my starter decks last night, and I got trashed as corp. I scored an Advanced Beta Test on turn two, which caused me to trash the top cards of R&D. Next turn he runs on archives and grabs a two point agenda. Dang. Then he uses the program that allows archives runs to count as HQ runs and grabs a 3 pointer out of my hand. Dang. I have no ice and am low on cash so I use melange mining corp on my next turn and then he gets into my hq again and grabs another two pointer, winning the game 7-2. Dang. I can see the hooks digging in though. Every time we hang out lately we'll play a game. I think I'll haul over my core set next time and we can try our hand at deckbuilding. I think it helps that he realizes how quickly the game plays and how engaging it is. There is no downtime compared to some other boardgames I have. And the first time I showed him and my other friend how to play it took them OVER TWO HOURS. Christ.

I've not seen Godzilla yet, but I did watch the director's previous movie, Monsters, over the weekend. It's pretty awful. The titular, uh... monsters are neat, and I like the idea of the huge beasties NOT being the focus of the movie, but it has a fucking awful script. The characters make no sense at all. I can't imagine a human behaving/reacting to things like they did. And the dialogue was bad and the acting was bad and the editing was bad. There were traces of stuff that I kind of could dig, but I would not recommend it. It made me not really care if I miss out on Godzilla. Also, I didn't like Pacific Rim very much either, despite Ron Perlman being in it and the sick-ass monster fights. Wait, those are recommendations. Hm. The Simpsons is a very good tv show.

My current jam. I'm a bit late on the hot new shit lately. Been out of keeping up on that kind of stuff for a bit. Shame.

I think I finished The Stanley Parable with my girlfriend the other day. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It was funny and I love meta recursive shit and I LOVE that this kind of stuff (thoughtful narratives and playing with the constructs of a computer game) is happening in games now. We played Gone Home together and had a great time, and I'm thinking we'll play Kentucky Route Zero next and then I should probably get The Walking Dead S1. She seems to really enjoy this kind of thing, much much moreso than "regular" games. Anyway, Stanley Parable. My reading of it was that it was essentially saying was that video games are stupid. Which is fine. Am I totally fucking wrong here? Or am I wrong for trying to get a big reading out of it?

Awesome. Yeah with the base set that I have I feel like I'm making tons of concessions when looking at cards to add to a deck. Nice to hear that maybe goes away after only a few packs.

Hey! I just played my maybe fourth or fifth game tonight and am maybe wanting to start getting into the deckbuilding side of things. This is my first game like this that I really like, what are some good general tips for decks? I know you want to keep it lean, but I feel like a babe in the woods here. Also had my first corp win when the runner face checked into a snare with only two cards in his grip. He was up 4-0 in agendas and it was wholly unsatisfying. Also which packs have the good shit in them? I keep hearing Jackson Howard is a necessity, are there any other cards I should know about that are real cool, or do I just want to buy stuff for factions I like or do I just want to eventually end up with everything? I only play casually with my buddies trying to get them into it right now.

Oh god, I didn't realize there would be a live draft. I probably will be able to do it, but it's nice to know I can still get garbage picks if I miss it. Also, fucking WEIRD. I just noticed Taterdactyl is in Louisville, and SO AM I. I almost never see people from here on the internet in the wild. Small world.

Looks like that tourney code is missing a digit. And where do you join the community? The way content is distributed through this game is obscure as fuck. Some tournaments you do from the clubhouse basement but others are in quick play?
