Idle Thumbs 181: Rumors & Hearsay
namman siggins replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I know about its origin and background and it doesn't make me hate the word any less. It's gone the way of emo and like: horribly distorted, bastardized and misused to the point in which society should drop it and move on. -
Idle Thumbs 181: Rumors & Hearsay

- On Alient:Isolation: Creative Director at Fictional Games Thomas Grip really captured my thoughts on Alien with his blogpost http://frictionalgames.blogspot.com/2014/10/thoughts-on-alien-isolation-and-horror.html - Sean: Since you like Wolf in White Van, you should check out these books: 10:04, All the Birds, Singing, Station Eleven, & Black Moon - Evil Within: I'm on and off with this game. I really disliked the parts where it's fighting placed enemies in a place or village--what's with Mikami's obsession with villages and villagers turning into Cronenbergian monstrosities? Also, there are a couple places in the game where you hunkering down and fighting-off hordes of games, ugh; luckily, those situations is few and far in the game and they don't last long. Another aspect I disliked are the upgrades: you don't get enough upgrade goo in the game. This lack of upgrade goo makes it hard to turn the character into your own unique thing and makes progressing through the game harder than it needs to be. The game really shines when it's elliptical in its storytelling; there's a Lynchian quality to the storytelling and visuals too. It keeps you on your toes, and it's always visually pleasing and a blast to navigate these bizarre, surreal landscapes. I also liked the stealth and boss parts: those moments in the game really captured the survival horror atmosphere and dread that made RE & RE 4 great games. All and all, I think, I'm more on and off; I'm still parsing my thoughts on the game. So, I'm sorry for this rambling mess. -I hate the word hipster(s). -
holyshit! The film has a wonderful Bosch and Wheatley--especially A Field in England--vibe, direction and look to it. I was surprised to hear that the novel was going to be adapted into a film. The novel is so damn offbeat, bizarre, surreal, and very literary--as in, it's perfect for the medium--that a film adapt would have a hard time portraying those parts. I'm not a big fan of adaptations, but I'm very interested to see how this film will tackle the novel. EDIT: Yeah, I'm really excited about this I like the teaser more than the trailer.

Same here, but I'm not too surprised. He is one of the moderate ones and believes all the sexism and harassment should stop, but believes GG has been wrongly maligned. We've been PM'ing each other, but I've taken a break because he wasn't moved an inch.

Went karaoking last weekend. As you can see I had a blast. There's a photo of me doing a killer moonwalk, but alas I cannot find it anywhere.

I'm a sucker for slackjawed pickletits & slopebrowed weaseldicks, mostly because you can trade of the latter part of these insults and use them interchangeably between the two: slackjawed weaseldicks or slopebrowed pickletits.

Goddamn! Homeboy goes straight for the throat; great read.

Been on and off with GG since last week. I finally caught up and what weird twists and turns Gamergate has taken. It seems to have taken this amorphous, shape--for the most part it was, but it was more focused within the gaming community and its people--that will swallow anything that might resemble an ally or an enemy. It's fascinating to see where it is and where it's going to go. With that said, I hope where it goes is away because there have been too many casualties brought from GG. GG has also shown that the men in the gaming industry are silent about things that don't bother them until it gets in their face or a shit ton of people are pushing them to move.

I've been following this on Tweeter these last few hours and I'm exhausted. While posting #stopgamergate and RT as much I can and now reading 8chan is ordering weird food to where Quinn lives... Fuck I just hope this doesn't have a horrible ending.

I'll be down EDIT: Maybe, let me look at my schedule. When are you thinking about doing this?

"Realistic" Captain Cold looks so damn goofy. I'd rather go with the OG costume than that, then again DC has been never good a shape-costume reimaging.

That means nothing. The others can write, turn words into meaning, do research, they're able-human beings like most people. Just because one writes non-reviews doesn't mean the others can't; it's not that hard. They keeping mostly silent because they're afraid to get doxxed or hacked or spammed or all three and that silence it hurting women. They're afraid to get out of their bubble and see and feel the pain women in the industry are currently feeling.

It's always been too little, too late; fucking always. I was listening to Isometric and Wu was talking about the rampant sexism, misogyny and harassment in gaming and that it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better and at the expense and body of many women. Is that what it will take for gaming leaders to say something? Because I feel that's where its heading and I'm not looking forward to that future.

I LOVE Princess Jellyfish, sadly it's only 11-episodes long. My ex got me into it and I feel in love with it instantly; the quirky character designs, the smooth animations, the subject matter--otaku women--and quirky humor.

His questions a clear cut example of leading, Jesus Christ. Just when I thought Milo Yiannopoulos couldn't be anymore of a piece of shit, well...

Alright, won't be seeing it. I already have a hard time walking out in public when I'm in my dress or skirt or just have my nails painted, but I don't want to relive that when I'm watching a movie;unless, it's deeply part of the story and characters.

Re-watched one of my favorite animes of all time today: Angel's Egg SO beautiful.

goddamn it. Also, that's the feeling I got about Paranorman: more of a jokey take, "Hey look, he's gay! Gotcha!" than any actual social commentary or standing.
