  1. I don't see how smash will be playable on a tiny little screen. But damn I want it. MUST. RESIST.
  2. Destiny

Oh! The public events. Gotcha: just never heard them called daily events before.
  3. Destiny

What do you mean by first daily event? I usually do heroic, the crucible and I've done the strike once or twice. I've only got one coin.
  4. Destiny

Did you see the weekend vendor? He sells Legendaries for strange coins. I have 1 strange coin and no idea where I got it from. I wonder if they're farmable.
  5. Destiny

I'm using a Scout Rifle at the moment and I don't really like it. It's basically a longer ranged, but weaker hand cannon. Seems like the hand cannon fills the niche of high impact, low RoF much better. I'm going to try farming for an auto rifle some point this week. Gotta hit those dailies though. Generally get something from them.

I've come to the realisation that false equivalency isn't a proper fallacy. Whether something is similar enough for comparison is really subjective.
  7. Destiny

I've been really unlucky and have never actually found an auto rifle. They just never drop for me, and all I seem to die to in PvP is auto rifles and shotguns. Really want one! I've recently switched back to Striker spec. It's rather different. I'm always low on HP compared to Defender where if I'm not with a bonus shield I'm doing something wrong. The super is fun when soloing though.

Yeah, I never said they're good ideas, just the spite that London might have over losing the gas revenue, and losing a nuclear submarine station.
  9. Destiny

Ha, the fusion gun has replaced my shotgun. I really like it for PVE, hits like a train without having to get as close as the shotgun (also the only shot gun I have has a full auto "upgrade" which makes it impossible to aim. I don't actually know how to get the rep gain items. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmMaZEIV8hI'>If you like farming this is pretty cool.

The most dangerous part of Scotland leaving is their estimation of good will from London. I'm no pro- or anti-unionist, but believing London won't just give Scotland a giant "FUCK YOU" when they leave is a bit naive. The two major ones: "FUCK YOU, you can't keep the pound, it's ours." "FUCK YOU, we're voting no for entry into the EU" (Importantly, London could probably get a no vote from Spain here too over Spanish concern of the Catalan region following in Scotland's footsteps. I believe 2 No votes denies entry, but I may be mistaken.)
  11. Destiny

I tried it last night. It was...OK. I found it quite hard to aim, which I think could be easily fixed with gyroscopic aiming, or as you said; an automatic drop in sensitivity upon remote play. As you said, it's fine for patrol, but anything more difficult than that would be impossible. It's fine, but I wouldn't want to do it for long periods of time.

I don't read any YA fiction, if I read I want to choose the best, most thought-provoking book I can find, but that's because I don't read a lot. Maybe 3 books a year. I get my escapism from video games. I'm not old enough to be constantly considering my own demise, but I am old enough to pursue progression, but you can't be getting better at things without occasionally vacating all the thoughts from your head. I've always thought of wasting time as never a waste if it helps recharge and de-stress you. That is progression towards something, and what I was talking about when I said immaturity and maturity aren't mutually exclusive.
  13. Recently completed video games

Man I always forget about TIE fighter. I still prefer KOTOR, but that's probably because I prefer RPGs in general.
  14. Recently completed video games

Oooh, you're in for a treat. Easily the best Star Wars game, and a pretty darn good RPG to boot. Hasn't aged particularly well though.
  15. Feminism

Put me in the "revelling in immaturity" camp. I am unashamedly immature because contrary to what the author feels, immaturity and maturity aren't mutually exclusive. The Slate YA article also seems to be under the same impression that one cannot read things aimed at children, but also love things meant for adults. That whole premise I find ridiculous, it's like people are one dimensional and only like one kind of thing. The idea that escapism is a bad thing irked me too, but that didn't seem to be her central theme. Not really the thread for this, but the article was interesting, despite my disagreement with the author. Rather ironically, the Slate YA article has links to buy YA fiction books on amazon. Made me chuckle.
  16. Destiny

I'm warming to the PvP. It feels a bit too CoD for my liking, but control is really fun. When you find a choke point and lock it down, you can single handedly win the game for the team. Any weapon or ult that can help with area control is fantastic. Plus there are some really good gear drops in PvP. After Titanfall, the game play feels super slow though, it's taking time to get used to.
  17. Destiny

Interesting find: If you attain the ability to switch class spec on one character, it's then available for all as soon as you create them.
  18. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

People tend to react badly if you note what fallacy they're using. If you say "that's not really relevant" you're more likely to enhance the debate, than if you say "nice straw man argument." I think fallacies are important when questioning someone's logic. It's not a "ha-ha I've won the argument" button, it's a tool for dissecting out why someone thinks the way they think. If you spot that someone's logic doesn't follow, then you can ask them questions that pertain to the logic junction.
  19. Nintendo 3DS

Why does this exist? If someone wants a 3ds now, they're far better of waiting for the "new" 3ds.
  20. Destiny

You pretty much described how I feel, except instead of playing FPSs, I play RPGs and have always felt the RPG as comfort food. How is the remote play on Vita? I've not tried it yet, but I'm hoping it's good.
  21. Life

I learned pretty quickly to never trust someone called "Dave" and especially don't trust information relayed from a "Dave's mum". Dave is such a shady name.
  22. Feminism

My university holds a monthly women in science wikipedia edit-athon. I think that's a cool idea and I'd love to get involved, but I'm sure I'd feel a little out of place (not to mention I don't know enough about women in science).
  23. I Had A Random Thought...

I saw Google Glass in my local CEX (basically an electronics/media pawn shop for those not in the UK). A pretty large part of me wants to buy it just to try it out. It's way out of my price range, especially after just buying a PS4. Curiosity has really grabbed me though. If this shit if the future I want in on the ground floor.
  24. Destiny

I think the reason I'm so happy with Destiny while others aren't is because to me it feels like a step towards perfection of the Boarderlands games. The gun play is better, there are no dumb jokes or annoying characters, there are no useless guns, the environments are art are beautiful, and it embraces the coop feel, rather than fighting against it. There are things where sometimes I think "why not just copy WoW?" I play as a Defender Titan, and my class ability is a shield bubble I can throw on the ground. What would be really useful is for there to be party health bars at the side of the screen. I'd know who to jump on and throw the bubble over. Obviously on voice chat people call out when they're dying, but not normally until it's too late. I'm sure health bars would be useful for everyone, just to see who's getting hurt, not just for the Defender ult. I also snagged an issue in PvP. I was rocking a low level blue hand cannon for a long time because the stats on it were decent, and it had a huge clip. I hit level 20 and upgraded to a green hand cannon with almost double the damage. While in PvP the low level blue was able to kill people with 2 head shots. Which was pretty good and seemed balanced - if I panicked and missed or got a body shot I'd go down, but 2 head shots was possible while keeping my cool. However the green upgrade needed 2 head shots +1 body or head shot to kill. So 3 hits. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it makes all the difference in PvP. I guess for its level the green weapon had slightly lower damage than the blue for its level, so when everything is standardised, the low level blue was significantly stronger. Does that make sense? It means that a PvE upgrade might not be an upgrade in PvP and can make a huge difference to your efficacy at killin'. Edit: Pro-tip. Set your fire team to public if you're playing alone.
  25. I wonder how much that was impacted by both Titanfall and Dead Rising being on PC. I know Japan isn't big on PC gaming, but neither are they big on console or Microsoft. I'm sure those really interested in the Xbone games would have grabbed them on PC.
