  1. It came up in slack that we should do some Coop streaming. Perhaps establish a set of times, and pick games based on who can make it?

I would love to play some Payday 2, Astroneer, Portal 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, L4D2, Borderlands 1 or 2 and Just Cause 3 multiplayer.

I am usually available Sunday-Wednesday evenings CST. I could swing some weekends if this becomes more of a regular thing.

    Thoughts?

  2. I got over my initial annoyances with having to manually land and fast travel, those systems seem mostly fine, if totally unnecessary. (except for being unable to land at a station because a ship was blocking the pad but whatever.)

So what the hell do I do to get my feet off the ground? I did one courier mission, can't do the other one because its out of my range and can't mine because I don't have the equipment. How do I start making space money?

Got this over the holidays and made it through the inevitable Paradox learning curve with the help of You tubers like Bridger.

My first HOI. Really enjoying the era specific Grand Strategy feeling that permeates the game.  I'm also digging my first Japan in WW2 strategy play through in any game ever.

I am finding the army order mechanics VERY fiddly, so I tend to micro the battles  but I'll keep trying to master those controls.

Fighting a land war in China was intensely fun but it's all over now and Mao is toast.  I let Chaing have Tibet and Xingiang as a consolation.  It's  time to take to the seas and build the Greater Asian Co-Prosperity sphere, while hopefully sinking dozens of Anglo American fleets in the process 😀

Aluminum is going to be a resource problem though and I need those Zeros!

I love combined arms games, I just wish HOI didn't have all those endless entire fleet v.s. 1-2 ship battles like EU and CK have. Oh well can't have everything.

Perhaps I'll I become disenchanted as I dig deeper -- I've struggled with EU and Vicky in the past- but this has been a lotta fun for $25 or so.

I really hope the next expansion focuses on the pacific. There are some decent China national focus mods, but that nation really feels like the biggest missing part of HOI4

Does anyone have experience using a Vive in a really small space? My apartment is pretty tiny and the space in front of my PC is about 5' x 8' which I think is about as small as you can go. I have a slightly larger space in my living room, but I could probably only set it up there part of the time.

My space issues have me wondering if a Rift might be better for me since room scale stuff might only be a novelty I can play with sometimes. Does anyone have advice for people with tiny living spaces?

I was able to move some furniture around and get a 2x1.6 meter space, works just fine for almost everything. You can also use the Vive for seated VR. I am not sure which if any of the best seated VR games are Rift only. Eve Valkyre and Elite Dangerous are both on Vive now (those are the only big seated games I know).

  5. I played a bit of Hitman Blood Money tonight. Here is a list of things I miss from 2016 and BM:

Blood Money Features I want in 2016:

    The rifle case

    The newspapers after missions

    Human shields

    stealing guns in melee

2016 features I missed in Blood Money:

    Hiding bodies in more places

    The control scheme

    Using sound as a distraction

The ability to see through walls, even if its super cheaty

  6. I realized posting my meal plan for the week here might be nice, I will give it a try anyway:

Last night I made penne arrabbiata with the addition of carrots and kidney beans. Also used whole wheat pasta. Turned out really well.

In the oven at the moment I have brown butter cornbread I added mushrooms, poblano peppers and black beans, also used whole wheat flour.

Probably tomorrow I will make spicy, peanut buttery Thai carrot noodles I found that a double batch is good for four meals, so that's what I will do.

Breakfast this week is ricotta and berries. I'm doing strawberries and blackberries with this one.

  7. I killed the elusive target with the exploding phone. Was shocked there wasn't a clear way to use food to kill him, maybe I just missed it, but wandered around as a chef and a waiter without finding a good way to do it. I really want to get Silent Assassin in an Elusive Target one of these days.

I would uh... make sure you have pretty good communication skills before playing Overcooked though.

    Ha ha why?
Also turns out I own more than I thought: Portal 2. the new Gauntlet, Lover in a Dangerous Space Time, Magika 1, Monaco, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet

  9. I am dating someone that likes playing video games, unfortunately I don't have a console anymore so all of my two player games are no longer available, I do have a projector which makes spit screen so much better. Currently the only hot seat 2 player game I have is Goat Simulator. She isn't a hardcore gamer so coop or less mean competitive is preferred. Would also like if they were controller games, I only have one controller right now, but it seems a lot better than needing to use a controller and a keyboard or two keyboards.

Yeah, it was shit. None of the SPECTRE stuff worked for me at all. The whole thing was retconned to its breaking point, brought on exclusively by the fact that MGM got the rights back to use the SPECTRE name. The movie pretty much blows up everything the earlier movies set up. QUANTUM was a vastly more interesting and modern organisation: terrorists by way of bankrolling evil stuff in the world and slowly eking out political power and gains. It was subtle and fun and exciting. SPECTRE is a cartoon in comparison, a ludicrous affair with no tangible relation to the current world. All I kept thinking was: how did Blofeld convince a legion of white IT specialists to relocate to Africa and also train in martial arts to stop the single infiltrator they'll ever get? 'C'mon, the evil life's for you!' You've really done it when I start questioning the believability of a

James Bond movie. I'm inclined not even to consider SPECTRE canon, if only to preserve the genuine sense of excitement and threat in the first three films, all of which, including Quantum of Solace, are good to excellent action/spy movies.

They did such a good job building Quantum up in Casino, its a shame to see them fumble SPECTRE so badly

  11. I have been playing around with streaming a bit. Hopefully my next apartment will have better internet and I can do it more. For now I set up Hearts of Iron 4 games and run them while at work. I have previously done things like have every nation declare war on each other or had every nation have one of each ideological advisor leading to tons of civil wars. I want to stream Astroneer and after I get a webcam some VR games if my CPU can handle it.

  12. There was a K-pop video I saw once in Korea and could never find again. The story line was all about a guy who took really good care of his girlfriend, helped here do everything including her makeup and really loved her. Halfway through the song it was revealed that she was a corpse and it replayed most of the previous scenes with her as a dead body. It was so much weirder and darker than any other K-pop I had ever seen.

  13. I work for a company that develops those 5 question authentication systems. We gather every bit of public records data we can, from the DMV, address book type info etc, then do a lot of work to link all that information together. I've never heard of the 'associated with' question. Have Chris and Nick ever lived together or signed a legal document together? If so thats how we connected them. Assuming it was us we don't use social media because that is not public data.

Also wow the Idle Thumbs ARG is back in full force at 24:29

...only one from blood money? and there's one from absolution on that list?...

edit: two from blood money, but still too few.

I agree, I did like all the missions listed though, that one from absolution was one of the only open map missions in the whole game. Reminds me a bit of colorado.

I think murder of crows is my favorite Hitman level of all time. There is a timed objective, you coundn't just find you targets easily on the map and dressing up as one target made the other one instantly attack you. Also was just a cool crowded level.

  15. 1. Hitman (Its a return to form for one of my favorite game series and it has shown how the episodic format can be done well, can't wait for season 2)

    2. Hearts of Iron 4 (How will World War 2 turn out if I play country X and do Y, repeat for ~300 hours since July)

    3. Astroneer (A great cute chill out game, perfect way to end the year, can't wait to see how it develops and grows)
