I played a lot more Fusion over the weekend. Despite my earlier misgivings, it's pretty good. It's a competent and fun Metroid game, but not without a few serious flaws. The linearity sucks. It pretty much directs you back to find secret areas once you have the item necessary, which I thought was disappointing - especially as I marked them down in a notebook. This also means I never felt lost. The fact it shows you the map off the bat completely destroys the feeling of being lost in other Metroids I've played. It still has the sense of discovery so that's good, as it makes me feel smart. The bosses are good, if not a little frustrating, entirely because once you kill them, you then have to kill something else to get a power up. I've died to the power up X so many times since I had no health after finishing off a boss. I dunno, just feels like a bad choice to include those.

I'm not still playing, but depending on the timing, I'd be really interested. I just need to convince my partner to let me have the TV for a whole night.

Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))

In a depth 4 chalice dungeon I faced an empowered Blood Starved Beast. I was having trouble trying to visceral attack, so I changed weapons to the scythe, and had a zen moment where I dodged literally every attack. The only damage I took was from poison. When I said I was nearly done with the game, I was wrong. It's so good. -
Wow I got 90% Lib Dem and 80% labour. I was considering voting for labour even though it's pointless.
-
Where I live there is no reason for me to vote. It's a safe Labour seat, so they'll win again anyway, and more importantly, I can't agree with any of the current parties stances on most things. my vote power is also pretty weak, although not to the extent of Mington.

I don't remember the stats for change.org in terms of success rate of online petitions, but it was surprisingly low. So low to the point that I felt bad even signing a petition on that site because it was less than doing something. It was making myself believe I've done something, while doing nothing. Site's good idea in principle, terrible in every other way.

Congrats! I'm still slogging through the chalice dungeons. I did beat the hardest boss ever last night- Dr. RNG. Finally had the last three ritual blood (4) drops! I'm at the point where I'm almost done with it, I think I have about 60 hours logged, but I need to play something else. -

I have 40 Ritual blood (3). Fucking 40 and only 6 (4). If anyone has a chalice dungeon with a buttload of (4), post the glyph! -
Red shells are fine, I'm just complaining! The bullet bill power up should really be reserved for those lagging behind. I actually got one today while I was 3rd! Seriously? Why did I get that? I believe the only placement that limits items to 0% is first place. I believe first place is limited to red, green single shells, single mushrooms, single bananas and the speaker. While all other places have access to anything, just with different % chances. Mushrooms aren't needed for every short cut, but they are for some, and are for some simple go over the grass short cuts. The single mushroom is ok for that, but it feels so weak in every single other way. I really like the addition of coins. It's irritating as hell when you get a coin and you're 6th, but it's so much worse when you're 2nd, and the 1st place player keeps getting bananas or shells to defend their back from your attacks. Yeah, I suppose being punishing for new players is ok, because it can balance out pretty well with the other weapons.

The issues I have with Science Souls are kind of core to the experience: a futuristic environment without guns is kinda silly. Souls games with guns as more than an accessory weapon would be a completely different game. -

I've decided I want to try a poison build for SotFS. I've always run straight up physical damage, but I think a DoT set up could be really interesting.- 1284 replies

That is exactly what I'm talking about!!!!

I don't have much to say on this topic buuuut.... 1) The Bullet Bill power-up. It's incredibly powerful when used at the right time, and incredibly powerful when just used immediately. It also has an increased occurrence the further your are from 1st place, in terms of distance and placement. At least that's my anecdotal understanding. So essentially a player who is 12th, will always be more likely to get it than someone who is 3rd. However it doesn't work quite right when the player in 1st place is much much further ahead than everyone else, which brings about this "unfair" feeling. I'm 10th, why did I get a single mushroom, while the person at 6th get a Bullet Bill which has now pushed them to 2nd or 3rd? 2) Mushroom power creep. When you can get golden mushrooms and triple mushrooms, a single mushroom feels like a punishment. It's significantly weaker than practically every other power-up, within it's own category, and within the power-ups as a whole category. A green shell is so much more powerful than the mushroom, and despite having 3 "upgrades" to the mushroom's 2, (red shell, triple green shell, triple red shell) I'm always happy when I get a green. 3) Some tracks are overly punishing to new/less adept players. Simply because falling off is far more of a punishment than any of the weapons available. Also, while I love the short cuts, they've become so over-utilised in online play, that if you don't use them, you're completely hamstrung. They're not a fun bonus that only the best/most knowledgeable players use, they're just a punishment for the weakest. 4) Red shells. Seriously, fuck red shells. They seem to have an uncanny ability to divert into bananas on the road when you throw them. 5) Invulnerability when you're attacked. This needs to last longer. A player who is hit seems to be a magnet for reds, greens and bumps. One hit at the start of a race can multiply into 3 or 4 hits keeping you stuck in the same place for a long time, and is generally accompanied by getting bumped off the course. Not being able to do anything, while multiple players attack you before you can even get moving again isn't fun and feels unfair. I'd also really like to be able to use an item while I've been hit. I know why you can't - mushrooms would become the most powerful item in the game - but it'd be cool to get hit, then immediately hit the perpetrator with a green or horn as they pass you.

I'm confused, I assumed tasers replaced guns. Isn't the whole point that you don't need a deadly weapon if you have one that's capable of incapacitation at range with only a small chance of killing?

That book lol. It's a fun weapon to use. It's kinda slow to start with, but you can pull off some long combos that rack up damage fast. I had a hilarious duel last night. I shot someone as they attacked me, trying to stun them for a visceral, but the timing was off. The opponent must have assumed I got the correct timing as they just stood there. We both looked at each other expecting the other to do something for a second. She dodged back, I dodged forward and spammed attack until she died. Kinda off-topic, but I'd love to see an Ancient Rome game, other than strategy games, no one has ever done that well.. I think a Mass Effect style game would probably suit it best. -

I'm sick of Ludwig's greatsword. It's a fantastic weapon but Ive been swinging it around for about 50 hours now. I decided to try out the Rapier with the gun attachment. It's pretty ok. I wish it hit as hard as the long sword mode for Ludwig, but it's fun to use. Unfortunately, it's terrible at dealing with multiple enemies, so I'd like another weapon to compliment it, any recommendations? I can't wait to dual someone with a fully upgraded rapier, should be fun. -

It looks pretty bad...urgh. I need to watch the original now. Weird question: Do kids still love dinosaurs as much as I did in the 90s? The only books I'd read were about dinosaurs or Star Wars. -
The image of Homer laughing with a mouthful of turkey in When Flanders Failed has stuck with me since my childhood. It occasionally pops into my head causing me to chuckle to the confusion of those around me.

I'm pretty sure the running theme of the prequels is that the Jedi are actually really, really, dumb. They like to sit around and discuss how wise they are, but in reality they're just ninjas who happened to gain authority. I can't see how else they didn't figure out that Anakin was a jerk, and Palpatine was also a jerk. It even fits with the events of the original trilogy. The Jedi/Sith conflict actually had little to do with why the Rebellion won. It was essentially a side story, while the non-psychic members did all the work. I mean, Luke did do the only thing worth while in A New Hope, but he wasn't even close to being a trained Jedi at that point. It was probably just luck. While in 5 and 6, Luke spent most of his time either dicking about with Yoda and failing to save his friends (who were found by a bounty hunter, not a force user) or he was fighting talking with the Emperor, while his friends took down the death star shield, fought off the Imperial armada and blew up another space station, killing the Emperor in the process. At best, Luke was a distraction, at worst he was a hindrance. Just imagine if he'd missed that small pipe! Any sensible person would have left the targeting computer on and used the force (it's not like Obi wan said "Turn off the computer Luke.")

Or just play offline for that section. Personally I loved the invasions, especially as it was generally the same guy who kept invading me. I just got the Cainhurst armor set. It looks real weird in the context of the rest of the game, but is pretty cool looking.
