  1. What is Oh man the knives thing will be useful, especially poison knives for synergy. Although, I've been eschewing parries/visceral attacks in favour of using Ludwig's Holy (great) Sword; the move set on that is just divine. I'm not entirely sure if I prefer it to the hammer, but the charge attack is fantastic for enemies that are nicely stacked up in a line.

Cool! Looks nice except for the playable character who is weird. I don't know whether I should just wait for PS+ for this. It looks like a + candidate.
  3. Huh, I blew all my insight on armour sets and bells. Kinda wish I'd held onto it to see what happens. The same...except hard to work rather than sleep. Your point is pretty good, I disagree with the thumbs assessment that the setting is less good than the souls games because it's over-the-top crazy Victorian. The medieval fantasy setting was not scary. Ever. Moving through churches with a grey sky and seeing a beast's eyes in the distance creeps me the fuck out. I've had more moments in Bloodborne where I've shouted "OH FUCK!" as I've gone around a corner than in any Souls game. That's not because there are more jump scares, it's because I'm far more tense due to the environment and art design (and not holding up a shield constantly).
  4. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

For the first time I feel stuck. I crafted the tetsucabra set, and went to kill a dragon thing for the blacksmith. It wrecked me. I have no idea how to defend against its stuns, I have no way to upgrade my favourite weapon to try and out dps the monster either. Is there something I can do? Or do I just have to git gud?
  5. That sounds fantastic. Is that a good way to get upgrade mats? I'm struggling to upgrade more than one weapon.
  6. (Un)fortunately I saw the gif before the boss. All tension disappeared and I one shot that boss. She was actually pretty easy when you're laughing.
  7. You can allay your Bloodborne lust by constantly reading forums and thinking about what to do while at work. At least that's what I'm doing. Also Chalice dungeons? What are they and how does one access them? since I now have a chalice I want to put to use.
  8. I mentioned something similar earlier. It seems they've focussed on more shortcuts rather than lamps. I guess that's because no one wants to sit through over a minute of loading each time they find a lamp.
  9. I've not been killed by one of those guys yet. My kirkhammer stun locks them pretty good. So that's what I've been doing! I was destroying those giants in the cathedral ward by doing a "backstab" I thought it was some weird glitch that was letting me visceral attack them without shooting them.
  10. I think I'm heading the wrong way... I got picked up by a giant invisible monster, who then became visible and crushed me instantly.

The Keys didn't take too long to find. At least not long enough to call it a slog in my opinion. I'm normally the first to say screw that, I'm not collecting it, but I actually enjoyed the prime key hunt because it made me think about where I've already been in relation to the clues. Also I got to use that sweet new plasma beam. A lot.
  12. This is just something you have to get used to. I absolutely love the health regen mechanic because it makes me play more aggressively, but it is a fine balance between safe aggression, and knowing when to back off and use a consumable. Against groups of enemies, the health regen has been more of a hindrance, and I found it better to just back away, whereas with 1-on-1 fights, you tend to know how safe you are after being hit. The key is to just not panic, create distance when you don't know, be aggressive when you do. I'm loving the combat, at first the loss of a shield worried me, but in the previous games I never really used it. I always had one, but it had 2 roles: 1) Turtle the first time I encounter a boss. Learn it's moves, try not to die for as long as I can, so I can understand as much as possible. 2) Hold it up constantly, yet dodge anyway. Sort of like insurance against fucking up a dodge. I miss 1). I don't miss 2). I dislike how little time I last against bosses on the first attempt, so it takes me more times to kill them than in DS because I don't know their tells/attacks yet. It's basically meant I've been pumping points into endurance as a way to dance around as long as possible, sacrificing HP as a result. Has anyone come across a gun that does decent damage? The Bloodtinge (?) stat feels useless if there are no high DPS guns.
  13. PL4YST4TION 4

After an amusing fight in Bloodborne, I managed to save the clip with the PS4 record feature. How the hell do I extract it from the machine and turn it into a gif? It seems like I must be part of some social network (no thanks) to do so. In which case the clip will never see the light of day.
  14. PL4YST4TION 4

I've suspended/resumed with bloodborne. Worked fine.
  15. Nintendo 3DS

Has anyone touched project steam? Monster hunter has revitalised my interest in my 3ds, and I've heard mixed things from previews. So yeah, any good?
  16. PL4YST4TION 4

Suspend is freaking good. I'm most excited for it when it comes to RPGs (persona 5 especially).
  17. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

From what I can tell, they have to be boss monsters to lock on, which is dumb, but whatever.
  18. Oh man, the Gatling gun guy. He literally dodged off the edge, I climbed down the ladder and there was the item waiting for me. Couldn't stop laughing. Something I've noticed is that there are a lot of short cuts, and barely any lanterns. I don't know if it's a coincidence, or I'm missing them, but I kind of like that choice. I'm so nervous constantly, then I find a door or ladder, ascend it, and suddenly I recognise where I am and sprint back to spend my souls.
  19. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

I've gotten used to the camera now. The lock on coupled with minute adjustments with the virtual dpad works well enough. It makes small monsters hard to deal with though. I found a switch axe that is way more powerful than anything I had. I just do not understand how to use it. Seems super weird. I should probably do the tutorial with it.
  20. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

I've not really built more than one armour set. It didn't seem to make much difference to my survivability and now I've not really bothered making any more, instead just focussing on weapons.
  21. What?! I didn't know that. Bullets are arguably as important as health considering how much easier it is to parry now. I'm also sticking with the hammer, it's just too cool not to use.
  22. That seems like a good system. I've been not picking up stuff when I'm full, just in case I need to go back, I'll have to change that habit.
  23. So when people are talking about the first boss, do they mean cleric, or Gascoigne? Cleric was basically Taurus demon, the hunter was a fucking beast. His first stages are easy, but his last stage had me repeating over and over until I realised I could parry it and saved all my bullets for that part. I wrecked cleric, but I didn't come across him for a long time - I just didn't go that way. Those talking about farming items...doesn't it all just get replenished when you enter the hunters dream? My issues with it are similar to Eot's, except I liked my starting weapon (the axe). I'm a bit worried about weapon variety, as if you have to buy any weapon you want to try, it discourages experiementation early game. Having to warp to heal is a little dumb, but hopefully that'll be patched. I was also disappointed with how few souls the bosses drop. I'm used to getting 10k+ on a boss kill. Not 3k.
  24. How easy do they make it to go around helping people? I really enjoyed that aspect of DS2, as it was a good diversion if I needed souls, or was stuck on a boss. I refuse to summon people though. Solo all the way.
