  1. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Emergent narrative and NPC personality. Pretty much the only things that makes me enjoy this game. I loathe AC games, never played Batman, but those Orcs, holy shit they're good. Their faces and emotions, their personality are just great. The game itself is super bland, but that nemesis system makes it.
  2. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I liked ZombiU, it's deeper than you think, you just have to have a little patience. MK8 is probably my game of the year. I still play it online regularly (once every couple of days), and always have a blast. It's also the only game my girlfriend will regularly enjoy, and we've racked up far too many hours playing it.
  3. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I've had a few guys come back with metal plates covering one half of their head. Was pretty cool to see that!
  4. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Oh god, I hated it (I refuse to use the pronoun "her" for a robot). Ship A.I. comes out looking like a stripper. Didn't it even have high heels?! If EDI was a floating shoulder robot like PSO, I'd have been content. If EDI was a giant battle droid, with a ton of machine guns and missiles, I'd have been happy.
  5. Nintendo 3DS

Mine too, I just don't think that's long enough.
  6. Nintendo 3DS

I wish I could do that. The battery life on a 3DS XL is just awful. I don't get how it uses so much battery when idling.
  7. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Picked this up today, and I've got to say the "nemesis system" is super cool. It's turned something that I'd probably not enjoy into something new and wonderful. I've ran away from one captain multiple times because he always manages to catch me with my pants down. He's not ashamed to tell me how much of a coward I am either. Really can't wait to kill him! I've also been on a rampage on a caragor, taking out tons of orcs and a couple of captains, until one captain slaughtered my mount while it was eating him. The combat is pretty fun. I've never played a batman game, but it feels more involved than the awful assassins creed type where you wait, wait....wait, counter, kill. Then go back to waiting... The multi button moves are a bit hit and miss, sometimes I find it just doesn't work. Plus the auto target can be frustrating at times, but overall it's an enjoyable way to experience the new enemy system. I'd really love to see the nemesis system worked into something like alpha protocol. I feel like that's where it'd be at home. And if it is this generations cover mechanic, I'm happy with that!
  8. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Kinda agree. A lot of people talk about them as though they're the greatest things out there, but personally, I've not enjoyed a single DF game. It's a shame because they have some good ideas, I just don't find them engaging at all.
  9. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Woo! Held off buying it on Steam because it's such a "Nintendo" game. Hope it's worth the wait. Hnnnng. Looks good, super excited for that too. I end up playing my WiiU so much simply because my girlfriend is watching Netflix on my playstation. The perfect off-screen play is so under-rated. Especially compared to the vita remote play which is pretty weak.

Join us. You won't regret it. It's pretty cool, the WiiU has more games to play than either of the other two consoles right now. Loads of them are utterly brilliant too. But, I seem to have stopped complaining about this: WHERE THE FUCK IS SHOVEL KNIGHT IN THE UK? Just let me buy your damn cool lookin' game Yacht Club!
  11. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

No, but the things like Witch time and hand/foot combos are flavour that make the game better, while still following a similar formula. I'm super excited for Bayo since I never even knew about the first one. So I'll have both of the fantastic platinum games soon!
  12. Destiny

I grouped up with a guy for the weekly last night using Desintylfg.net What an experience. He managed to cheese every encounter using some boring exploit that meant me and the other party member were dead most of the time for trying to play the game as intended. It was basically me watching him take out enemies really slowly one by one on his own, hiding under/on/behind something that meant he couldn't get hit. BOOORRRIIIINNNGG

Wonderful 101? Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance? All Platinum games are very similar in how they play, which is certainly not a criticism (sort of like saying how every orgasm is similar), but I have to disagree with this point. I agree, but are games like Bayonetta and Dragon's Crown identical in execution? In Bayonetta you play as a strong female who uses her sexuality to distract, dominate and derogate her enemies. The "fan service" of bouncing ass and tits is generally in context like it is in a campy British movie such as Carry On X. Dragon's Crown on the other hand has you fight over scantily clad maidens to be used as pretty much objects. The female characters (and male) are pretty much devoid of personality, making their overt sexualistion seem out of place. My only dislike for Bayonetta and the Platinum formula is the award system at the end of each section. You're involved in this epic event only for a shit player like me to be given a stone/consolation prize. Kinda puts a downer on it.
  14. Destiny

I'm starting to think I'm done with Destiny. I've logged on 4 days this week, and immediately logged out since none of my friends list was there to team up for a weekly or nightfall and certainly not enough to organise a raid. It sucks because I really enjoy the game, but it's dying for me because of a severe lack of social features.
  15. Destiny

Dinner plans on Saturday. Don't worry about fitting me in, it'll be a pain with my current schedule.
  16. Destiny

I'd love to but it's probably going to be a poor time for me. I'm working shitfs as well right now which makes it worse. Unless you're playing between 7-8am GMT or 7-9pm GMT I probably can't join.

I remember literally crying with laughter seeing Luigi do that in melee. Props to nintendo for choosing the best Luigi pose.
  18. Destiny

That's basically what deserter debuff was/is. I'm 27 at the moment, aiming for 28 by the end of the weekend. I'd totally be up for a raid, also any nightfall strikes if people are doing them.
  19. Destiny

    Deserter debuff ala WoW. Sorted.
  20. PL4YST4TION 4

Is there a way to view saved clips without signing into facebook? I don't have facebook, but I want to see/edit/upload my saved clips! It seems to just stop at the "Sign into the ubiquitous social media site" part before I can use the thing I paid for.
  21. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Ah ok, that sounds more reasonable, the way it was presented in the video was so matter-of-fact that I thought it was stupid easy to do.
  22. Feminism

I've not posted here in a while (yay work) but this new stuff about consent I find profoundly disturbing. The idea that someone is effectively taking sex confuses me, it's not something you do to someone, it's something you do with someone. I find the whole yes/no weird and repulsive because it's so fucking obvious when someone wants to have sex with you (or not). I just don't see how it could come to needing an affirmative statement or answer for a sexual encounter to not be rape, because an affirmative statement or answer has happened in literally every sexual encounter I've had.
  23. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Not played yet, but I have a quick question: I saw the video of the guy who mind controlled 25 or so captains then killed them all at once. Is that easy to do? It seems kinda over powered if you can just mind control enemies and kill them instantly.
  24. Destiny

How are those at 27/28 feeling about Destiny right now? Seen a lot of people complaining that there's only about 3-6 hours content per week at that level range. Personally, I think that's pretty cool, it means I won't feel obligated to playing and grinding out rep/marks/mats (erugh mats are the worst). Kinda looking forward to it as a part-time game, that I play for specific weekly things, which will let me play other games too. Since right now it's eating up my gaming time share. On the topic of Xur, I read somewhere that the items he sells are slightly weaker than the same versions you get from random drops. Don't know if anyone has any data, but it'd be cool to check. If anyone has Helm of the Saint -14 they bought from Xur I could compare it to the one I got from a random drop.
  25. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I really like Hyrule Warriors, but I don't know why. I'm not very far (Destiny is still occupying most of my gaming time) but it's enjoyable.
