  1. wrong thread

I was the pope once, long ago.
  2. Just Cause 3

Looks like there isn't a thread for this upcoming masterpiece yet. Just cause 2 was such a pretty, over the top action movie simulation. I am so excited to do it all again on a new island.
  3. Just Cause 3

First DLC has a trailer, looks pretty nuts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sEUrJSWOQg
  4. General Video Game Deals Thread

Just wanted to let people know we set up a slack channel to make giving away games easier: https://idlethumbsreaders.slack.com/messages/giveaways/ There are pinned items with steam, uplay and humble codes. There are over 41 games up there right now so get on it
  5. XCOM 2

I hope they don't do that. It was a cool way to create a new storyline, but would seem gimmicky if they keep doing it.
  6. Episode 343: XCOM 2

They do the same stuff on commander. I feel like the enemy AI makes choices that make the game hard, but not insane. There are just lots of times where they could have done so much more damage with mind control than zombies.
  7. Fallout 4 — Boston Makes Me Feel Good

DLC has been detailed. Automatron: Quote “The mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons like the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices!” Wasteland Workshop: “With the Wasteland Workshop, design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws! Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers. The Wasteland Workshop also includes a suite of new design options for your settlements like nixi tube lighting, letter kits, taxidermy and more!” Far Harbor: “A new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost? Far Harbor features the largest landmass for an add-on that we’ve ever created, filled with new faction quests, settlements, lethal creatures and dungeons. Become more powerful with new, higher-level armor and weapons. The choices are all yours.” Wasteland workshop sounds pretty uninspiring, but the other two should be fun. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/02/16/fallout-4-dlc/
  8. Just reached my favorite Star Trek episode during my latest DS9 rewatch. In the Pale Moonlight is just so good!
  9. Episode 343: XCOM 2

If you get one to max level Reaper is amazing. As long as the first attack is a kill it will trigger implacable. I had a fully speced blademaster ranger kill three enemies in a turn. however I think I still prefer snipers with serial since they can stay at range.

So did you not cook them at all? You could try doing this step from one of the recipes I use to cook them a bit: "Preheat oven to 350F. Clean and prep bell peppers either by taking off the top or by halving them lengthwise. Place in baking dish with about 1/2 inch of water. Roast in oven until slightly wrinkly (~15 minutes or so). Once a little wrinkly, remove from oven and drain any water that may have accumulated in the peppers and the water from the pan." https://food52.com/recipes/15233-stuffed-peppers-with-wild-rice-italian-sausage-caramelized-fennel
  11. XCOM 2

Capslock definitely works, also Stop Wasting my Time is a great mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=620600092&searchtext=time I just got a continent bonus that allows installing a 3rd mod on guns, which is amazingly powerful.
  12. Episode 343: XCOM 2

AAA games should not lack this much polish at launch. I feel like most of the criticism was for the strategic layer, which still is the weaker portion of the game. I am still enjoying the missions, especially since I installed the "Stop Wasting My Time" mod. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=620600092&searchtext=time
  13. Feminism

“I said it before and I’ll say it again: I was there for Bernie, not for the boys,” she said. “It is too bad that feminism hasn’t progressed to the extent that women can support other women not based on gender or race, but because of ideas.... I think if you are a public figure, you have a responsibility to say something for a cause you truly believe in and help it on its course,” she said. “It’s incredibly frustrating that society somehow feels that women can’t manage to be political, feminist and a sex symbol.” - Emily Ratajkowski Not sure I can remember a model being this political, but its really cool that she is willing to use her position of pop culture fame to say something important. You go girl! http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/14/fashion/fashion-week-emily-ratajkowski-bernie-sanders.html
  14. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Made these tonight: https://food52.com/recipes/30773-vegan-stuffed-peppers Aside from the spicing being a little mild they are very good and filling. Might add a goat cheese topping next time as well, a different recipe I like uses it.
  15. XCOM 2

Multiplayer is not well done. Tried with one Thumb and wasn't able to play. Tried with a friend and had some serious lag time between him moving and me seeing it and vise versa. Its a cool concept, being able to mix alien and xcom units creates some really fun tactics. I hope someone mods the ability to train aliens into the campaign, would love to play single player with just Stun Lancers. Payback!
  16. Firaxis' XCOM Enemy Unknown

Most of the activity I see in the Strategy forum is from users that are active in the general games and idle banter sections.
  17. Life

Ug that is awful. In kindergarten I did the opposite to my best friend, told him there was no tooth fairy, no Santa, no Easter Bunny and no God. His mom was not happy.
  18. XCOM 2

I feel like I would hit that by mistake. There is also one to extract all. I found that extract is always bound to 3 and you can tab through your soldiers so you only have to watch one animation.
  19. I was talking with some comp sci friends about this topic tonight and asked the one question I still had. Why did none of the articles mention practical applications of this? Apparently all the tech used already existed and was already in use in other deep learning applications. Maybe that is why I found this development underwhelming, it isn't a technical advance, its using per-existing tech in a new way to solve a very specific problem.
  20. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

I am glad the cuts let me skip hiking back to my tower over and over, that could get really dull.
  21. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

I don't know if it was intentional, but having the characters start to build up a complex conspiracy then to have the real answer be more mundane is a great way to create players who will build their own wild theories about what happens. Which is pretty much how conspiracy theories happen in real life.
  22. XCOM 2

I wonder how hard it would be to bring all the classes and enemies from the first game into this one? Would love to fight new and old sectoids at the same time.
  23. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

As soon as you find Brian's backpack and find out his dad and he vanished I started assuming they were dead. Then when I found out he had PTSD I assumed he was the one fucking with stuff, until the transcripts show up. I am kind of glad I was on the right track in terms of who done it, but Ned's attempts at miss-direction totally worked on me. Edit: Also holy shit that intro. Did not expect to have so many feels right away, but they kind of smack you in the face with dementia. I do like that my assumptions about Henry running from a divorce were wrong. Edit Edit: Did we ever learn what Henry's job was before being a firewatcher? Because I was annoyed at him being a dick about moving for her career.
  24. XCOM 2

I have really been liking the procedural map generation. I am pretty sure I have played the same base map twice, but enough pieces were in different places that the map played differently. Really speaks to replayability.
  25. How Xcom 1 is explained in Xcom 2, minor spoilers:
