The WiiU is weird. Since finishing Metroid Prime, I've not turned it on (other than to play some Fire Emblem). There's some fantastic games, but it seems to have huge periods of absolutely nothing. When games do come out, I play them almost obsessively. Basically May has the next game I'm interested in, but it looks like a GotY contender for me.

The reviews seem to say the same thing as you, that it's a good game, but doesn't live up to the first. I'm not particularly far but I've found it to be a lot more frustrating than HM1 (cut). In the original I could just basically run through everyone and kill them all without once stopping, if I did everything right. This so far has required me to stop, back away, wait for enemies to charge me which doesn't feel as insanely fun. It might just be because I don't know the levels well though.

Thanks, but I'll just wait it out until my wrist is fixed. Got enough to play at the moment, and Bloodborne will destroy my free time soon!
-
Yes, I did mean the Prime games. I've injured my wrist, and it makes using a wiimote impossible. I didn't know they never came with GC controller support for the original releases though.

I finished before getting 3 of the achievements/trophies. The collect all shards, solve all astranarium (or whatever) puzzles and upgrade potions. I keep getting the urge to go back and do it, but have to tell myself not to because it's so ridiculous. None of those activities are interesting in the slightest.

Sorry for not getting chance to play Helldivers with anyone this weekend - I was pretty busy. I got in a lot of games at weird times though, managed to rank up to level 13. The missions on difficulty 10/11 are just fantastic. They're so frantic, and you can't stand, kill and stabilise, it's all about constantly being on the move and only stabilising when you have to (e.g. at defend this point). It's a shame that the Matchmaking rarely has people doing missions over level 5. I want a APC. Those things are freaking cool. I've also come to the realisation that Helldivers is an amazing game when things are going badly, well, and good. However, as soon as you get someone in your party who is a liability, it turns un-fun.

Wii U Virtual Console Metroid Zero Mission €6.99 / £6.29 (looks like the UK is getting fucked in the ass over the price...again - the current exchange rate puts the price closer to £5 rather than £6). It's out some time this week on VC. It's a good one...right? I really want another Metroid game. On another topic: does any one know if it's possible to play the VC Wii games (specficially metroid games) using the GCN controller/adapter on WiiU, or are they locked to Wiimote?

I've been playing and I can't say that it feels like a stealth game. It's just moving from shooting gallery to shooting gallery with a cool theme. It's certainly not something that revolves around stealth, and to me that just feels like an after thought, as if they had a game where you move in 2D to reach a 3D shooting space, and decided to slap a halfassed stealth mechanic on it. It's an OK game, but it's an awful stealth game.

I came really close to buying this on release, but I found out that it's impossible to do a "ghost run" and not shoot everyone. Put me off, but now it's on PS+ so there's no reason to not give it a go. After I've fulfilled my almost insatiable desire to play HELLDIVERS

Docks are great if you're using the PS4 (or whatever) to watch Netflix. That ridiculous light rinses the battery even when the controller is just sat there. I could turn it off...but then I can't pause quickly if I need to.

Honestly, I think PS+ is a great system. It pays for itself many times over, and has given me games I fell in love with that I'd never even have looked at before (Binding of Isaac especially, between me and my partner, I bet we've put over 200 hours into that game, all for free!*). *I'd have PS+ because I want to play online, so yes, everything is technically free for me.
-
Yup, you do. They're pretty easy to find, I only had to look one up. Most of them I got by accident, just by traversing the islands with my new tools.

Played a bunch of helldivers and it is freaking good. I had 2 hours fly by without even knowing it. Those little emergent moments are just beautiful, and make it incredibly "cinematic" without it even trying. One highlight for me was three of us dropped the gatling gun turrets and dived on the floor as they opened up on a wave of bugs. Looked freaking badass. Another time there were 4 of us each taking a point on the compass and fighting off bugs in our implicitly assigned sections, then retreated into the shuttle. I'm still yet to find out which gun I like the most - I'm generally using the machine gun you get from a strategem along with a shotgun. Griddle_lol on psn it's also pretty OK on Vita. There's an aim assist which is so useful, and the frame rate doesn't drop like many people have said. Edit: Forgot to mention, but I love the achievements.

Very excited for OlliOlli2 and Valiant Hearts. Any one else picking up Helldivers? Looks really fun IMO. Oh, and 3 weeks until Bloodborne

I'm really liking Danganronpa, but damn, when it's not exciting, it puts me to sleep. All that reading...

I finished Persona 4 golden - to the "bad" ending. I generated separate save files, so I'm going to continue to the other ending(s), but I just wanted to share my thoughts on this ending. So yeah, I'm going to keep going though!

That bugged me too! I missed a bunch of stuff because I was frantically trying to kill things.

Man, I need to play some DMC games.

Hotline Miami 2 is out on March 10th. I'm listening to the soundtrack while doing data entry. It makes everything more surreal and badass.

What HD was that? I'm looking into getting a new HD for my PS4 also.

Please always point out when I say something sexist/transphobic/homophobic. I don't consider myself to be any of those things but I am, and this forum is a great place for me to learn about it which is why I keep coming back. I'm not well versed in the ideals and such, but I want to better myself in that way, so while people get angry at certain things I say, I always appreciate it when they tell me why. So yeah, on even more thought, disregard my previous post. You are 100% right Tegan, and I need to ruminate on why I have such a problem with a couple of dumb words.
-
You're probably right about that, although I'm sure if someone made it clear to me that it's what they preferred, I wouldn't be stubborn enough to actively choose other words. I wasn't intending to be hostile, but "ze" still sounds like someone pretending to be French. There are also perfectly serviceable words to use, which aren't over complicated or phrases. If there's already a single word for something, why replace it with something that sounds weird?
-
The only pasta dish I eat any more is carbonara. It's the king.
-
Basically my original point. I'd feel awkward saying "ze" and it'll never leave my mouth.

I recently posted in the completed games thread about Shantae, and had pretty much the exact opposite experience: It clicked instantly for me, while Shovel Knight felt like a slog I was forcing myself through because of the critical praise (hence why I quit). I also found the Shovel Knight platforming to be ridiculously difficult and timing based while Shantae's was pretty simple and intuitive. In fact there was only one platforming challenge I got frustrated with - it involved statues which only remained up for a set time. Horses for courses I guess.
