Speaking of Horror manga, I would LOVE an Junji Ito collected stories collection or to see the Fuan no Tane series translated.AJIN and Prophecy is getting translated from Vertical and I'm very excited about that; good horror mangas. Urasawa's also getting Master Keaton and Monster re-prints which is amazing news.

It's the best way to get through the Hellboy series. The bigger format really showcases hiw amazing Mignola's art and Stewart's color is.

I'm almost done with Black Moon Calhoun does marvelous job writing about insomnia and the mystic of sleeping and dreaming and what happens when one and society loses the ability to sleep; there's almost an esoteric wisdom that sleepers (those rare who can sleep) carry when talking about sleeping and when viewing the insomniacs. The book fumbles a bit when moving through characters (each chapter deals with 4 different characters) and Calhoun’s prose can get awkward and a bit cumbersome. Other than those complains, I'm really enjoying this book.

It's amazing how the quality of a comic can go downhill so fast and I'm talking about BPRD. Once Guy Davis left, BPRD went down in quality and that's mostly because Davis did an amazing job building and creating the atmosphere and monsters of BPRD. Not only that, Mignola and Arcudi expanded and lingered too much with their stories. Though I will say that The Long Death was one of the better post-Davis stories and was a cathartic read because it perfectly wrapped up the Johann Kraus & Captain Ben Daimio arch which was years in the making. I'm enjoying Hellboy in Hell but it needs to come out faster.

Ennis's War Stories are an must read because they're absolutely brilliant and which contain some of his more humanistic stories; they're also some of the best action comics ever created. When Ennis is on his A game, he can create amazing characters and situations that hit close to home. I really enjoyed the Nick Fury comic he wrote last year with Goran Parlov.

Just got done with Nijigahara Holograph, wow... A somber and elliptical story with even somber characters. I loved it. Did a new post on Typex's Rembrandt http://the9thblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/rembrandt-typex.html?m=0

As much as I love Slaughterhouse-5, I'd like to have a book club on Mother Night instead. I LOVE Mother Night, such a highly-kinect absurdist book.

God, I think I might get this for ps3 but the PC version is cheaper... Playing that game on my PC rig might push it hard but I'll have no one play it on; the same goes with the ps3 too. Ha- 1284 replies

It's definitely one of her best works and one of her more surreal/horror works too. I highly recommend checking out Oyasumi Punpun & Umibe no Onnanoko.

Yes. While not as wholly unique and meta as If on a winter's night a traveler , the rest of Calvino's work is worth your time. I highly recommend reading Invisible Cities --> Cosmicomics --> and then The Baron in the Trees (my favorite from Calvino). The Nonexistent Knight and The Cloven Viscount & Marcovaldo: or the Seasons in the City are also worth your time but I'd ch eck them out when your more comfortable with Calvino.
