So that's what the change in the wheel does. I wish upgrade items were all purchasable with souls. Fuck farming chunks. -
Wow, that game is weirdly fun. I just got shouted at by my boss for playing that.

I beat 4/5 remixed bosses. That was probably the most difficult thing I've done in video games, ever. So awesome though. I'm going for the platinum!

Tentative yes depending on the time

Funny you should mention a comparison to platinum games, as that was exactly what I was thinking when I posted that. The combat in Bloodbone is snail-like compared to Bayonetta, which is the last action game I played before BB. I hit and run against a lot of enemies, so while the overall pace of each combat interaction is fast, I'm then out, waiting, watching before I go back in to do more damage. The fact that every enemy is potentially deadly makes you play methodically. Sure, if I need to farm vials I'll sprint like crazy but that's because I know the enemies in C Yharnham very well by now. Playing bayonetta, I'm constantly hitting buttons, dodging, parrying, attacking, counter attacking but in Bloodborne there are many periods of inactivity. Less than Dark souls, but enough to make me feel like I'm taking my time and learning each and every enemy. I totally agree on stamina management. You can basically ignore the stamina bar, because even if you pump out enough swings to empty it, there's always enough left to dodge immediately (and those iframes on the dodge are insanely lenient. The same with parries, they're extremely generous, but this game is designed to be "accessible souls." It suffers in some respects for that, but it also gains in some ways. I frankly love the pace increase, something I thought I'd hate, but it makes the game so much more enjoyable to me, at least in terms of combat. I guess that's where I'm coming from. I just really love the combat and the setting that I've not really felt like anything is missing because I'm having so much fun in the world, using the mechanics. It's probably blinded me to some of the weaknesses (exploration especially, I'm looking for new enemies to fight more than anything else). What I like about the weapon variety is that I've "mained" 4 different weapons in my 2 play throughs. I started out using the axe, moved to Ludwigs sword, then I spent a long time with the rapier and now I'm using the scythe. In Dark Souls I got a weapon, I spent forever upgrading it, and I never used a different one in that play through. I stuck with the uchigatana or the zwiehander. I didn't even consider having multiple weapons because I didn't want to upgrade them, they weighed my character down and why would I need a different one? I already know which 2 I like the most. The. The boss soul weapons which were good in concept, but ultimately they were bad weapons. I don't know, I just didn't feel like the weapon variety added much. While in BB I've used so many different weapons in only 2 runs. They're all good, they're all viable, and I really like that. I can walk around with 4 weapons for all different needs and not roll around like a fatass. -
Aldi > Lidl. Their knock-off everythings are usually pretty decent.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))

Huh, I've never tried an archer build. The idea of buying arrows with XP put me off. Also I always play a "warrior" or "rogue" archetype if I have an option. Souls don't let you play stealthy so warrior it always is.- 1284 replies

Either Zero or Super in my opinion. Prime is fantastic, but the map is a little bit more complex than the 2D ones.

I just assumed the suit upgrades were parts found and integrated into the suit. I don't think that requires any sort of assumption on the origins of the suit. I'm content with completely ignoring the Metroid story, and letting the environment and feel of the games deal with the narrative part. I think Samus is cool for different reasons than the terrible story, and fortunately none of the games have shoved too much backstory down my throat.

Bloodborne is still incredibly slow and methodical. It's just slightly faster paced than Dark Souls. the only reason people are saying it's so much faster is because there's no wondering around with your shield held up. -

Bloodborne is distilled Souls. It's got everything that makes the souls games great with all the fat trimmed away. Some people liked the fat (casting spells, being passive while holding up a shield and having 20 swords that are basically the same with another 20 upgrade paths), but I think Bloodborne is close to the best Souls game made yet. You have to play physical. Good, the enemies in Souls are designed with that in mind mostly. You have to learn to dodge and read enemies. No more using a shield to learn a boss before actually fighting it, which is a tactic I relied on heavily. It makes the boss fights so much more interesting. I think if I had played Bloodbore first, it would be my favourite, however Dark Souls eclipses it, but only in a few ways. TLoU has a 40% completion rate on easy. That drops off quickly at the higher difficulties. I'd say if you give Bloodborne enough time, to be around 30-40%. I also noticed something today. The picture of the singing horribles meant to show the similarities to the doll, actually show more similarities to the Knight's Garb. I'd be more inclined to believe they were corrupted Knights from Cainhurst than other dolls. -

That's a fair point, but I don't really have any other comparable game in my trophy list. What's a story driven AAA game of similar length to Bloodborne? Is completion a valuable metric to determine whether someone will buy another game in a series? Looking at a list of games on PS4, it looks like practically all AAA games follow an open world format now. The only one that stood out as not being open world is The Order, but that's only about 6 hours of game time, which is definitely not comparable to BB. -
I watched some videos on Samus' back story. Goddamn they're awful. It's like they subvert everything that I think is cool about the character, turning her into a bit of a magic super hero. The things that really irritated me are: 1) Samus was rescued and trained by Chozo. Why? The Chozo seemed to be this mystical race, with not much known about them and Samus was one of the few who learned about their past (in Prime). Knowing she was trained by a Chozo destroys that. It wasn't particularly interesting info for her if she already knew a bunch about the race. It also means they're not long extinct... So she had to have super special amazing training to accomplish her status as badass bounty hunter? Why? I assumed she was just a cool person who was good at what they did. 2) Her suit was magic Chozo tech. Again, I assumed it was a custom built suit that she had either designed, or had input into what a bounty hunter would find necessary or useful in the field. It seems pretty boring that it's some magical thing that magic aliens made specifically for her, with all the knowledge of what she would need ahead of time.

I was pretty disappointed with the PSN sale in EU. I was ready to buy the metal gear HD collection for vita, as that's always on sale, but alas it's not this time. Mightily tempted by Alien Isolation though. I've just heard so many bad things about it, well...everyone has said "It's great, buuuuuut"

The trophy info suggests around 1/4 people finish the game. That's not a small amount in my opinion. Compare that to a more traditional AAA like Shadow of Mordor which has completion of around 1/3. That's not much difference really, especially as Mordor has had much longer to allow people to finish. -
I saw that sin and punishment 2 got great scores, but rail shooters are really not for me.

I still have prime 2&3 to do, but man I hate the wiimote. Or more specifically, my wrist hates the wiimote.
-
You can play with the game pad? No wiimote required? Why aren't all the vc games like that?!

It's a really video gamey thing to do, which is fine, but doesn't really fit with the visions of the Souls games in general. They generally subvert those sort of things, with the idea that everyone in that world has equal use and abuse of the world's mechanics. Rather than enemies being special or the player having their own rules. The debuffs just don't follow that. They're essentially things that affect players and weaker enemies. -
I finally finished it, and I'm happy with how it played out. It was a totally competent Metroid game. I enjoyed it, but it's not amazing. I wish I had more to say, but everyone has already said everything on it. Oh, I didn't like Samus' design as much. The suit looked too fluid with her body, which is obviously intentional considering the plot, but I much prefer the mechanical looking bounty hunter.

I finished Metroid Fusion. It was pretty good.

Rapid poison is more like bleed in dark souls, I.e. a debuff that builds up and causes instant 30% . So it's pretty amazing when you use it in pvp, but almost useless in pve. I tried using a bleed build in dark souls and most bosses were resistant to it, but when it worked it was really cool. -
I drink tea, but it's pretty rare. Coffee really is the king of hot drinks.
