  1. I love that each kind of interaction is something I can link to sci fi. Also I can see conflicting feelings arising. In general I think I would passive observe until I was sure the species was safe to uplift. But if the species isn't safe to uplift do you covertly infiltrate to try and guide them on a better path or leave them to their own devices?
  2. Automation: Where did all the jobs go?!

Some of that is related to the US having a screwy tax structure and the attacks that have weakened social program funding.
  3. Automation: Where did all the jobs go?!

One of the reasons I am trying to switch teams at work is that it would be fairly trivial to automate 90% of my current job. The team could be reduced from 4 to 1 with a little effort.
  4. The Big VR Thread

Vive preorders are open and I just finished putting mine in. Excited and a little self hating for spending the money. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/02/29/htc-vive-pre-orders-open/
  5. Black Lives Matter

"A teenage boy has allegedly been shot by police while holding a broomstick in Salt Lake City, sparking angry protests." The police may have been wearing body cams, I am interested to see how body cams will effect this stuff. Sure hope the footage doesn't get 'lost'. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/salt-lake-city-shooting-teenage-boy-holding-broomstick-shot-by-police-sparking-angry-protests-a6901086.html
  6. Cows in Space! A MoO thread

With Stellaris on the horizon I am not sure I will be buying another space 4x game. I do have a lot of love for MoO 2.
  7. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

    Looks super good
  8. wrong thread

A podcast I listen to told me to share it in my forum community so here we go: It's called Bored Fingers and its about a totally not confused person named Nick Bredon who totally understands the video game plots he is talking about because he doesn't skip a single cut scene. It can be found at sleepyapendages.net
  9. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Making it in a cast iron pan really makes the crust easier I think. Give the recipe I posted a try, it was really easy. (I let the dough rest for ~24 hours and skipped the 2 hour waiting for it to spread and just spread it myself. Turned out just fine.)
  10. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

    Derp double post
  11. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

Pizza turned out super well. I don't think I would change a thing!
  12. Frontline documentaries

They are also available in podcast form which I really like.
  13. What's for Breakfast?

You can actually get away with using a blender or immersion blender to make smoothies. Those machines are mostly a waste of space and money.
  14. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

I have never made cheese before, something I will have to try some day. Good looking pizza BTW
  15. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

The new cooking challenge/goal/topic/whatever is PIZZA! Idealy I want people making it all from scratch, so make your own dough and sauce. But if you dont feel up to it just make as much as you are comfortable with. I am going to be using this cast iron pan pizza recipe: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/01/foolproof-pan-pizza-recipe.html And this one for sauce: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2010/10/new-york-style-pizza-sauce.html Topping plans are currently Mozzarella, Basil and some tomato pieces. I will be making the dough and sauce tonight then cooking the pie tomorrow. Good night and good luck. P.S. Calzones are acceptable. As are homemade bagel bites. https://food52.com/blog/11242-pizza-bagels-are-back-for-lunch
  16. What's for Breakfast?

Make it omelette style for better structural integrity. Today I had toast with cream cheese and darjeeling tea.
  17. The Happy Thread

I got my Annual Evaluation back yesterday and my manger said I exceeded expectations in almost every area. I also finally have interviews set up for a position on a different team I applied to weeks ago. There is light at the end of the boring job tunnel!
  18. XCOM 2

http://xcom.wikia.com/wiki/Psi_Operative_%28XCOM_2%29 "The success of psi attacks is only affected by the operative's Psi stat - which is increased by using upgraded Psi Amps - and not Will. Will is only a factor when defending against psi attacks, and improving Will (such as through a Personal Combat Sim) will not increase the operative's Psi rating. In short: Psi = Offense, Will = Defense."
  19. The Big VR Thread

Vive launches on April 1 and will cost $799. Looks like I will be waiting on VR for a while. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/02/reports-799-steamvr-powered-htc-vive-to-start-shipping-april-1/
  20. What's for Breakfast?

I reheated some more of the everything bagel spiced scones that I made last week. Still super tasty. Tomorrow I am making shakshuka.
  21. ENT was technically set before Starfleet existed. It was also not great.
