  1. Life

I'm meant to be spending 20% but my partner has been skimping recently due to being jobless. Paying 40% is pretty tough.
  2. PS Vita

The best PS+ game I got on Vita was Muramasa Rebirth. Such a fun game. Shame Dragon's Crown didn't really grab me (I couldn't get used to the 2.5D movement). Are there any essential PSP (s)RPGs? I tried Tactics Ogre, but it was weird and I gave up fast.
  3. Destiny

Ugh, that one is so good. I've only done it twice, and one of those times my party ditched randomly...probably because it's long and difficult. Man, I wanna play some Destiny now. I fired it up two days ago and got matched into the Walker/Giant Eye strike. I turned it off once I was done because that one is like autopilot.
  4. Destiny

I really like the Dark Below strikes. Shame that the randomised matchmaking always puts me in one of the originals that I've done 10,000 times.
  5. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

I try to avoid games on the 3ds as much as possible. I hate the screen so much. It was fine until I got a vita - going back to that highly pixelated screen just feels gross. Some games are worth it (Monster Hunter for example) others aren't...and like Merus said, Q looks more like an EO game. I couldn't get on with EO IV, it just wasn't my cup of tea, so I doubt I'd like Q. I just finished P4, really liked it, but I'm not sure I want to get into a similar game so soon. I found it really exhausting. However, with age I've found myself moving away from narrative heavy games and prefer those with the bare minimum plot, and well made gameplay so SMT seems like I'd love it. It's apparently on PSN, so...that doesn't help until they release PS Now in the UK. Then add the game. At a reasonable price.
  6. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Searching a bit more it looks like SMT: Nocturne on PS2 is one of the best. Generally people seem to like the Persona games more than the mainline series. Since I'm never going to get a PS2, I might just try Persona 3 Portable.
  7. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

After finishing P4G, I want to try a mainline Shin Megami Tensei game. What's a good place to start? I've heard the PS2 ones are the best, but I've never owned a PS2...
  8. Eggcorns

Me too. It's an express coffee!
  9. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

    Fixed that for you.

What they haven't told you is that Solid Snake has a squeezable solid snake.
  11. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Dixie's a fake Kong. Donkey (and King) are they only way to go.
  12. Eggcorns

No sure if these count: Expresso (which kind of makes sense - it's a faster way to drink coffee) Cup of chino (I'd not heard this until I read about it today but apparently it's confused for cappuccino).

I beat Persona 4 Golden. I struggled with it thanks to its length - I quit one play through after 50 hours on hard, and this play through I decided to play on easy (since this game is really not about the combat) but took a break at 50 hours and came back a couple of weeks later to finish it off. If I start out with the bad - it's too long. It gets incredibly monotonous to go through the featureless dungeons and play the same boring fights over and over. The normal enemies do not teach you how to fight bosses. You can blast through them in a turn, either hitting their weaknesses or just using powerful moves. The bosses require buffs and debuffs but there's no reason to ever use them before a boss. Ok complaints over. I initially got the bad ending (1/3) then took a break. This ending is fantastic, and by far the best way to end the game. I also got the true ending (3/3), which was alright. The story beats that happen aren't exactly interesting, but I enjoyed seeing the gang again and knowing the entire story. The game makes you feel awful about having multiple relationships. Which is weird, because you're rewarded for expanding you're social links, which inevitably end up with a romance if they're with a girl. The best part of the game is the god damn styyyyle. It's what made me pick it up twice and push through the painfully boring parts. Super stylish, and despite its weaknesses is a fantastic game. Plus it's the first "real" JRPG I've ever finished. I'd totally put some gifs to show off said style, but I'm not on my computer.
  14. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I still have no idea how to read twitter. I wish there was a program that turned what seems like a random string of tweets into some coherent conversation I could digest.
  15. UK Thumbs

    Wait, people read newspapers?
  16. Destiny

If it was delayed until 6am I might be able to make it. Not far off when I usually wake up for work anyway.
  17. The Witcher 3: What Geralt Wants

I bounced off witcher 2 thanks to the combat. Felt weird playing it right after dark souls. I seriously hope they improved it this time around.
  18. Recently completed video games

I finished The Unfinished Swan. Good length, cute story, and I enjoyed the mechanic. Good game.
  19. PS Vita

Olli Olli 2 is a great little gem. My vita is basically a rogue like and jrpg machine. Rogue legacy, spelunky, binding of Isaac. I'm intending to pick up Ye Memories of Celceta and all the metal gear solid games too as soon as they come on sale. Vita is an underrated piece of hardware, I get a hell of a lot of use out of it.
  20. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Ash man I loved the shield. I was consistently able to dupe people into ganging up on me and killing 2-3 at once by popping the shield. Surprisingly my partner who hates video games had an absolute blast playing. We swapped the controller each match. She much preferred the roller because she was able to help the team in a meaningful way, as well as getting a decent number of kills. I think Splatoon has potential, I have to agree with Sno though. Nintendo could so easily fuck it up.
  21. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I certainly did the worst with the charge gun, but some people were rocking with it. I personally favoured the splat jnr. I think that is the same one you mentioned. I started dominating with that as it was essentially a hard counter to the roller and charge gun - it splats before they have a chance to attack. Anyone know if you'll be able to switch weapons in the main game? Having everyone with rollers or snipers leads to a really weak team, but swapping weapons constantly might be irritating. Just let me see who's picking what before I pick I guess.
  22. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Holy shit Splatoon is good. I don't think I can add more than that yet, but I've noticed what seems to be weapon balance issues. The roller and the charge gun are by far better than the two rapid fire splat guns. To the point that the other spatters feel useless.
  23. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I don't think there's any Uplay bullshit in ZombieU. I've been thinking about playing that again, I just can't be bothered to remove Mario Kart from the disc drive. I wish I had just gone all digital.
  24. Rogue Legacy

There is actually an achievement for beating the game with 15 lives or less. Suffice to say, it's really difficult, but beating the game doesn't require grinding, it can be done with skill.
