  1. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Yeah I've killed a monster with glowing red eyes who didn't flee. I assumed there was some sort of enrage. The hot air balloon thing is crazy! And yeah, the pole vault is so good. I found out (from just experimenting) that I can knock a flying monster to the ground by vaulting up and hitting it. I was able to destroy a fleeing monster by effectively stun locking it by knocking it out the air every time it tried to escape.

Argh, there are so many systems that interlink. One thing I'm having trouble with is that certain monsters don't show when they're injured as obviously as others. Once a monster has gone to sleep, it's time to trap them...right? Or do they have to be limping or whatever the equivalent is? It's s really good game though, I must have put a ton of hours into it so far. I'd love to do some coop, how do I find my friend code? I've figured out the insect glaive, and I really like it. It has a build up time, but once you get 2/3 buffs, then you can start pumping out some serious damage.

Urgh, I didn't realise I could just sit down. I assumed I had to talk to the guy. I generally go through the combo list, and make whatever I possibly can just to see the options. There's so much for me to learn, and I'm kinda getting over the grinding/farming for stuff, since I generally play while watching TV. Talking of the dung bomb, I didn't get it to work. The monster just kind of ignored it. I kept attacking, so it might have been that, but I had no idea how to get it to work.

Ok I officially feel dumb. I have no idea how to get food bonuses. I have a mountain or raw meat, but the cook never gives me any options to make anything. So I end up roasting the meat myself.
  5. I pretty much had the opposite experience. I have so many weapons I've partially upgraded and I'm constantly switching between long sword and great sword, plus I use the whip a fair amount too. There are a to of weapons, they just come to you slower.
  6. I'd say push VA, since that boss is a lot easier. I finished! I did all the optional bosses except for me which requires an item I missed . I had a lot of trouble with I've entered NG+ with over 100k souls and I know they're going to be lost as I'm not going to beat father G on my first attempt. Makes me super anxious. I think I'm going to platinum bloodborne. It's a really fucking good game. I only have a few minor complaints, mainly what Eot has said about healing. Otherwise I'm certain this is a GOTY contender. I had a rather annoying enemy who kept invading and would never bow when we spotted each other. He'd also heal up whenever I took him down to below half. Both things I thought were fowned upon in pvp. It was really satisfying when I killed him in two separate invasions using a parry.
  7. I have a spoiler-y question about an item: I totally agree with this. I've deliberately avoided putting too much into vit because I saw how powerful it was. Also what I've noticed is that the healing you receive on hitting an enemy is less related to he much damage you swing does than I initially thought. Healing is more efficient by swinging a fast weapon multiple times, rather than swinging a slow weapon once or twice.
  8. I got to the last boss, but I'm not ready to fight yet, I know I've missed a bunch of stuff. Does anyone know if you need to have certain things done before you move onto NG+ for 100% completion?
  9. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

I've gotten to the point where I need to kill two monsters in one quest. I've fought 2 before on the expeditions, but it was super hard and involved a lot of running away and dying. Is there anything I need to know that could help? Or is this the point where I need to start coop?
  10. Go to the other table in the hunters dream after you have the tool you need. I did some pvp today as an aside. It was pretty intense, so incredibly different from dark souls (where my experience was limited). The combat pace is massively amplified. You can't have the kind of stand offs like in DS where no one would swing for minutes. Just moving back and forward until someone commits. Instead they tend to be all out attacks, because if you back away, you're gonna get shot. I need to learn how to deal with two people. Those with more experience, how do you handle coop partners? I had an idea of using the whip with poison upgrades and kiting people around the level. However I have no idea if the poison is working. The poison is only like 6.7 arbitrary units...
  11. I am totally getting destroyed by the nightmare place. It's frustrating because it's the first time I've had to farm for blood stuff

    Sounds painful.
  13. Man, if so (which I doubt) they should have just gone all out and called it: The ReMaster Chief Collection
  14. Are the stat soft caps known yet? I hit 26 strength and noticed that my weapon damage isn't going up as much as if I put points into skill (using Ludwig's Holy Sword). It'd make sense if 25 is the soft cap, but it seems really low. I tested out the whip too. Why is this weapon not amazingly popular? You get the use both forms with the gun! That's amazing. I also got a rune that heals 200 HP on a visceral attack. That seems borderline broken considering how easy it is to get visceral attacks off.
  15. Cause and Direct: A Nintendo Direct Thread

That's the feeling I got too. I know there was a huge amount of buzz around FE:A when it came out in the US, and it sold me (and I'm sure plenty of others) on a 3DS in the UK. That said, if the EU has to wait almost a year for FE again, I wouldn't be surprised if they released a full package (aside from the special edition which is reportedly all 3 campaigns in one box).
  16. Cause and Direct: A Nintendo Direct Thread

This link shows the products that'll be available in Japan. I'd be surprised if it'll be different between Japan and the west.
  17. Cause and Direct: A Nintendo Direct Thread

This got me. Sounds really good. Although it looks like the "side" of the campaign you choose is limited to which copy you buy (like Pokemon), although they're letting you buy the other campaign as DLC. It's kind of worried me about the WiiU release catalogue in 2015. What's left to come out? 3 games?
  18. Maximum Axiom Verge Urge

    Which is...
  19. Maximum Axiom Verge Urge

The thread title is really good. I found myself saying aloud at work because it's fun to say.
  20. I followed the right hand path at the cathedral, and there's a similar Magic at the end of that path. I decided to see what would happen if it touched me. It's pretty freaky, so I'd love to know what you see with insight

I read Gurstman's review on giant bomb. He really likes it, and that guy hates video games. I'll probably pick it up once it hits vita, or when I'm done with bloodborne.
  22. I am in the woods at level 40 maybe 38/9. It seems pretty balanced like this. I did some coop. It was weird, but I've always found the souls coop weird. The bosses really aren't designed around more than one player, as I helped s random kill vicar Amelia. She would turn to face one of us, who backed away (or dodged) while the other wailed on her back. Just felt too easy, I don't understand why someone would want to summon for help. Completely breaks the design.
  23. Wow, I missed a lot in Yarnham. I honestly felt lost most of the time in that area. It all looks so similar to me that I couldn't even find my way back through a short cut I made. I hope I can just go back and I've not missed out on any NPC conversations.
  24. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

I got gud. For some reason the monster used it's stun attack less - probably because I kept the heat on it rather than playing defensivly.
  25. I'm divided on whether to get it. I was enjoying DS2 until I stopped caring, so I don't really know if I want to spend £X on it again to play on my preferred platform with updates. But what are those gameplay updates they talk about? If they strip the stats down to something more manageable, then I might consider it. I hated that there was a stat dedicated to equip load and a stat dedicated to rolling i-frames. Fuck that. I want to feel more powerful when I level up, not feel like my character has become more normal. Bloodborne has ditched the whole equip load thing, I don't know if I want to go back to that unless they removed fat rolls entirely and maintained normal and fast as the only two options. The sad reason for wanting to buy it, is that I want to be able to say I beat all the Souls games.
