Are there any white people protesting there? When I followed the vine rabbit hole about this it seems to be a bunch of black people, rightly pissed off, and a bunch of white people saying "you have a right to protest, but don't because it upsets me." Personally, I wouldn't protest, because I wouldn't want to be shot and killed for it, but that's the exact reason everyone white and black should be protesting.
  2. Whelp, I might actually get this. Fingers crossed for a DeS, DS remake too. If the PS4 had the suspend/resume feature like the Xbox, I think I'd never stop playing the souls series.
  3. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Fighting dragons is amazing. I got my ass handed to me, but taking one down to 1/3 HP was so much fun. I've also come across new specs for my inqisitor. Reaver is pretty fun! I went ahead and put pretty much all my points into it and it's a totally different play style. Ironically I was having issues with my warrior taking too much damage, but now, things tend to die before I'm even at 1/2 HP. Fortunately there's a spammable move that damages you, and a high-stamina move that heals, so you can control you HP which is nice - I like having to manage more than one resource.
  4. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

So, what happens after you beat Is that the end? Or is there another super special thing I don't know about?
  5. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

So apparently there is! Clicking R3 locks onto an enemy (which I didn't know was possible), and displays their armour and level. Never really needed the lock on though since aiming the camera at an enemy directs your attacks towards them.
  6. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Didn't know that! I generally only play in 30-60 min chunks so I've not had time to grasp all the smaller systems yet. I should go to the apothecary again... There isn't an obvious way to display levels, but when an enemy has a red skull, it means they're out of your level range. I came across a group of 3 demons of which one had a skull. I took him down with coordination, but he was able to two-shot my characters. It was cool to do that, however, when I tried to fight a group of 3 "skull level"...I think dwarf rogues? They tore me to shreds. I had to just run away. It'd be interesting to make an archer rogue and try kiting them, but I'll save that for another play-through.

I save the regen potions for my character, he seems to be the only one who has the option. I feel like having 2 ranged and 2 melee characters is the way to go. 3 melee just feels crowded if you're trying to focus one enemy down at a time, and wasteful if you send one off to attack another. 3 ranged makes it too hard to keep aggro on one tough tank. Pretty happy with my choice of a 2-handed warrior, but he feels a little squishy. Might just be because he's always the first into battle.
  8. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Good read, thanks. Made me consider what I said in a meeting yesterday. The worst part is, saying "I don't know" in certain settings is completely frowned upon. If my boss asks me why, saying "I don't know, I'll have to do some reading or an assay" makes him pretty angry. Coming up with some incredible bullshit calms him down and lets me fix the not knowing.
  9. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

I do find some of the quests to be just filler. No, I'm not going to collect 5 shards of mystery. I will however go help this random elf find her husband's ring, or clear out some bandits that are harassing people. I'm still having fun, I thought I'd exhaust the Hinterlands, but some of the enemies there are too high level for me to deal with, so I went off and did some story stuff. The story stuff is pretty cool. Bosses require me to use tactical cam. I like it!
  10. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I've realised I quit Dark Souls 2 without meaning to. I don't even have a good reason why, I just lost interest after a while. It's a decent game, but I think I have two main issues with it. 1) I played it only a few months after beating Dark Souls (twice). I'd kinda had my fill of what is a better game. 2) How do you recapture the experience of Dark Souls? I loved it so much because I was experiencing a new world, a new game and it felt great. You can't do that twice. Made even harder by the design choices in 2 (returning to the "nexus" a la DeS, and less interesting environments - well that's not really a choice). So DS2 kinda flopped for me, not like the internet outrage "It's terrible! I'm angry now!" It just sort of faded from my interests, unlike DS1 which had me thinking about it 24/7.
  11. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I was trying to think of what the best moments/entire games have the best "non-direct narrative" (i.e. no walls of text or cinematic cut scenes). The initial games that came to mind were Far Cry 2, Super Metroid and Shadow of Mordor (only because I played it so recently). What are the bests out there?
  12. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

I've been playing on normal, and it fits action game well, but I fear if I turned up the difficulty I'd have trouble without issuing commands individually. The problem I find with the action cam is that it's so slow to issue commands. It doesn't let you queue things up other than move->use ability. I've not played around with the "tactics" for each individual, which I guess will be most useful for mages (I hate it when the mage blows their load on a single enemy when there are 3 guys stacked up somewhere else). Didn't check for an "if this, then that" part for setting up synergies, but I doubt it's there; it'd be too useful (and complicated).
  13. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Are you playing on PC? On PS4 there is no fade-to-black, it just instantly goes to a birds-eye view, which you can then move to a 3rd person, behind the back view by waggling around on the analogue stick. Personally, I think that reaction is a little bit of whining, mixed with a valid criticism. It's not as good as origins, but it's decent. With easy battles I play like an action game, maybe throwing out an order with the tactical cam before letting the combat flow. In tough fights I spend the whole time in tactical, advancing time and giving orders/moving people out of the way of things. Example: in the first boss fight, he has a pretty powerful frontal cone AoE attack. I spent the whole time in tactical cam to make sure my mage and ranged rogue were standing at a decent distance, whilst also making sure my 2-handed warrior was smacking the boss in the backside. Felt competent, if not a little bit slow.
  14. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Woo! I beat Mom last night. I happened to constantly get damage + upgrades and nothing else. Was one shotting most enemies, and bosses died before they got chance to attack. My partner has gotten pretty good at it! She made it to necropolis which I thought was impressive. I think it is because the mechanics are so simple and the art style is so...different. It's cool though, she claims to both love and hate it, which kinda sums up every rogue-like I've ever played.
  15. Idle Workouts

I'm having a pretty shitty week on the exercise front. It's only Tuesday and I manage to 1) Pull a muscle in my back, and 2) Burst (yes burst, not puncture) a tyre on my bike. Winter is my favourite time of the year, I normally do a load of exercise since the gym is warm and comforting, and eat what I want because it's christmas.
  16. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Played this before work today (decided to skip the gym since I injured my back). So far I'm liking it, the writing seems...decent! Only had one eye-roll moment so far from a cheesy line. Apparently it's about 90 hours (ish) long if you delve into some side quests, so I foresee this taking up my game time until next year!
  17. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

That's cool! I'll try that out. In other news, I got a text from my video game hating partner asking if she can "play the baby game" which I assumed meant Binding of Isaac, since last night she watched me do a (mediocre) run. She was pretty enthralled by it and was interested in how the game doesn't explain the items you pick up. It's interesting that she's taken notice of BoI since the only other games she's paid attention to are more "casual" stuff like Mario Kart and Peggle.
  18. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

THe cards and pills kinda annoy me. The only way to know what they do is to use them. I don't really want to look up a wiki each time I get a new one.
  19. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

I got cursed tears in one run, and I think the other was like infected lungs or something. Both ruined my runs because I couldn't hit fast moving enemies. I think I was in necropolis? It's the one with the skull or face or whatever on the progression map.
  20. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I'll second what tegan said, I've charged it twice in about 6 months. Even while using it as a PC controller.
  21. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

I got this free with PS+ and I'm totally hooked. It's super fun, but as with most rogue-likes, I fucking suck at it. I've got to the final boss door once (well, what I assume is the final boss), was about to walk through, decided to go check if there were any hearts lying around in other rooms and managed to lose all my health to stupid things like spikes. I'm not sure I understand all the systems yet, and I'm having issues with any attack that requires charging up (it's impossible to aim with using a controller!). Like cursed, I seem to get it a lot, but I'm never sure how... Still, game's got me!
  22. Recently completed video games

I finished Steamworld Dig. It was a pretty good distraction whilst watching shitty TV, or laying in bed. I don't think I could have played it for more than 30 mins at a time, but I enjoyed it. Quite charming, nothing special though. Not really got anything else to say about it.
  23. Feminism

The immature jerk inside me finds that hilarious.
  24. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

That's shitty. I assume you can still get it direct from Nintendo though... Doesn't affect me since I'm EU.
  25. Mario Kart DLC download PARTY!

    I need and amiibo.
