A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes

I am taking it upon myself to introduce a friend to Star Trek. I want her to see at least some of TOS so I have been working on a skip/watch list. Here are the episodes I think are worth watching, looking for thoughts and more recommendations. Episode - Reason its worth watching. The Naked Time - fun episode, gets referenced in TNG. Arena - Kirk vs. Gorn Space Seed - Khan A Taste of Armageddon - Conflict a society that is set in their ways for insane reasons The City on the Edge of Forever - Interesting plot relating to messing with timelines Mirror Mirror - First of the mirror universe episodes and possibly the best one I, Mudd - Has possibly the best Spock line in TOS "Logic is a little tweeting bird chirping in a meadow. Logic is a wreath of pretty flowers which smell bad. Are you sure your circuits are registering correctly? Your ears are green. " The Trouble With Tribbles - required, gets referenced in great DS9 episode By Any Other Name - a very silly episode -
I am currently working towards a $15 minimum wage ballot initiative in Minneapolis. It would give ~38% of workers in Minneapolis a raise and constitute an annual transfer of wealth to low wage workers of $900 million. It is kind of amazing how such a simple change can have such vast effects on so many peoples lives.

Here are two guides with some ingredient ideas: https://food52.com/blog/9793-ramen-the-ultimate-broke-food-and-how-to-make-it-at-home http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2014/10/quick-kimchi-ramen-shiitake-mushroom-egg-recipe.html if you are only making one bowl I highly recommend poaching an egg in the ramen. I did this all the time in Korea it is super good! Other ingredient ideas: Rice cakes and/or pot stickers/dumplings. -
One of my main reasons for wanting to do this is that everything you build looks so destroyed, I want to build nice things.

I have a friend who works for Zendesk the company Uber tried to blame, apparently there were some awkward conversations between them and Uber afterwards.

I mostly just wanted to make a joke about depriving Donald Trump of the ability to make sound waves.

The inevitable happened: AI can now play Go

It's pretty easy to beat the super bowl with international distribution, still cool that so many people care. I had heard its going to be five games, but is it best of five or will the human actually have to lose five times? -
It has already become one and I think that is fine. Its hard to talk about the Donald in a vacuum, even if that is where he belongs.

i want to try and make an empty vault that you can settle. Probably going to use vault 81 as a template

We also have special forces troops on the ground, but I guess they don't count...

Soon humans will never again win a board game.

Yeah that is something that has always bugged me about the primaries. People whose votes straight up don't count in the general (Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico) and people whose votes don't count thanks to the electoral college (those in red states) get a lot of power to decide a candidate they can do nothing to elect. I do think the solution to this is ditching the electoral college, not dropping the south from democratic primaries.

Carrots and hummus. I am trying to eat less carbohydrates and breakfast seems like the best meal to try and cut back. Figuring out how to eat less bread for breakfast is going to be tricky.

If voting was mandatory it seems like you could just mail everyone an absentee ballot and forgo voting stations all together.

pepper juice oil? Looks tasty! -
As horrible as Trump and Cruz's foreign policy sounds, there is still the underlying problem that no candidate in the campaign is asking questions like: Why is drone assassination and the associated collateral damage ok? What is our end game with the drone assassination program? Why are we still supporting so many dictatorships? Could we save money by instead of buying bombs, building schools in nations we worry about? All the candidates seem unable to challenge the Cold War thinking that dominates our current foreign policy. No matter who is elected within their first week and drone will kill a civilian and our new president will be a war criminal.

I watched the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon sequel that Netflix made last night. It was not very good. The writing was bad, the action scenes were far too busy, the story was predictable, the soundtrack was overbearing. It was also in English which bothered me more than it should. If you are a fan of the first one, just watch the first one again or Hero or pretty much anything else.

True, but a world requiring mincome is also a world where current political parties are going to be very different. Issues will change driving parties to change as well.
